She never goes out of her way to say a food is unhealthy but clarifing that in excess the food can be bad for you thus never inadvertently shaming the people who enjoys the foods. "Healthy coke" is a replacement/substitute for coke, not a doppelganger, never meant to taste like it, just to curb your craving for it and to have something that doesn't have sugar. My advice is... the caffeinnated bubly, "citrus cherry" tastes SO good with the balsamic vinegar. It reminds me of having a cocktail and is refreshing without being something that slows down my immune system. Aaight? Also, other good flavors besides cherry with the balsamic vinegar are mango, grapefruit, and peach. Any fruit that you can put spices and salt on it make for a good pairing.

I learned about this about a year and a half ago from Dr. Steven Gundry's podcast. It's one of his videos for 2017 and he doesn't call it "coke" per se but calls it a healthier alternative to soda. (He's mentioned in another video that it was something that he picked up in Italy a few years previous to his video on this subject.) I'm a hardcore Coke drinker and it's a passable substitute when made with lime-flavored sparkling water as lime is one of the original ingredients. My recommendation is to try this again with a can of chilled lime-flavored Bubbly and use two to three tablespoons of older balsamic vinegar. It's not going to taste exactly like real Coke, but will give you a cola-ish flavor.

I used to drink coke and sodas all the time. Took me 10 years to break the habit but I had to for my health. On a hot summer day after a couple of years of not having any, I picked up an ice cold can of coke, popped it open, listened to the fizziness to with a smile, and took a big swig. Tasted like battery acid. I almost couldn't keep it in my mouth long enough to get to the sink. Never had the urge to drink it since. BUT that may be why people who don't drink it anymore can't remember what it tastes like. When you don't drink it for a long time your tastes change.

I use an old fashioned cola syrup for my chronic nausea, I think that might work. If anything it would be fun to mess around with different flavor combinations. Also I highly recommend making homemade syrups with fruit and herbs. I’ve never tried adding the herbs to the syrup(grenadine) but I have infused alcohols with the herbs and then made my own drinks using the homemade syrup as well. Also it’s great for adding to kombucha! But to infuse herbs into your alcohol you essentially just add it into the bottle and then store it in a dark place for a few weeks/months. It’s all about experimenting for yourself!

I probably would've added cane sugar to it and maybe honey or something like that. And if u want something else add some cherries to it. What is sweet balsamic vinegar? Balsamic vinegar is a slightly sweet, dark, richly flavored vinegar made from grapes used to enhance salad dressings, marinades, and sauces. It can be reduced to a glaze and drizzled over strawberries, stirred into a risotto, or tossed with Brussels sprouts or red onions to let its sugars caramelize in the oven.

A common snack my family in the south use to drink was salted peanuts poured directly in a bottle of coke. You get a crunchy, salty surprise mixed in the sweet soda! This reminds me of when I used to make balsamic strawberries. Just cut your strawberries into chunks, coat them in sugar, and add a couple tablespoons of balsamic vinegar, and let them macerate in the fridge a day or so. Then you have a delightful topping for things like ice cream, yogurt, waffles, or anything. Then I would take the strawberry-infused, sweet vinegar liquid left at the bottom of the bowl and mix it with some sparkling water for a delicious soda.

I tried this with plain seltzer and added sweetener. It didn’t taste like coke but I got the acidic part of the coke. I have some cola flavored stevia drops and it’s good but missing something. I added a tiny splash of balsamic to that and it tasted closer to coke. I think people that think it actually tastes like coke haven’t had one in years.

I have all kinds of flavored vinegars, so I had to turn my kitchen into a lab and try this. So far, my favorite combo: Cinnamon Pear balsamic, mixed with Fuji Apple sparkling water. DELISH. I've always been a Diet Coke girl... and I hate it when Pepsi is the only thing available. BUT - I have found that adding some lemon juice to the Diet Pepsi - it's a bit more like Coke! There are definitely lemon and cinnamon notes in Coke.

So, as a sparkling mineral water snob. My father got me hooked on Perrier as a kid at his favorite burger place. La Croix is not really a good *flavored* sparkling water. Everytime I have tried their flavored water it does not mix well and tastes chemically. Same for Aha, Bubly, and HEB brand. The only flavored sparkling water that I prefer with little to no chemical flavor is Perrier ( grapefruit is my favorite ) and San Pellegrino ( Aranciata ). Be careful with the San Pellegrino flavors as some can be pretty strong like the Aranciata Rosa or blood orange. But most of the flavors are pretty tasty. So if you try this recipe by Emmy I would use Perrier or San Pellegrino. They will probably mix better.

I forget the brand I used to like, I think it was ~~Arowhead~~ (tall pale translucent blue bottle; I forget if the neck was tapered or a cylinder). yeah, if you want to drink vinegar (ie, a Shrub - comes from the Arabic word "sharab", meaning "to drink", I believe), add a splash of apple vinegar to a handful of frozen berries, and pour hot water on top. I grew up in Roswell and went to Georgia Tech (across the street from Coca-Cola HQ), and lived in midtown Atlanta my entire adult life until this past February. I recently moved to Columbus, OH, which is home to the largest Pepsi distributor in the US. I am *dying* here in that sense... it's so hard to find a restaurant that has food that I like that also serves Coke as opposed to Pepsi. Also, you've been to the Coca-Cola factory? Do you mean the big bottling plant on 75 near the exit for Cleveland Avenue? I didn't know they allowed tours!

Emmy, you really should try making switchel, it's easy peasy and good if you like ginger kombucha. I read about it first in Laura Ingalls Wilder's The Long Winter (the Indian summer chapter lol) but you can find recipes online. It's a centuries old American recipe. I like the flavor profile so much I make a modified apple smoothie with one cored apple, a small knob of ginger, a few tablespoons of apple cider vinegar, and cold water. Sooo tasty. I hope you try either or both drinks someday!

This is just another one of what I call Vegan sticky note recipes. Some Vegan/Health nut people understandably struggle with the restrictions of their diet choices. What to do when you miss those addictive flavors like Coke, bacon, etc.? You come up with something that has a vague resemblance (obviously, the closer the better) and you stick a label on it, often with quotes like ... a recipe for healthy "Coke." Then you adamantly insist that it tastes "just like" the original, whether it does or not. The majority of the time it does not, and no ordinary person would eat it, much less be fooled by it. Any objection to it is met with the indignant response "but this is HEALTHY!" or "this is VEGAN!" as if that mattered when it's not remotely what they desperately claim it is.

@@thekatsup Yes! I start out suspicious when I see those labels. The other day I saw a recipe for Vegan "Mac & Cheese" made with a cashew nut cream sauce. It actually sounded like it could be interesting, although TBH I probably wont go buy cashews to try it. If it's good, though, just let it be Pasta with Cashew Cream Sauce, don't frame it as a second rate substitute for something it can't measure up to.

Oooh, I like Spicy Emmy. Adding they syrups (balsamic glaze & molasses) is about like checking candy at the soft-ball stage. Probably not tiktok accurate, but would dissolve best if added to glass, then seltzer, stir, then ice. Pretty sure there are a couple cola flavored sparkling water/seltzer products out there; if a person wants "healthy coke," that doesn't taste like vinegar. I remember one from the 1980s-90s, could have been Clearly Canadian, that wasn't too bad. Or track down organic cola.
