Jamahal Hill returns against Alex Pereira in the main event of UFC 300 and he's already being completely overlooked but is it so farfetched to think he could not only win but come away with a KO win?

Yes. We've seen Alex KO'd in MMA. 4oz gloves are very different to 10oz in kickboxing. And Hill can make it dirty rather than a clean kickboxing contest. That said, I am dubious that he will have recovered from his torn Achilles this quick. He does not look after his body and live like a pro athlete style at the best of times.

I agree with Bayliun. I understand Pereira is the new hotness for a lot of people, but he's very hitable and he's been hit cleanly in nearly all of his ufc fights so far. He's fought nothing but strikers and Jan, both Sean and Jan are ground savvy, but they've relied on their striking for the last few years. Again, I get it, but how many of his opponents have hit as hard as Hill or with his level of skill? Very few of his opponents so far are considered finishers. Jiri and Alex was back and forth and this fight will be the same if they're fighting stupid.

He's naturally bigger than Pereira He's long, His chin is incredible whereas Pereira has been rocked and knocked out by someone smaller than Jamal. So Hill absolutely has the ability to KO Pereira and I also put the odds at 50/50. It's a pick em in my eyes too. @@ceedub3966 Alex fought with an injury, though... So, he was also at a disadvantage. In fact, i think he was at a bigger disadvantage because Hill, at the time and to the best of my knowledge, was fully recovered from his injuries, while Alex fought with a broken toe. Also, can we stop pretending that experienced and elite fighters taking a year off training is going to have a significant effect on their performance if they are given adequate time to prepare (which won't be too long if they've already been fighting and practicing for years before the time-off)? Also, Jamahal Hill himself said he was ready to go for a while and that he's 100 percent confident that he's ready to go. It seems to me that the fans know Jamahal Hill's own skills, training, and body, more than himself.

To say Hill doesn’t have a chance is the most casual thing to say.
@CYMotorsport
@CYMotorsport Ай бұрын
lol it’s almost like we just saw Alex fight Jiri. Yes Jiri was stopped but he also won the only round they completed. Meaning on the cards atleast, there a route. Thats step 1. Which is more than we can say for some champions - they win close rounds. Alex doesn’t. You’d literally have to be out of your mind if one were to think Hill doesn’t have a chance. He nearly committed manslaughter vs Glover. Jiri vs glover proved beyond a doubt that Jiri was very very hittable. So Alex stopping him isn’t terribly shocking. Glover gave Jiri a good fight. And Jiri gave Alex a good scrap. Glover couldn’t lay a finger on Hill. In the very least, it’ll be close. Alex has a ‘death touch’ at 170, sure, but I guess everyone forgets he fought Jan lol and scraped by with a splitty city. Jiri ate quite a few shots before going out and again, won the first round unanimously. IMO if hill gets inside boxing range, and stays there, it’s over. hill is a southpaw. So Alex only has the outside lead leg. Thats his weakest kick. And you can’t deny hill is a master at timing overtop kicks. He’s literally brilliant at that specific thing. No clue why everyone is creaming their pants like it’s a tailor made fight to Alex. Simply forgetting I guess you his is a striking battle and the fact that hill is a southpaw is SIGNIFICANT - and a switch hitter at that. Ppl underestimate how valuable it is to possess the skills to genuinely box in mma. It’s not just punching , it’s what you throw, when, and what you get your opponent to do and how to counter that in your favor. Alex is highly susceptible in boxing range when clinch is avoided. hill is not going to want to clinch nor should he. Alex vs Silva is a great benchmark to see that. To be fair Silva put on the fight of his life and one of the more underrated performances but Hill will do atleast all that. And Alex’s chin is crackable. If Izzy can, I promise you hill can. Anyone who says he didn’t finish glover… he pieced him up methodically. He never was loading up to finish him, he never really had to do. He maintained the rang against a guy with a good chin. It’s incredibly hard to flat spark someone out at that weight on their feet having not done ground and pound. Think about it - how many walk off KOs at 205 can you name in the last year where no ground and pound also occurred first or after? Not to mention, the one wildcard without evidence is Hill has a LOT more to lose. For this one specific fight, it’s hard to bet against him. I may not be so willing in his first defense but this one so long as his heel holds up, Alex has a tough night ahead of him. I wouldn’t be shocked to see him grapple which I think changes things significantly in favor of Alex. But I guess that’s why gambling exists - happy to part ways with Pennies on this. Ppl are underestimating how good this will be

This fight really comes down to if Jamal can take a clean left hook because we know he switches stances and is southpaw so the legs kicks shouldn't compromise him until later in the fight and we all expect the fight to end in under 3 rounds. Jamal gets sloppy overextending and gets caught by big left hooks constantly by Santos and Glover but I see that as a good thing. He has the chin to take a few of Alexs best shots while I don't see Alex surviving a few straight rights from Hill. Even if he can't land those we saw Alex breaking against Jiri when he got in the pocket and Hill so far has out brawled everyone he's faced and never KOed like Alex. I got Jamal by round 2 KO he will get his legs chewed up and eat a left hook then force a brawl with Alex pushing him to the cage and land the straight right like Izzy for the finish.

I'm convinced a lot of mma fans just dont like traditional "niggas" and thus dont want to believe Hill is talented. Alex gets hit a lot. Hill typically doesnt need to hit you a lot to put you out. Straight punches beat looping punches. Alex is used to fighting MW's and hasnt looked as incredible against opponents similar to his size. Alex's best weapon is a setup hook and Hill is likely going to just time dynamite straights until he puts Alex out. Of course theres other variables like Alex's leg kicks and so on. But i think the fight boils down to the above. I got Hill winning.

Idk why people are acting like Pereira is this unbeatable striker. Pereira has flaws and we have seen him get put away. He relies on his ability to get hit as much as he relies on his ability to put someone away with one shot. At first when the fight was announced I thought "Hill has no chance" but ive seen him prepare and the guy is CONFIDENT and it has caused a shift in how i feel about the matchup. I also think he can catch Pereira with his awkward tempo and style. If you also take his KO power into consideration, he certainly has a shot at regaining his title. I would say 60/40 Pereira however, if i had to pick someone based on how i feel, i would actually pick Hill for the upset

When you’re trying to determine who will win a fight, go watch all of their fights. Analyze their techniques, how they are likely to act/react in different situations, their in-ring behaviours, etc. That’s an analytical approach, which is far superior (imo) to a strictly statistical one. ONLY going over fighters resumes, however, is only looking at a single, limited variable from that statistical approach which is already less than optimal. Crazy that it took 13 minutes for someone to appeal for an argument not based on resume alone.
