I know 1st hand the Rosary is a powerful weapon. After suffering from depression and anxiety for years and contemplating suicide, I attempted to pray the rosary and thought why not, I tried everything else. That night I slept with it in my hand and something evil tried to rip the rosary out of my hands. I have been praying the rosary everyday since and was woken up (had a conversion). Thank you Mother Mary for leading me to your son Jesus! God bless!

Jen L that's beautiful 🌺. I experienced the rosary as protective as well. Nearlly twenty years ago I woke up after some kind of satanic attack where this being was trying to persuade me not to go to the church in the evening..it was too dark. He appeared at first at first as a handsome man and spoke softly, I debated with this being that I left the church no later than 7:30( blessed sacrament) even if it was dark and this person whole physical appearance changed, drastically and kept screeching at me"not to go to that church'...I woke up saying one of the prayers we say at mass. I was shaken and grabbed my rosary to pray and felt back asleep...another night I woke up in the middle of the night around 3 and I felt a strong urge to pray the rosary. The following day a girl I knew that had depression had attempted suicide years before, I was visiting and she mentioned to me she had got up in the middle of the night and she thought about cutting her wrists and she said something stopped her. I felt someone was praying for me I said nothing but it confirmed the need to pray for someone in the middle of the night could be important. I was prone to depression myself. Not too long after that girl converted to Catholic faith. There is power of protection there.

Regular good confessions, praying the Rosary daily, and receiving the Eucharist as often as I can erased my addictions, my depression, my sleep disorder, my anger management issues, my ineptitude of maintaining a relationship. I am catholic, married and father to a beautiful child, serenity and peace reigns supreme in my family, my parents are thinking about converting to Roman Catholicism. All Glory be to God the Almighty, the most precious Blood of Jesus and the unending Love of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

I had that kind of meditation too. I was saying "Blessed are you among women and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus." While thinking about the scourging of Jesus at the pillar. It just happened while I was praying the rosary and that reflection/meditation struck. It was a powerful image that was in my mind at that time. Other times, if I can't do them both (because I'm distracted etc.), I pause every after each mystery to meditate, then proceed with the prayers and meaning them as I say them.

@YAJUN YUAN There is no need for escaping anything! As explained in the video, repetition in prayer is not forbidden, but exists in the OT, as in Psalm 136! The Apocrypha is not inspired and is not used in matters of faith and doctrine.

@@Bullcutterwait...what? I was just telling someone else in This comment section that if they want to know what Catholicism teaches, do not go to the average catholic, go to the offical teaching of the church (the catechism) because people differ in their opinions. I rest my case The catholic catechism says the deutercanonicals, not apocrypha IS inspired scripture . You can't have it both ways. II. INSPIRATION AND TRUTH OF SACRED SCRIPTURE 105 God is the author of Sacred Scripture. "The divinely revealed realities, which are contained and presented in the text of Sacred Scripture, have been written down under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit."69 "For Holy Mother Church, relying on the faith of the apostolic age, ACCEPTS as sacred and canonical the BOOKS of the OLD and the NEW Testaments, WHOLE AND ENTIRE, WITH ALL THEIR PARTS, on the grounds that, written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, they have God as their author, and have been handed on as such to the Church herself."70 106 God inspired the human authors of the sacred books. "To compose the sacred books, God chose certain men who, all the while he employed them in this task, made full use of their own faculties and powers so that, though he acted in them and by them, it was as true authors that they consigned to writing whatever HE WANTED WRITTEN, AND NO MORE"71 107 The inspired books teach the truth. "Since therefore all that the inspired authors or sacred writers affirm should be regarded as affirmed by the Holy Spirit, we must acknowledge that the books of Scripture firmly, faithfully, and WITHOUT ERROR teach that truth which God, for the sake of our salvation, wished to see confided to the Sacred Scriptures IV. THE CANON OF SCRIPTURE 120 It was by the apostolic Tradition that the Church discerned which writings are to be included in the list of the sacred books.90 This complete list is called the canon of Scripture. IT INCLUDES 46 BOOKS FOR THE OLD TESTAMENT (45 if we count Jeremiah and Lamentations as one) and 27 for the New.91 The Old Testament: Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy, Joshua, Judges, Ruth, 1 and 2 Samuel, 1 and 2 Kings, 1 and 2 Chronicles, Ezra and Nehemiah, TOBIT, JUDITH, ESTHER, 1 and 2 MACCABEES, Job, Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, the Song of Songs, the WISDOM OF SOLOMON, SIRACH (ECCLESIASTICUS), Isaiah, Jeremiah, Lamentations, Baruch, Ezekiel, Daniel, Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, Zachariah and Malachi. The New Testament: the Gospels according to Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, the Acts of the Apostles, the Letters of St. Paul to the Romans, 1 and 2 Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, 1 and 2 Thessalonians, 1 and 2 Timothy, Titus, Philemon, the Letter to the Hebrews, the Letters of James, 1 and 2 Peter, 1, 2 and 3 John, and Jude, and Revelation (the Apocalypse). The Old Testament 121 The Old Testament is an indispensable part of Sacred Scripture. Its books are divinely inspired and retain a PERMANENT VALUE,92 for the Old Covenant has never been revoked. Notice the offical teaching of the catholic church regards the DEUTERCANONICALS TO BE INSPIRED AND AUTHORITATIVE.

@@leeenk6932 If you go to Catholic Answers, an official apostolate, and search for apocrypha, you will read the situation behind deutrocanonical books! It plainly says that the Catholic Church cannot admit that non canonical books cannot be used to derive doctrine! It's like the errors in one of the Catholic Bibles that they can't admit! We must thank the Protestants that brought all these issues to light! As a result, the counter Reformation got to work to reverse some of the wrong ways of the Catholic Church, like the Priest's position on the communion table! @@Bullcutter I don't care what catholic apologists say, its what the church itself says, their catechism makes it clear. When protestants deny the inspiration of tbe deutercanonicals, then catholic apologists argue for them, and apparently when confronted with an obvious contradiction they a I guess deny them. I do not trust catholic apologists. Not trying to sound rude, but I get so tired of this back and forth type of argumentation and double standards used by catholics. Its one way or the other. I guess i would ask, so can we chuck out 2 Maccabees 12:38-46 about praying for the dead? Its not authentic scripture right? So then this cannot be used as a proof text for doctrine?

This might be odd, but as I'm praying a decade of the Rosary I often think about physically walking with Mary, say, in the woods. or in the darkness of my church or another cathedral or expiatory temple I've visited. I realize this is not expressly scriptural, but it helps with my meditation.

The rosary has no power. When you pray the rosary it is vain and repetitious. It is an empty trinket. We are told in the Bible to pray to the Father in Jesus Christ name through the Holy Spirit. The Bible also tells us not to communicate with the dead. Mary cannot hear you, and she cannot intercede for you. Give me biblical scripture that supports Mary being our intercession. Give me biblical scripture that supports the rosary. Jesus Christ is the truth, the way, and the life. No one reaches the Father except through Christ. Christ alone saves, not Mary. Matthew 6:7-13 King James Version 7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. 8 Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him. 9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. 10 Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. 11 Give us this day our daily bread. 12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

I’m not Catholic (I’m Lutheran) and I don’t ask the saints for their intercession, but there is a clear Biblical defense of it. First, those who are in Christ are not dead, they are alive, and in Christ with us. Matthew 26-27 “And as for the dead being raised, have you not read in the book of Moses, in the passage about the bush, how God spoke to him, saying, ‘I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’? He is not God of the dead, but of the living. You are quite wrong.” As for intercession, it’s found in the book of Revelation. Revelation 5 6-8 “And between the throne and the four living creatures and among the elders I saw a Lamb standing, as though it had been slain, with seven horns and with seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God sent out into all the earth. And he went and took the scroll from the right hand of him who was seated on the throne. And when he had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each holding a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints.” Revelation 8 1-4 “When the Lamb opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour. Then I saw the seven angels who stand before God, and seven trumpets were given to them. And another angel came and stood at the altar with a golden censer, and he was given much incense to offer with the prayers of all the saints on the golden altar before the throne, and the smoke of the incense, with the prayers of the saints, rose before God from the hand of the angel.” There are many treasures in Revelation. It’s really worth studying it in depth :)

To Jesus through Mary, praying the Rosary daily totally transformed my (Catholic) faith, led me to close relationship with Jesus, the Holy Spirit and our Heavenly Father. Mary desires us to know and love her Son, his sacrifice and mercy, to be obedient to God’s will, with the help of the Holy Spirit. I pray the Rosary with specific reflections for each Hail Mary, they can be found by Googling, this focuses your prayer and eliminates distraction. Also, praying on your knees in reverence adds a whole other dimension.

So glad I learned about this. I've become completely comfortable with praying a rosary. If you think about it , how many times do we repetitively tell someone we love them you know. But in that moment , do we actually meditatively mean it? Of coarse we love them, but I think we can all say we've told some one we love them out of habit. So technically isn't that in vain? I've found repetitive praying helps me to really focus on what I'm praying.

The Rosary came from the Blessed Lady when she appeared to Saint Dominic. Our Lady cannot act on her own. Even though Our Blessed Lady gave the Rosary prayers to Saint Dominic it ultimately came from Our Lord Himself. So when Mary ask you to pray the Rosary it's also Our Lord asking us to pray the Rosary.

The words of the first part of the Hail Mary are words addressed to her by the angel Gabriel and her relative Elizabeth. The second part is merely a request for the mother of God to pray for us. But most important of all: the whole point (the context) of the Hail Mary is not Mary but the incarnation of Jesus. Without the incarnation, we would have no Our Father. If Jesus had not taken flesh in her womb, we would necver have heard of her. So whenever we pray the Hail Mary, we are professing our faith in Jesus, the Word made flesh. As she said to Elizabeth, her soul magnifies the Lord; everything about her speaks of God. Have you ever listened to the words of the most used Marian prayer of all, the Hail Mary? *** "Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee." *** This is nothing more than the salutation of Gabriel in Luke 1:28. *** "Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb (Jesus)." *** That is Elizabeth's greeting to Mary in Lk 1:42. ***"Holy Mary, mother of GOD." *** She is a saint which makes her holy, and she is the Mother of GOD, because Elizabeth calls her the 'Mother of Our Lord' in Lk 1:43. Also if you take Jn 1:1 "...and the Word was GOD', and add it to Jn 1:14, "...and the Word was made flesh", GOD was made flesh, and who was His mother? Mary! *** "Pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death, amen." *** This is nothing more than petitioning Mary to PRAY FOR US, just like in the Bible verses I presented. Do we 'pray to' Mary, or are we only petitioning her to pray for us? Rom 15:30, "...help me by your prayers to GOD for me." Col 1:9, "This is why we too have been praying for you unceasingly." 1Thes 3:10, "Night and day we pray more and more..." 2Thes 1:11, "To this end we pray always for you." 2Thes 3:1, "In conclusion brethren, pray for us..." Jam 5:16, "...and pray for one another that you may be saved." Rev 8:3-4 "...that he may offer it with the prayers of all the saints..." According to Scripture, are the saints in Heaven dead or alive? Now the next question is, 'Yes, but it is repetitious (the Rosary) and that is forbidden by scripture'. (Mt 6:7) OK, look at the entries listed above which have the asterisk (*) in front of them. Are not Col 1:9, "This is why we have been praying for you unceasingly...", 1Thes 3:10, "Night and day we pray more and more...", and 2Thes 1:11, "To this end we pray always for you...", repetitious? Is this one of those so called 'Bible Conflicts' you hear about from time to time? No, not at all. The answer is that the Bible refers to two types of prayer repetition '(V)ain', in the manner of heathens, and '(U)seful', NOT in the manner of heathens. The Rosary is not vain repetition. Here is a list of some in each category that you can check in your Bible. (V) 1King 18:25-29, (U) Isa 6:3, (U) Dan 3:52-90, (V) *Mt 6:7, (U) Mt *26:44, (U) *Lk 6:12, (U) Lk 18:1,9-14,*21:36, (U)*Col 1:9, (U) 1Thes 3:10,5:17, (U) *Jam 5:16, (U) **Rev 4:8 Many non-Catholics have the false belief that praying to "dead" people is useless. This is a mis-interpretation of what Holy Scripture teaches us, for the Blessed Virgin Mary and others who have gone on before us are not dead but live forever.

The words are partly there to take up the propositional space of your mind. Try thinking of any arbitrary sentence when you pray the rosary. It's almost impossible to do both at the same. Without the propositional (taken up by the prayer) the mind instead deals with images, emotions, experiences, and memories. As far as repetition in the bible goes, I particularly like Daniel 3:51-90

As a protestant, I don't have a problem with recited or rote prayer per se. For instance, reciting the Psalms is also recited prayer. I've found St. Patrick's lorica very helpful during times when I am too overwhelmed to have my own words or just in need of peace. I've also been known to simply repeat "please, please, God, please, etc" when something horrible happens and other words just won't come. I don't think there's a problem with any of that. The issue I see is when people recite prayers but do not pray their own words freeform as well at other times, or when the repetition becomes mindless, or if they believe that specific wording will make God hear them when their own words wouldn't do that. As long as those traps are avoided, recited prayers in themselves are just fine.

@YAJUN YUAN in the Bible it doesn't specify that this warning against repetition applies only to the types of prayer you mentioned. "Holy, holy, holy..." Is a *prayer* of worship. Furthermore, they warn against vain repetition: saying empty words over and over *for the sake of habit* and making big, impressive sounding sentences, thinking it gives more value to one's prayers when really this is just superficial (hence the word vain). It's the motives here that are warned against, not repetition itself.

@YAJUN YUAN ok, so let's say "Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord God Almighty" doesn't count as a prayer because there's no supplication involved... Does that mean if my prayers have no supplication then they are not prayers? More to the point, if I ask God repeatedly for something I want, is that vain repetition? Should I ask God once and then never ask him again?

To emphasize a statement in Hebrew the same word or words are often repeated. Repetitive prayer is a prayer that emphasizes our plea to God. When I was Protestant and going through a horrible separation in my marriage I used to fall asleep watching old movies on the Catholic Channel and I would hear the Divine Mercy Chaplet being prayed in song while asleep. I had little idea what the song meant, "Eternal Father, I offer the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your dearly Beloved Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, for atonement for our sins and those of the whole world, for the sake of His Sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world, Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world," but it made me glad the Catholic Church was praying for the whole world. I found myself humming the tune and gnawing on the meaning of the words when I woke in the morning. I gained a little more understanding after seeing "The Passion."

I would argue that the passage from Matthew 6:4-9 emphasizes the importance of sincerity and humility in prayer, rather than prescribing a specific duration or form of prayer. The rosary, while it may take longer than some other forms of prayer, is not inherently against God's will if practiced with genuine devotion and humility. The rosary is a meditative prayer that helps Catholics contemplate the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ while seeking the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary. It encourages believers to enter into a deeper spiritual communion with God and to reflect on the mysteries of salvation. Furthermore, the Catholic Church does not teach that the rosary is the only acceptable form of prayer or that it is necessary for salvation. Rather, it is one among many devotional practices that Catholics may choose to engage in as part of their spiritual life. Ultimately, what matters is the disposition of the heart during prayer, as Jesus himself emphasized in Matthew 6:6. If someone prays the rosary with genuine love for God and neighbor, seeking to deepen their relationship with God, it is not contrary to the teachings of Scripture.

The Rosary on the other hand is repeating the exact same prayer fifty times!

No the rosary is a meditation on scripture. You are actually supposed to meditate and let Mary lead you through the life of Jesus, as she was ALWAYS with him, during his birth, life, death, and witnessed his resurrection. The repetition of prayer is important but it’s meant to lull you into a spiritual calmness where you can think more clearly about scripture. As some priests say it, the Hail Mary and such of the rosary is the background music to the profound lyrics of the gospel. Hope this helps, if not watch father Chris Alars video on the rosary and it’s importance. I guarantee it will answer most of your concerns and questions.

One must, must, think about the words. Also, remember that the prayer has two part. The first is praising and venerating the uniqueness of the Theotokos. She is the source of our salvation in that without her selection and acceptance to be the means of Incarnating the Word of God to become the Christ, death and sin would still reign. She held within her womb the "uncontainable", namely God. The second part of the prayer is asking Mary to intercede for us, to help us attain God's mercy. She is the Mother of God and holds great influence the King of our lives-Jesus Christ, as did the Mother of all ancient kings. Not to think on these words makes the Rosary a difficult chore that is devoid of magnifying the Mother of Mercy and the refuge of sinners.

@@Th3BigBoy "Protestant" is a term that Catholicism labeled to those who protested against the abuses and corruption that was going on in the middle ages. It was meant as a derogatory term, but has been retained by many non catholics. There is a new protestant revolution today protesting the abuses and corruption of the current papacy, called traditionalist, or the more extreme Sedevacantist. Although they will deny it, they are nevertheless protesting Francis. Protestants were excommunicated by Rome because they found certain practices to be an affront to the gospel, Rome responded with an eventual excommunication by those who would not recant themselves. My advice, if your searching, stay off the internet as it is filled with a cesspool of insanity among religious people. You will drive yourself to exhaustion as people bicker amongst themselves. If you want to know what Catholicism actually teaches, look at their official, and binding teaching in their Catechism. Same with protestantism, look at what their particular church teaches in their confessions. DO NOT look to the average catholic or protestant for CERTAIN and DEFINITE answers, because they all will have differing opinions in both camps. Take what they say with a grain of salt. Look to the scriptures, look to someone who is actually learned in academics, Doctors of theology, or looking at offical church council's, perhaps a priest, or pastor who knows how to read Hebrew and Greek. Be careful of apologists because they usually are more like damage controlers, and are good at arguing technicalities, and twisting things to fit their beliefs. Thats their job. They will argue and warp things to fit into the way they see it. So look to the catholic catechism, their councils, like Trent, Vatican 1, Vatican 2. Look to a learn priest. Look to offical confessions in protestantism. Talk to a knowledgeable pastor in the original languages, and look to scripture.

@jendoe9436
@jendoe9436 2 жыл бұрын
Well, the Rosary in its length came about because non-monks saw monks praying the Psalms and wanted to pray devoutly as well. There are 150 Psalms, so that’s how many the monks prayed daily. However, most people were poor and illiterate, so they didn’t know all of them as well. So, people instead prayed Out Fathers and Hail Marys, with the eventual evolution of stones, knots, string, and eventually beads to keep count. The root of the word ‘bead’ is actually ‘prayer.’ The current form of 1 Our Father, 10 Hail Marys, and 1 Glory Be per Decade times 5 per Mystery times 3 main Mysteries is attributed to St. Dominic and his fight against Gnosticism. So yeah it is quite a bit, but learning about the history of the Rosary kinda helps it move along. If the time is getting to ya, maybe focus on a few Mysteries at a time or take up the Chaplet of Divine Mercy. Same length, but the prayer time is usually quicker. 😇

@YAJUN YUAN naw, I quite like having beads and asking my Holy Mother for her powerful intercession. My best meditations are when I follow her during her son’s life, death, and resurrection. The Rosary in it’s current form is attributed to numerous miracles, changes of heart, and a general sense of peace. Why would I give up such a beautiful devotion that doubles as a sword against Satan? No matter what you say, I will never give it up. The Rosary has been vital in my spiritual life and giving it up will be akin to slicing off my hands. And what does being literate have to do with prayers anyway? The fact that anyone can do a Rosary no matter literacy level shows how widespread God’s desire for communion is. I pray the Rosary with all the Hail Marys because Mary knew Jesus best and helps lead me to him. Without Mary’s devotion and trust in God, salvation history would be quite different. Some of the greatest and holiest people were illiterate, and had a strong, beautiful devotion to Jesus and Mary. Those are who I rather follow, not someone working to disarm me against the devil.

@YAJUN YUAN It does not say "repeat not a prayer" but "repeat not the word in thy prayer, more especially "deuteroo" means specifically doubling - not tripling. And since all repeated prayers are repeated to make a minimum of three occurrences, and since it's only angels (and the Church citing them) that repeat a single word (holy said three times, not just twice), we are fair on this one. By the way, I disagree about "lengthy" it is about wordy. The point being if a pagan had written Our Father, it could have omitted petitions about forgiveness and protection from temptation and still been twice as long as the actual Lord's Prayer from all explanations given to back up the requests, but it would not have been as lengthy as repeating Our Father ten times. I think both injunctions are about speaking with confidence, like no _"as ... ? ... as we forgive"_ and so on. Lengthy per se and repetition of whole prayers are not mentioned.

The context of Sirach is not filibustering the godfearing assembly and not being wordy in prayers of petition. While the rosary includes petitions, it is foremost an act of worship, which is the highest form of prayer. In Our Lord's prayer it corresponds to the petition "hallowed be thy name".

When I was a practicing Roman Catholic as a boy and young man going to confession, I remember receiving penance of reciting prayers. I recited the prayers the given amount of times from memory as fast as I could with the belief that my sins were absolved. Now I realize that this could never absolve me from my sins. It was all in vain. Now I believe that the Bible is the final authority and everything I need for spiritual instruction can be found in it. The Lord taught the disciples how to pray with the Lords Prayer. Matthew 6:9-13 and Luke 11:2-4. This prayer is an outline of the way we should be praying. It tells us to whom we should be praying, to pray for his will, to pray for our needs and the needs of others, to confess our sins and ask for forgiveness, to forgive others, and for His protection from evil. I see nowhere in scripture that we should pray to anyone but God. All of our spiritual experiences should be measured by the teaching of the Holy Scripture so we will not be led astray.

In fact, we don't see it once, despite the damnable lies you have been told.

Repetitive Prayers detaches your heart to Jesus. Saying the rosary you think of other things. Pray beads only came in the fifteen century from a vision to St. Dominic. “ Red Flag” besides pray beads have been a part of the Muslim practice for centuries, Was that apparition to St. Dominic Mary?

Really? Let me ask: Do YOU pray the Rosary? Because I find your comments strange. When I pray the Rosary, I don't think about "other things". Instead, my mind focuses ON JESUS CHRIST. You may not know this, but the Rosary is not only about SPOKEN WORDS. It also has several MEDITATION points (called mysteries) which focus on key aspects of the life of Jesus Christ eg His conception in Mary's womb at the annunciation by Angel Gabriel, the moment of His birth, the moment of the presentation of the baby Jesus in the temple, His moment of agony in the garden of Gethsemane, His journey to calvary while carrying His cross and His crucifixion, etc. Every time the Rosary is prayed, we meditate and focus our minds and hearts on several points in the life of Jesus Christ. Let me also say that any "similarity" between the physical structure of the Rosary prayer beads and the Muslim prayer beads is purely coincidental. It is NOT proof that the Catholic Church COPIED the design of the Rosary beads from the Muslims. Anyone making that allegation is simply trying to mock the Catholic Church. Just because a physical resemblance exists between two things DOESN'T mean that they are the SAME THING or that one was COPIED from the other. For instance, do you know that historically Christianity began several centuries AFTER Hinduism (The religion of Hinduism existed before Christianity) ? Do you also know that there are SIMILARITIES between certain aspects of Christianity and Hinduism. For instance, both of them practice the act of fasting from food, and both of them have their respective Holy Books or scriptures (BIBLE for Christianity and SHRUTI/SMRITI for Hinduism). Wouldn't you agree with me that all these similarities are mere COINCIDENCE? Would you say that we christians COPIED anything from the Hindus?? Of course not.

@@jerome2642 When I was Catholic I must of said a million Rosaries, I don’t think I ever got through one rosary without for a moment or two my mind would drift on other things. You seem more focused then i was. It must be my A.D.D. Lol Today I get my meditation and prayers from reading the scriptures. The Psalms is good. I had read ( Not Sure) the apparition that St. Dominic had from this angel said instead of reading Psalms recite on these prayer beads. Galatians 1:8 We know in the scriptures when the disciples asked Jesus how do we pray and he recited the Art Father who Art in heaven to them. ( Notice it is an outline to pray from). Example: gives us our daily bread, we should forgive others, Lord help me to forgive. Ect… Jesus wants heart felt prayers. When Jesus prayed in the garden to the Father for his hour was upon him. He prayed his heart out. This is how I want to pray. No thanks to repetition. Besides I personally feel closer to the Lord today then ever when I was a Catholic.

@@johnp.6043 Well, I am sorry if no one taught you how to say the Rosary properly while you were still a "Catholic". I don't have any problems with distractions while saying the prayer. Infact it gives me a unique sense of closeness to the Lord. Some ignorant people describe the Rosary as "another gospel" (Galatians 1:8) probably because they couldn't find the word "Rosary" written in any of the four gospel books of the new testament. Well, I guess they fail to realize that the Rosary is simply a prayer during which we meditate and reflect on the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Essentially, it focuses my attention on Christ Himself and all that He did for my salvation -- is THIS not what the gospel message is all about? The gospel message is centered around Jesus Christ Himself and it is on HIM that our mind and heart are focused during the Rosary, and so for goodness sake how is the Rosary all about a "different gospel" ? Even the very words that are said during the Rosary are gotten from the Gospel books of the new testament (Luke 1:28; Luke 1:42; Luke 11:2 - 4). I think that those who end up quoting Galatians 1:8 anytime the Rosary is mentioned are simply suspicious of ANY message that comes through an apparition or vision from heaven. They believe that any message received during a heavenly apparition or vision which cannot be LITERALLY found written in the Bible MUST be from the devil. This is simply not true

@@jerome2642 People have to be careful with apparitions. 1COR 1:22 For the Jews require A SIGN, and the Greeks seek after wisdom: But WE PREACH CHRIST CRUCIFIED. Joseph Smith said s beautiful Angel appeared to me to tell me the scriptures are corrupted, and there are some true writings on tablets under a rock made of gold. Occultism. In the gospel of luke when the angel appeared to Mary to give her the good news that she is a chosen vessel to carry and bring our savior into the world. For what little was mentioned about her in scripture she was awesome and obedient. When Jesus was preaching in Luke a woman yells out and said to Jesus what about your blessed Mother who raised you. ( if Jesus wanted Mary to be a co mediator this was his moment) ,but he said yea rather Blessed are those who hear the word of God and obey it. Jesus also said my Mother, Brother and Sisters are those who hear the word of God and obey it. Acts, Mary the the Mother of Jesus was with one accord and supplication with the disciples in prayer. ( Mary was not elevated in this prayer service. ) A lot of the rosary is biblical, except for the unbiblical part for her to be mediator. When the scriptures says in 1 Timothy. That Jesus is our only mediator. And he said NO ONE Comes to the Father except through me. I believe in prayers from the heart instead of repetition. The scriptures have so much more information then reading In Luke fifty times a day in a repetition manner of The angel saying Hail Mary ( Hello Mary) your full of grace, the Lord is with thee.Ect.. Jesus also has bestowed his grace on us. Acts 4:33 and power was given to the apostle and GREAT GRACE was upon them all. Psalms1:2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. Jesus told John when he was dying on the cross to behold his Mother and Mary to behold your son. Jesus asked John to take care of Mary. Normally that would of been next of kin to have that role, but John and Mary had fellowship about Jesus Christ. Iron sharpens Iron. Jesus said to yoke with believers. The early church never elevated Mary to be co redeemer until the fifteen century. Mary is a created being and a fellow servant of Jesus Christ. She is not to be knelt before or elevated as a mediator according to scripture. Isaiah 42:8 KJV I am the Lord: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, my praise to graven images. Not my words or my opinion ,but what God is saying in his Holy words. Unfortunately the Catholic Church denies the scriptures alone. For they shall believe a lie then.

@@johnp.6043 1) No need to worry. As Catholics, we are NOT foolish enough to simply believe absolutely ANYONE who claims to have seen an apparition from heaven because we know that Satan can disguise himself as an angel of light (2 Corinthians 11:14). That is why the leadership of the church has to carefully study such claims so as to determine which apparition is from God and which is from the devil. In the case of the apparition in which the Rosary was revealed to Saint Dominic, the church carefully studied it and realized that it didn't CONTRADICT the gospel and so approved the Rosary for the whole church 2) when that woman declared that the woman who bore Jesus is BLESSED (Luke 11:27), she was NOT trying to say that Mary is a "co - Redeemer" or "co - mediator" or anything like that. The word '' Blessed" doesn't mean any of those things. You have simply given that Bible passage an "anti - Catholic" interpretation 3) What do you mean by saying that the disciples didn't ELEVATE Mary when she joined them in prayer prior to Pentecost (Acts 1:14) ? Do you mean that they didn't honour her or give her any special attention as a result of her being the Mother of Jesus? Once again, you are giving this Bible verse (Acts 1:14) an "anti Catholic" interpretation. I believe You are trying to tell me that the apostles had NO special regard for her and did not HONOUR her the way the Catholic Church does today. But who told you that? Acts 1:14 has only told us what happened between the apostles and Mary during the period when they awaited the Holy Spirit (i.e they prayed together with her). That passage doesn't tell us EVERY detail of how the apostles treated Mary THROUGHOUT her lifetime on earth. So you can't use Acts 1:14 as evidence that the apostles NEVER gave any form of special honour to Mary 4) The greeting "Hail" in the Bible means MUCH MORE than just "Hello". It was a salutation commonly given to people in position of authority or royal power (eg Kings, Queens, Governors, Emperors). This was why those soldiers mocking Jesus were saying to Jesus: HAIL, king of the Jews (Mark 15:18). It was common practice in the ancient Roman empire for soldiers to salute kings using the word "Hail". If "Hail" simply means "Hello" why haven't we seen it used as a social greeting between two people anywhere in the Bible? Apart from Mary, has an angel of God ever greeted anyone else using the word "Hail" ?

Amen.

Not real sure what kind of prayer Jesus dislikes but, more to the point, I do know what kind of prayer Jesus does like. He's very clear on that in his Word ( the Bible); In both the Old and the New Testament, all Believers always pray DIRECTLY to God the Father. And in the New Testament it's always directly to God the Father, "in the name of Jesus". In fact when the disciples asked Jesus himself how to pray he said: "... your Father knows what you need before you ask Him. Pray, then, in this way: ‘Our Father who is in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come..." Matthew 6:8‭-‬9 And... "But you, when you pray, go into your inner room, close your door and pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you." Matthew 6:6 "Whatever you ask in My name, that will I do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask Me anything in My name, I will do it." John 14:13‭-‬14 And in God's Word Jesus himself intercedes for us, not his human mother. This is exactly what it says: "Therefore He is able also to save forever those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them." Hebrews 7:25 "Christ Jesus is He who died, yes, rather who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us." Romans 8:34 And the Holy Spirit: "In the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words..." Roman 8:26 That's good enough for me. So, in conclusion, in the Bible the idea is NOT to go to the Son's human mother (or to anyone else), who then goes to the Son, who then goes to the Father with your request. No, your Heavenly Father's wish and desire is that you go DIRECTLY to Him with all your prayers and petitions. I'm not kidding. Check it out for yourself. So why go in little circles when the Father wants, and even commands, that we come directly to Him. So I humbly submit to you, in the Name above all names, in the name of Jesus, God's Holy and Perfect Word on this subject.

Oh man, superficiality that make the Kardashians look intellectual. Let's see (merely a sprinkle off the cuff) - Wedding at Cana. Jesus seated right there in their midst. Not that he didn't care. Just that saving weddings is not part of His Mission. And not only did the groom nor wine steward ask for help, no one did. But the Blessed Mother noticed, and asked. If that is not intercession, what is? The paralysed man - did he even open his mouth? We don't even know if the sick man asked his friends for a favour to see Jesus, or whether it was the friends' idea "hey I heard about this miracle worker". We don't know. But the man was silent. And lowered from the roof. And bible says, Jesus watched them, and "seeing THEIR faith" (**not** the sick man's faith, THEIR faith, in climbing up the roof). That's intercession. How about the dead girl? Try telling a dead girl "you have to pray directly to Jesus". She's dead. It was her mother. That's intercession. The centurion and his sick servant. That's intercession. The sisters of Lazarus. That's intercession. Yes, I know what you are going to say - "but it was Jesus who did the miracles". Of course it was. We all know that. ALL power and authority comes from God. No one is silly enough to say something else. The point of intercession is - SOMEONE ELSE is asking / praying / carrying the stretcher on your behalf. The sick man, the dead girl, the sick servant, the blind man. The "other people" who bring Christ to them, or them to Christ, and who add their prayers to the mix. Even (or especially) the Apostles who preached to the pagans - those pagans sure won't praying for themselves. Intercession is nothing more than a person praying for another. But "the prayers of the just man avails much" (James 5:16) - and that means Catholic Saints are more powerful than your average beer drinking TV watching friends who need to don't pray because "once saved always saved" already.
