They are deep down angry, resentful and miserable. You think you want to be in their presence so badly and then when you do, they are cruel, shallow and honestly empty people. They love & hate YOU because you’re not any of those things

My narc said he didn't know the smashed window, my bleeding toe, the flipped tables, the holes in the wall, the perpetual mess in the home, the yelling and swearing at me and his 89yr old mother etc scared me and affected me negatively and blamed me for not telling him about it. He hadn't worked for more than 10yrs and said I should have nagged him to get a job if working was so important to me. He said he had it worse as a child and this is nothing.

I think for my last narcissist, he would feel bad in the moment but later on was able to justify what he did bc he talked himself out of the shame of his actions.

The way he describes his cognitive ability to know he was wrong, but not being able to “tap into” the sadness of his own hurtful behavior is eye opening and really sad, but also freeing in a way.

I am actually doing compartimentalisation with him.. No choice... or else I keep wanting more, trying more... feeling sad etc.. so I had to pack everything of him, memories, his actual existence and put it in a box. I cannot manage or process it all and I don't think I'll ever be able because makes no sense. :( So...
