I have only just stumbled across Fr Mike's videos and I am left absolutely stunned by him. Fr Mike is an outstanding example of a good shepherd and his is exactly the pastoral care that we need to be hearing every week from the pulpit. When the sheep have been scattered the shepherds need to go after them, not sit waiting for them to wander back. God bless you Fr Mike!

I lived a spontaneous existence for several years, including things like, on a total whim, traveling to a foreign country to go to a concert, arriving with no return flight, randomly winging my trip as it went. It was certainly tons of fun, and I have innumerable amazing memories, and still keep in touch with some of the people whom I met along the way. But, when I first did this, I was not practicing my faith, nor was I living a virtuous life, particularly regarding chastity. Seriously, on a monthlong trip from Ireland to Turkey, bookended with Belfast and Istanbul, with Athlone, Dublin, Prague, Bratislava, and Budapest in between, I never once attended church. I visited the cathedral in Prague, and Hagia Sophia in Istanbul; but, I never even thought to attend church. I returned to my faith roughly 6-months after getting home, after a 5-6 year span of time of running away from God and his church. I ended up in a long-term relationship, and my subsequent trips were more grounded, as I both had a girlfriend who wanted to be chaste, and I had also returned to the faith, including daily prayers. After we broke up last year, my “sympathy” gift for myself was a 7.5 week trip to Europe. Again, amazing memories, great new friends, and mostly wonderful experiences. But, while I was more focused on the faith, I found myself wrestling with some of my old demons from my fallen-away days, such where I ultimately found the charm of extended solo trips to be less charming for me, as I simply didn’t trust myself to persevere in making good decisions. Luckily, I had been practicing the faith for 2.5 years and some change by this point, and I knew to run to Christ in the sacrament of confession (which I happily did in both Galway and Częstochowa), there’s still this whole notion of “avoid the near occasion of sin” that we Catholics love to pray about, hopefully not only giving lip service to it, but also giving it heart service.

I can totally relate to this. I planned trips on whims and then never really prayed ... only when I was in Paris ... my hostelmate was catholic and since he was to show me how to use the metro.., I went for mass with him... it reminded me of my catholic duty! I hope you continue in the love of Christ... and I stay disciplined in my faith!

Fr. Mike love your videos. I tell people all the time. When God says jump! Our response SHOULD BE how high and how far my Lord? Instead most of the time we say ok I’ll get to it later. We wouldn’t say that to others in our lives very much. Funny thing is any time I have done that to God most everything blows out of the water in a bad way. So not that I’m perfect in anyway I find it to be better to listen to Him!!!!! I promise you it will work out for the best. Listen to Him always!!!! Much love to all and God Bless

Fr. Mike has a great older video on discernment and now Bobby and Jackie angel have a whole book! I think it all starts with 1) be in a state of grace 2) do the thing you're supposed to do now. Like, if you get up and you're supposed to go to school, go to school. If you're supposed to make breakfast for the fam, make the breakfast. 🍳🥞🥯 You're literally doing the will of God by frying those eggs, so fry 'em, my friend, and fry 'em good! 🤣 St. Josemaria Escriva I think says something similar, as does St. Therese! To go beyond those steps, Fr. Mike's video and the Jackie and Bobby book will tell you the rest. Sending you love!

Concrete example: I have to commute by bus to get where I need to be, which takes discipline. If I don't get up, to do what I need to do I may not be available for whoever God places in my path. There may be somebody on the bus, or at the bus terminal who God wants me to talk to while on my way to wherever it is that I need to be.

For me it's not so much procrastination. I just get anxiety, stress, and chronic migraines as well and they don't help either. Sometimes when I am in such a deep state of depression, I don't feel like doing anything. :V Not to dramatize nor anything either, I just wish I could do more beyond on what my health has provided for me. I don't like being in the victim mindset and having these things define my ability to work, but they are the reasons on why it's so hard to live everyday and to keep doing the same things in order to function and live a normal life. I just wish I had more personal fulfillment and rn I am hurting in some areas of my life and I don't really trust anyone (but God), with these issues. XD Please pray for me and thank you Father Mike for the talk. 💜✨

@@blesscal803 Everybody knows and loves Father's basic temperament, and they also know his complete devotion to the Faith. With something more troubling going on in this papacy every day I think Fathet must be extremely upset, but it is not his nature to be upset about anything publicly. Father Mike I love your videos! Is there a place to submit content/ questions? I became Catholic via RCIA at Easter 1.5 years ago and am cooking our second baby since (3rd and 4th for us). In this area, spontaneity and God’s will has become a pain source for me (to be honest- in this moment at least). Being a mom is my favorite thing in the world and I’ve found this is a VERY hard topic to talk about with most Catholic women. Most people avoid the discussion altogether or are very hesitant to share NFP success. I’m thankful for all of our children (and 3 angels in heaven), praying a 54 day novena, trying to get 15 mins with God daily and trying to find peace in our actions according to God’s will. It’s still hard to not know what the future will hold. Sure, there are some ascension presents videos about NFP but I would love to hear you or Bishop Barron speak on the issue as you both really speak into my heart! Thank you- you have a true gift!
