They're kicking ass on everything. Picked up a blemished dagger frame and a slide on sale for a whopping 240 bucks. So far shot near 1000 rounds of all kinds of handloads from super weak to screaming hot in it. It has not failed in any way whatsoever, not even feed/extract failures on weak loads that made way more expensive guns have problems in the past. So that means they fix the problems they find in products, apply the fixes to items going forward to improve the line, and do so at a price anyone can afford. At this point, it's no surprise to me any product they're behind ends up a winner.

Fragmentation is well documented as the main wounding mechanism for 5.56, the fact that this stuff both fragmented and retained some weight you get the best of both worlds, especially with a non bonded projectile, and for the price it’s a buy.

PSA is making so many different rounds now. That's a good thing, and the prices are way down compared to name brand ammo. This test shows the proof on the Doppler, and in the gel. 👍Most tests of these rounds almost always fragment, and that's not realy a bad thing for self defense.

In a self / home defense scenario, fragmentation is preferred, imho. You don't want the projectile going through the target and then passing through walls.

_Almost_ perfectly consistent and we can appreciate that. It's mind blowing when I see other people send rounds down range and the chronograph shows deviations of several hundreds of feet. This is the first time I've heard/seen Blade Black Tip and your testing makes me want to buy some. On another note, it ought to be **required** to label all boxes of ammunition with velocity and what barrel lengths are necessary to achieve it. Can't tell you how many times this information has eluded me. I'd pick up some Aguila and look around on all 6 sides like an idiot looking for information that isn't there. Gee, when would we ever want to know the numbers? Imagine if your car didn't have a speedometer. Just guess how fast you're going.

Hell yeah Brian! I've been checking your channel twice a day for these Black Tip results! I even bought 2 extra boxes of the 75gr to ship to you, because I only knew that you had the 62gr. I was expecting these to perform more like a varmint round, & not even have any lead-mass that penetrated that 13" & 14". Overall, these are designed to be for self protection, & if you hit any muscle in a target with this, that muscle is gonna be shredded to pieces. I already replaced all my 62g M855 reserves with AAC's Sabre Blade Black Tip 75gr, so I'm happy with these results for sure. I took it to the range this past Monday, with my 16" Springfield Hellion with a 1 in 7 twist, & my very first 5 shots at 100yds, were all touching! ...I was so blown away, that I had to shoot 2 intentional "fliers" to make sure I was actually hitting the paper! I've never shot that well with M855, ever, not even remotely close.

I think it performs exceptionally well for self-defense purposes..... immediately expands and fragments.... both meet FBI penetration criteria and weight retention of roughly 50ish %... that's pretty darn good. It does what all projectiles of that design do. No complaints, especially for the price. Personally having spent alot of my career relying on M855 until 2004ish... and then using MK318 after... the difference in stopping power was noticeable.... However in joint operations with the Army, seeing how well MK262 performed, espc at the longer engagement distances we encountered in AFG, was eye-opening. Everything has its purpose.....

Well, I live in an apartment, so I'm just fine with it dumping as much energy as possible on the first thing it touches. Obviously it's a bullet and it'll go through walls and stuff, but avoiding over penetration and minimizing barrier penetration is important to me.

Best of all i use a budget priced 16 inch w/ 1 in 8 and spent my money on good 4-12 scope, which allowed me to purchase 400 rounds of 75 saber blades and still stay under a grand in total cost... now my system is complete and waiting on suppressor to arrive. I used a plain Jane 62gr sp for hunting deer and it performed beautifully every time out to 200 yards. Massive damage and quick kills. Deer ranged from 80lbs to 200 lbs. It performed very similar to these two loads. That being said these loads in my humble opinion would make superb defensive loads.

This is great analysis. I agree with you in that less fragmentation and greater weight retention would be preferred however with roughly half the weight retained it would be acceptable for me for self defense and for thin skinned game. I think the damage done and energy transferred coupled with 13" to 14" of penetration would work well. Additionally, understanding that 5.56/.223 is highly susceptible to fragmentation of any projectile in the 100 yard range and closer, if you were to push that distance to 150 to 200 yards that fragmentation would subside, with much better weight retention and I bet the penetration might even be greater even with the velocity loss. If so this would be a winning round. I like it!

First, I love your testings. You cover many aspects and you have a great personality to present them with. With that being said, I personally like the weight loss during penetration. If those fragments are breaking away and heading in different directions, I feel the chances of popping open more arteries and veins are greater. An intruder can't keep coming at you if he doesn't have blood supplying oxygen to the muscles. That's just my 2 cents. Either way, this is probably the 5th video of yours I've watched and have decided to become a subscriber. Thanks for the great content!

👍👍great test and results. Appreciate the video. As long as I get adequate penetration the fragmentation doesn’t bother me for a self defense round but would not want it to fragment in a hunting round.

The rounds look like they will do the job. The shot deviation is so close, that I would think they would be very accurate. Thanks for the great comparison video.

That weight retention is much better than you would get from a SMK or other OTM. If you want total weight retention you gotta get a gold dot or federal power shok. Those would be perfect for two legged animals in my opinion.

Thank you very much. I'm a little torn about the fragmentation. Retention i believe would create a larger wound cavity but fragging would possibly cause a shredding effect. Definitely be a lot more work for a surgeon if the biped mammal made it to a "vet".

I'm so glad PSA bought AAC Ammo. They have inventory at fair prices of all the most common calibers....

Thank you for this test can I suggest testing them out of a smaller 11.5”. So many pistol length setups out there and it would be interesting to see what happens with that much less velocity.

Looks like one of the best wound channels I’ve ever seen. If you in a self defense situation your going to dump that energy in the target and leaving a big wound. What is it your looking for? They already make green tip penetrators if that’s what you want the bullet will just poke right through.

What I like about these... is that they perform are loaded with lower SD (for factory non-match rounds) and they are CHEAP.... I bought 20 boxes of the 75gr at 10.99 a box!! forget about it. That's literally nothing compared to the other self defense 5.56 ammo (between 18-35 a box). Great job PSA and keep them coming! 308 saber rounds maybe?

I keep coming back to this vid comparing it to other vids testing other loads I've either used or seen used in hunting or in duty situations. I really think the 62gr would be good but I truly believe the 75gr load would be outstanding. I believe I have found my stack it deep ammo.

Not sure why folks are commenting about these rounds for game. They're clearly marketed for self defense. Another job well done by PSA.

Great video two thumbs up👍👍. You are one of the few gun person that does the ballistic gel correctly. I want to see what the bullet will do after the denim and clothing test. Then into the gel block. By the way, great hat! A real signature calling card to remember you 👍.

Really appreciate your testing of both of these rounds. PSA has their Independence day sale on these rounds and I've been tempted but wasn't sure of their performance. Now I know and I'm going to be placing my order, thanks again for your videos. Its jelly time LOL.
