There was an episode of Kitchen Nightmares USA where he was up against a stubborn Scouse chef in Florida. Ramsay listed some similarities including - "We're both English". Not to mention Gordon pleading to David Beckham before the 2006 World Cup - "Please, please win us the World Cup". Like him, I'm Scots born with Scots parentage and raised in the English midlands (my accent is a bit more Brummie than his) but "ah ken whur ma bread's buttered likesay"

There isn’t a “consideration” and it isn’t Limmy’s thought either. Scottish is an ethnic background. White North Western European, with an ancestral lineage to this land. Well, i suppose you get the purists out there, if they mean, Scottish as in, the ancient Irish tribe, or just from Scotland. The name Ramsay comes from Normandy and his mothers name can be Irish or English. And he did grow up in Stratford right?…He is a good ambassador for Scotland and hes an impressive fella, although, not always a good role model for chefs 😄. You can change your name and being born somewhere doesn't have any effect on your ethnicity. Not saying Ramsey isn't Scottish. He seems to be to me (accent also has no effect on your ethnicity and can be changed at will). Just pointing out that your logic is flawed. Donovan Leitch was born in Maryhill, move to St Vincent Street Anderston at 3, move to SW England at 10 and is considered Scottish. Mark Knopfler born in Bearsden, started school there then moved to England and is considered an English Geordie. John Martin was born in Surrey but moved to Glasgow as a child and is considered Scottish.

It’s all down to what they think themselves. Donovan identified with being Scottish, possibly due to the history of folk music here. Knopfler is a proud Geordie. Martyn was born in England (with a Scottish father) but was brought up between both counties, spending a lot of his young life in Scotland and he first made his name as part of the Scottish folk scene, while he attended GSOA.
