Dodgy Uber Driver Scam

Uber driver calls me and tells me that he can no longer take me to my destination because the tariff has changed... but doesn't cancel the journey and arrives a bit further away from the meeting point and stops... on my phone it says that the driver has arrived but he's quite far away... why is that?
i have been charged before cancellation fees in dubious situations...
that's why i believe that this scam is common practice among uber drivers...
not only they drive badly... they're also crooks.

Once had an uber drive past us and keep going. They didn't cancel the journey, expecting us to. My friend messaged the driver asking wtf and said he wouldn't be cancelling. Driver cancelled it later. Stupid thing is, they drove past our destination before cancelling it.

Although I have used Uber, mainly because in the States it seems that Uber is the only way to get a taxi these days, I personally, would rather use a local private hire company. I don't like the idea of boosting the profits of an American multinational, while the company treats local drivers badly (from what I've heard) and seems to have a disregard to local rules and laws. _Try to support your local companies as much as possible and stop financing the lifestyles of the rich in other countries..._

It’s not rocket science just use a different company they are not the only one and there are black cabs as well

I would never use Uber period! There are plenty of black cabs. Theese guys just can't help themselves . Why do they have to act this way ? They can still make a living without being dishonest. Cheers.

I crawl before i use a taxi these days. I tried to book an UBER for a 1.5 mile trip to the dentist, came back £17 recommended family car. I cancelled and walked it. Bus is much better. Lots cheaper to

I have only ridden with a Uber three times. All three were paid for by the auto dealer that was working on my vehicle. I did not have to pay for any of them.

It sounds like he gets stitched up by Uber. Do they set the fares low, as he was complaining that they had dropped the price by £10. It's terrible that they get squeezed on price like that.

@squicker all I know is he claims the fare was reduced by £10. Why would he elect to try and get a cancellation fee if the fare Silvo booked was worth it? Minimum wage is not that appealing. especially if you live in London.

@scottlaaa Interesting pricing policy. That's very unfair on the driver. These are people with bills to pay, and should get a fair wage for the journey. Living in the countryside, we have very little in the way of public transport, and taxis are just not affordable.

As a full-time Uber driver here in Brisbane Australia I absolutely and completely understand where this passenger is coming from. Countless passengers of mine have told me accounts identical to this one. It's not all Uber drivers but it seems to be the case here in Brisbane it is in every case which was told to me the 'international' drivers. They bring thier scumbag scamming mindset with them from whatever shit hole they moved here from. My cancellation rate is less than 1%. I am still a 4.98 driver after more than 23,000 trips and 6 1/2 years of driving.
