As an Asian myself, I can say that Asians are conservative in nature. Bobby acting like he doesn't know maybe has to do with him living in California and the industry he's in. The bubble is thick in that part of the country. People tend to become the people they surround themselves with, and California is a great example of this. In Japan, Trump and Shinzo Abe were very good friends. This was not an accident, Abe was very similar to Trump in many ways. He may not have shared Trump’s love of going off-script and his brashness, but on policy, Trump, Abe, and the Japanese people in general share many of the same values. Interesting perspective! I am American who grew up in Japan. In my observation, Abe was SUPER slick and played along with Trump, although he didn’t share Trump’s values (there are footages where Abe would smile and nod, ostensibly in agreement with Trump, only to be caught rolling his eyes immediately following it). Abe was the only leader who insisted on breaking the tradition and serving burgers and fries when Trump visited Japan, and all other nations served their local delicacies (and we know how Trumps doesn’t really enjoy them). Following that visit, Trump never stopped raving about Japan. Abe got on Trump’s good side and the US-Japan relationship went smoothly, as a result.
