After all these years, David finally solved the Bob Mortimer Conundrum. It is better to assume you will be wrong, and you must chose which way you would prefer to be fooled, than to try to get the question right. Then, he went against his better judgement anyway.

I think he actually has a tell. When he's telling the truth, he misses a lot of details, like the actual names, and says stuff like "it was a long time ago", and gives a general feeling that he's not sure about it. When he's telling a lie, he's more trying to sell it - if challenged like "thw kettle is far away" or "the egg white wouldn't solidify in the bath water" he responds back in contrast. and also he doesn't mention so much blurry details. However, he might give a very specific detail when telling the truth which is something all people generally do when being more truthful like the Fuji7.

I've learnt more British colloquialisms for bedside breakfast paraphernalia from Bob than I ever thought I'd need... or want really

David with his head in his hands as soon as toaster by the bed was mentioned :D

The best thing about this one is how incredibly mundane the premise is. Yet per usual it evolves into a genuinely insane tale that only Bob could deliver with absolute uncertainty.

The small things he adds, like taking the bath panel off to access the secret stove are what makes him a genius in my eyes. That and the names he comes up with.

I'd like to help you, but I had trouble too. The part I wasn't clear on at first, but figured out on rewatch, was after Holly asks him what he has for lunch. David suggests he goes over to the wardrobe, opens that up, and has a whole kitchen. Bob says no, he goes over to the bath and disconnects the gas heating so he can turn it into a stove. 😂🤣 The bit before that I'm not so sure about. But I think they're suggesting it's basically a prison for Bob and his wife. They can't go downstairs and all they get to eat is toast.

@@notme222 - The rough gist was that he said his older kids don't get up until around 1pm. So Bob and his wife have to stay in the bedroom and keep quiet for hours so as not to wake them up earlier.

@@notme222 oh this is perfect thanks. Yes this is the part. I can't believe you got all those details. Will rewatch happily now that i know now!

I'm so pleased Bob is finally getting the credit he deserves, he has been a comedy genius for over 30 year, along with Vic they never really bothered with publicity, makes them more interesting, I would love to see the two of them on the show together !!

When I need a guaranteed laugh this is where I come to. Bob on WILTY. It’s like a reliable drug dealer, always there with the goods, except in this situation it’s laughter. 100% pure laughter.

David doesn't even think about winning against Bob Mortimer's insane stories anymore. He is just going for the logical choice of which way of losing is more preferable.

Bob is so funny. He steals the show every time he's on. Absolute legend. For years everyone thought it was Vic who was the funny one, but Bob is definitely his equal

How can a simple story about a toaster - which may or may not live by Bob's bed - devolve into madness?
