It’s the entire package for me. The crazy real ones, the fact he messes with David’s logic, the fact he adds even more crazy stuff to an already crazy thing and most of all the way he tells it, but indeed things only coming from bob are possible is the cherry. Like here, the way he talks about first the tea, like having a toaster isn’t crazy enough, he has tea too and a wide variety of things for on the toast. He tells it and I can actually picture him doing it. He doesn’t even try to convince, he just tells it like it’s normal and we’re the crazy ones. Love him !

Bob's true stories are so outrageous that I think he broke David. If Bob said he once lived in a cold climate where it snowed year-round, he had to walk 5 miles uphill both ways to/from school and built a regiment of snowmen to guard him on his walk, I would have to briefly think about my answer - everyone else in the world I would automatically say it's a lie.

I think he actually has a tell. When he's telling the truth, he misses a lot of details, like the actual names, and says stuff like "it was a long time ago", and gives a general feeling that he's not sure about it. When he's telling a lie, he's more trying to sell it - if challenged like "thw kettle is far away" or "the egg white wouldn't solidify in the bath water" he responds back in contrast. and also he doesn't mention so much blurry details. However, he might give a very specific detail when telling the truth which is something all people generally do when being more truthful like the Fuji7.

Here in America we have no one to produce the magic that David Mitchell and Bob Mortimer do. They are absolutely in a class by themselves and are golden. You can tell that they have immense respect for each other. David is in awe of Bob's ludicrous yet plausible story telling and Bob is overjoyed with the reactions he can generate from David. We all are lucky enough to go along for the rides. Long may they run.

I'd like to help you, but I had trouble too. The part I wasn't clear on at first, but figured out on rewatch, was after Holly asks him what he has for lunch. David suggests he goes over to the wardrobe, opens that up, and has a whole kitchen. Bob says no, he goes over to the bath and disconnects the gas heating so he can turn it into a stove. 😂🤣 The bit before that I'm not so sure about. But I think they're suggesting it's basically a prison for Bob and his wife. They can't go downstairs and all they get to eat is toast.
