Ugarte for me brings a few intangibles like intensity and fighting spirit. Combine it with his ability to win a tackle he becomes invaluable. Past few seasons we've had trouble if the opposition builds momentum in possession and its translated into a big problem in being unable to hold onto leads.

What people don’t get is that your 6 must not be the build up cog. At Madrid, Kroos had that role, and Casemiro usually pushed up and was used as a decoy to drag players while also being used to bounce passes around… At United we now have Onana, Lisandro, deligt, yoro, Dalot, mazraoui, Shaw, amass, Mainoo who all are adept at buildup. The 2-4 setup also utilizes this. Ugarte has a whole lot to offer and we have to maximize the skill set. Kante was almost indispensable as a DM but he almost never had to buildup role. Disagree that the n6 NEED to be a destroyer. Study the case of Carrick, Busquets, Pirlo, Xabi alonso or Pjanic. However, a deep 6 playmaker needs two energetic N°8s in front of him... targeting spaces between the lines to get his passes (like Iniesta,XAVI or Pogba,Marchisio) In our case, Bruno is a true N°9. He wants to make things happen and can quickly lose a ball because of risky passes. That's not wrong, but it needs a destroyer behind him like Ugarte. And a fresh Mainoo. So it will work. A deep playmaker doesnt fit into our system, but it fits in other teams. At the end of the day, we all agree that Ugarte is the profile we need with this system. Really hope we sign him ❤‍🔥

If you've got Collyer, Ugarte and Casemiro, that's 3 defensive midfielders. Just like London buses, you wait years for 1 and then 3 turn up at once. Plus D mids are darn expensive a là Caicedo, so Ugarte is a great deal.

Ugarte is an explosive Casemiro. Casemiro did really in his first season. Then slowly started losing pace with the high tempo of PL. He's still very intelligent in positionning and clutch passing. But in terms of pressing, Ugarte would fill that gap. Ugarte as a starter, and Casemiro as a very good sub for the last 20-30 minutes Reminder that Eriksen & Casemiro are 99% leaving next summer, so bringing in Ugarte from now will establish our spine if we're qualifying for ChampionsLeague. With Eriksen + Casemiro out next summer (with 550,000 pounds wage out), we can look into an experienced deep playmaker like DeJong, who will only have 1 year left in his contract next summer.

I can really see the benefit of bringing in a ball winner like Ugarte this season to act as a true '6' - his defensive statistics are insane - and in the future targeting a someone who can really pull off that deep lying playmaker role, giving us the same tactical versatility in the DM position as we do at '9' with Zirkzee/Hojlund. Carl Anka of the Athletic has been strongly hinting that we could be entering a very competitive race to bring in Adam Wharton next summer.

He’s a great all rounder at LB, good defensively but a threat going forward too in the left inside channel when playing as a wing back. Plus he can play left centre half in a three at the back. No it doesn't make sense. If you take our current first team squad, we have 17 players who are of the age where they need to be registered in the A squad list for Uefa competitions, 15 for the PL as Hojlund and Yoro can be added for the PL B list but not Uefa (Haven't been here 2 seasons so don't qualify for B list). That means already as it is we have too many players and have to sell, most likely to be Pellistri. Alternatively, we would have to not register one of those 17 for Uefa competitions, which is not a good idea for squad harmony. If we want to add any more players it means selling and additional player or not registering another one. Currently our midfield options on the A list are: Casemiro Mount Eriksen McTominay We would struggle to move on any of the first three because of the wages they are on and we can't move McTominay on or we would have to leave a squad place open, defeating the purpose of selling in first place. We will also have Mainoo via the B list, and likely Collyer coming through also. So bottom line, we have depth at CM as it is, and adding another midfielder would be asinine as it would leave us with less depth than we need elsewhere. The only position we should even consider signing at this point would be a left footed CB who can also provide cover at left back, Hermoso being a suitable option. But even then there's really nobody else in the squad that we are likely to be able to move on to make space for him. Lindelof maybe being one we have a slim chance with but also unlikely given his wages.

What will happen to Ugarte when Ten Hag is sacked by Christmas? Once we replace Ten Fraud we might end up with a manager who doesnt want a double pivot and then we will look for a Rodri, Vitinha type and Ugarte will be a £50m waste. We could get Southgate and then we will play 10 at the back so Ugarte could be first on the team sheet.
