The worst part of the movie was that Earthbender prison camp. It made no damn sense how it was a prison for Earthbenders, yet they were surrounded by all the terra and ground regions and could of utilized it anytime they wanted before Aang, Katara and Sokka came. Cartoon: They were on a metal ship, and this was WAY before Metalbending became something known. It broke them, made them feel worthless. Made me scratch my head like, who the hell directed this movie? I know changes were to be made by adaption process, and if that were true, then why didn't he place them in a prison surrounded by nothing but metal structures and alloys? That would have made some sense.

Avellar3000 Unbreakable is good. Internet and culture ruined Sixth Sense. I personally enjoyed Lady in the Water. Everything else is just godawful. He needs to stick to the more indie side of film making instead of big budget stuff. The Fire Nation were Japanese! Earth Kingdom were Chinese, with Japanese and Korean influence and last time I remember there was no white water benders, they were based on the circumpolar Inuit and Sireniki Eskimo cultures. Air Nomads based on primarily on Tibetan culture, as well as the Sri Lankan Buddhism There's your diversity! You didn't have to add Indians, because the Avatar world was diverse enough. Just because they didn't have white people doesn't mean it wasn't diverse, there is a lot of cultures mixed in Avatar geez.

Xetro f Earth Kingdom was based on China. You say how do you explain dark skinned ones? There are plenty of Dark skinned chinese people, especially back in ancient times. They were the laborers, they worked in fields and villages and had dark skin from being in the sun all day. That is why Earth Kingdom nobility is always rather pale and fair skinned, they never had to work in fields. In asian cultures white skin would signify nobility while dark skin would signify poverty. Dark skin was looked down upon as a trait only the working class had during ancient Chinese times and still is today.

There's only 4 good things about this movie: 1.) It's fun reading all these comments and watching all of these rant and reaction videos about how much fans of the show and movie-goers in general despised this movie. 2.) By working on this movie, creators of the show, Bryan Koneitzko and Michael Dante DiMartino, met Seychelle Gabriel (Princess Yue) who would later voice Asami on the sequel series to Avatar: The Last Airbender; The Legend of Korra. 3.) The score by James Newton Howard. 4.) This movie was so horrendous, it made me love the cartoon so much more. And on another note, it fucking pisses me off how this douchebag thinks he's a "misunderstood artist". I get that when making an adaptation, some stuff is going to be changed or taken out. But don't add your own personal touches and take a shit on the original source material. There's so much more shit about this movie that I want to bitch about but I don't want to write a book. This movie isn't just an awful and insulting adaptation, it's just an awful movie in general that shouldn't have been made because the cartoon is fine just the way it is. And on another note, M Night should have to refund everyone who watched this abomination and apologize for ruining a great cartoon. This guy needs to accept the fact that his movie sucked and learn from his mistakes.

What's important to realize here is that M. Night is obviously promoting his movie in this interview. It would be a horrible career move to denounce his film while it is still being marketed. Just think about what happened with Josh Trank. I am not at all saying that The Last Airbender is anywhere near a good movie or that the critics were wrong. To be completely honest, Shyamalan probably could have handled this better. For example, instead of saying "the critics don't get me" he could've said something like "everybody has their own opinions" or whatnot, to avoid completely bashing critics. But the main point I'm trying to make is that if you denounce your own film or even hint at your own film being anything less than great during its marketing campaign, you'd be mad. M. Night was doing the only thing he could do by defending his film.

What separates a kids film from an adult film is simply just arbitrary rules on language, violence, drugs, and sex. Story telling , context, history, and symbolism are inherent and used in any genre for any age. That's why a grownup and a kid can watch Toy story and both come out of it happy (especially with its nuances to older mature films) Basically what he said was "shitty movies are for children" when that's not true Watch the iron giant, spirited away, UP, and tell me they are shitty kid films. They're films and they're good , they so happen to be able to transcend arbitrary rules that separates audiences.

***** I think it's a bit harsh to label The Shining as a 'generic scare movie' given how significant it has become in the tradition of horror films, and how much more effective it is than the stuff released today. The trouble with King's book is that the focus centres around the characters and their various histories, which detracts from the terror which it tries to instill. Kubrick ensured that with his film he could create a hostile and terrifying environment, which in my opinion means it deserves far more credit than the book. Also, Stephen King DID do a reboot of The Shining, a made-for-TV film in the late 90s which was nowhere near as compelling as Kubrick's version.

This movie was an absolute disaster, and an insult to all the Last Airbender fans out there. Your movie sucked, NOT because "we don't get you" or your "European influences" it sucked because IT SUCKED. It was NOT a good movie. I don't care what the Japanese people you met told you; your movie was underwhelming. Where do I even start? there are so many issues! I could literally fill up this entire page ranting about all the problems with the movie! I'll just talk about what I think are the major ones: the fact that all the Asian roles got replaced with non-Asian actors; are Asian actors that hard to come by? and no, its not me being racist; its me wanting the show to have stuck with the source material. Plus this was a good opportunity to have a movie with some new Asian stars; but nope. Lets give all the Asian actors all the minor roles in a movie that is based off of a show where every major character is Asian. Oh and trust me it gets MUCH worse The bending was an absolute disaster. that scene where it took 7 earth benders almost 10 seconds of dancing just to move a small rock was both hilarious and pathetic. The developers were given an awesome concept; but did not put in enough imagination to fully deliver. and why are fire benders now required to carry a source with them? How did the fire nation conquer everything they have at this point? they seem so weak compared to the other three elements. the character's have NO personality to them; they are all bland and boring. Sokka has no humor or any kind of strategical mind about him; Katara has NO strength or motherly affection at all, and Aang... Overall, the acting was not very good, and the characters had no personality. It felt like they were just doing it to get it done, and not giving even the SMALLEST care about what they were doing. they are child actors though, so the acting itself I am not to angry about(plus i am sure I could not do much better anyway) and to end my huge nerd rage; I honestly think Shyamalan and everyone else responsible for making this went about it the wrong way. He tried to condense a 20 episode season into... what was it... 90 minutes? when each episode is 30 minutes-an hour long? What he should have done, in my opinion(and of the opinion of whoever it was that mentioned this in that blog I read) he should have made a series out of this; like Game of Thrones, for example. an hour or so long episode once a week or so; 20 per season. Instead of having one of the characters narrate and summarize all the episodes that had to be removed just to meet a 90 minute deadline; he should have made a series out of it . alright, rant over. hope I entertained at least a few people with my incoherent ramblings.
