Hey Victoria! Could you make a video about PCOS and ways to help keep your health balanced while your cycle is out of wack? I'd really appreciate it!

PMS is definitely so so much worse in winter (emotionally), in great part, I think to seasonal affective disorder/syndrome which already has me at a significantly lower point mentally. Using a SAD light REALLY helps, but once summer comes around again, there is no comparison at all to how happy I feel with the heat and sunshine. Likewise, I am a lot more active in summer, though definitely not sedentary in winter, and just eat much fresher/more varied produce in summer than is available in winter. In the past I've had an increase in physical activity almost entirely eliminate period discomfort, but I seem to be at a stage where it's stable throughout with about one really painful, sick day, regardless of weather.

I find that my periods are more dreadful in the summer. I do not think it is all because of the weather though. I tend to be very irritable/ stressed in the summer as my baseline for some reason. In the winter I am also just genuinely happier. Because of this, my pms is horrible in late spring - early fall. Also in the winter time you can cuddle up with a bunch of blankets and watch Christmas movies and drink hot chocolate and watch the Snow fall.

Honestly now that I think about it, my period/cramps are always so much worse in the summer. Living in south Florida isn’t always fun :/

I thought this was an interesting topic. My body tends to become colder during my period, particularly my feet. So, I look forward to those cycles that happen during the summer when the weather naturally helps me from getting too cold. Otherwise I don't notice much of a difference between my periods in the different seasons.

Thanks so much for posting this video. Research supporting small differences (or no difference) is just as important to talk about as big differences! :) Like you mentioned, I find that making a point to stay hydrated during menstuation in the summer is one of the best ways for me to manage my symptoms.

Love your videos! I’ve gotten super fascinated by female health. Would you ever do a video on your cycle and your iron level?

Hey Victoria. I was wondering if you ever planned on trying Tempdrop? Also, I don't know if it's the hot weather messing with me but during the summer I feel worse on my period, but I also don't really like hot weather, I'm more into warm, like spring and fall weather.

Seasons-wise I haven't noticed a change but temperature definitely affects me. Baths or long showers around my period are a no-go because the heat increases my flow and I get headaches, I'm assuming due to vasodilation - I don't live in a hot country so I've only ever experienced it that way, maybe my experience would be different in a hot and humid country but I only ever remember one period abroad in that situation and I was fine. My cramps are far worse in the cold and I struggle to do my stretches which ease some types of cramping. Fortunately I've found that an electric blanket in winter helps but it's still a bit of a nightmare when the house heating isn't high enough because being in a cold environment just makes my muscles seize up and I've noticed a clear link with my cramps

I just had a thought to add - food definitely affects my period, the healthier my food the better my periods and any month where I stray from my usual whole food plant based diet I get heavier periods with cramping and worse PMS. I know my diet changes according to the season but apart from a guaranteed shitty period after Christmas/New Years I'm fine I'm just wondering if changing diet could be a factor for other people?

dkshjxosjd Yeah for sure, for me food is a huge factor

Omg I'm just like you with food!! & what you described you felt in Sri-Lanka is my usual period :/ so I can't really tell if there's a difference between Summer/Winter in that matter... Love from Israel 💙💙💙

Interesting! My period have kind of dissappeared the last summers though.. Maybe because of travel or a general hormonal imbalance? I'm trying to figure it out.

Emelia Söderlund Traveling is a pretty safe bet, whenever I travel (even once for 4-5 months) My periods just vanished until I got back... (gotta mention though - this trip in specific was to very high countries & I live near the lowest place in the world so it's kinda says it all...)

Mui S Thank you. However I usually just travel to a close city for a few weeks.. But I do change my routines. Like everyone else though?

@@karinaperek7993 Interesting that we're not alone about it! It reminds me of my frustration about that one doesn't get to learn these things in school though haha. Hope you're doing well!
