I had never seen Donald Trump opening his heart like this, he even seemed compassionate and caring about Theo’s addiction, without judgement . Honestly, if you watch older stuff of him you realize he is a businessman. When he's trying to sell something, the whole conversation will steer towards how great this thing is. If he's endorsing someone, he steers it toward how great that person is. If he's running for public office... It's how great he would be and how terrible the other person would be. @@MarcYanruw It is a part of his strategy. I know people like to act like we are a cult that thinks Trump is always playing 4d chess. But after reading The Art of the Deal and following Trump closely for a long time I can say that he is always maneuvering and planning and thinking about his next steps forward. Exaggerating things is just a strategy so people who watch things or listen or read while drooling and barely taking in the information will actually focus in on the important parts of his message. It also forces the media to cover it and because what Trump says is mostly truth with some exaggeration they just look stupid attacking it.

@@Umtree Been in business for a while now. Yes, many companies center their networking/team building things around alcohol (or involve it to some extent). But i think its a stretch to say that you cant move up if you dont indulge. Ive never seen anyone not invited just because theyre abstinent. Most people arent drinking to excess anyways, so nobody really cares if someone gets a soda instead of a margarita. Sure, it can help bring you closer to people to share a beer together, but the same can be accomplished through other means (or drinks). If anything in my experience, abstinent people get more respect from others because most people understand how hard it is to resist the peer pressure. And most people also realize that many people who choose to abstain are doing so because they know they have a problem and are showing incredible strength/responsibility/resilience by not drinking.

Graduated college, and I got into law school on drugs. Wrote my application essay high on opiates. Ive had many drug phases: weed phase, alcohol phase, opioid phase. Weed was the least harmful, except for brain fog and blowing my money. Nobody will understand how tragic and horrifying addiction is until you or a loved one has been through it. No cure, except for medications and group therapy/personal change. Trumps logic has validity; If you don’t start, you won’t know what you’re missing.

This is not a change for Trump. He has talked exactly like this for years, long before he was shot. The problem is no one in the mainstream media has ever shown these kinds of interviews with the man or straight up refused these kinds of interviews, the minute they knew he was getting popular. So these kinds of interviews only get watched by Trump fans, not the average person. But this is not different behaviour from him after the shooting. This is just his normal demeanor in an interview when the interviewer isn't trying to attack him, mock him or try to target him for his politics

I always am taken back to hear these very successful people who i look up to struggle with addictions that the common person suffers from. Ive always been blessed because i CAN control my drinking and hate doing it except on VERY rare occcasions. My brother and dad were drug addicts so ive NEVER touched them, maybe because im the youngest, and i never had any intrest in smoking cigs. The one thing i did struggle with was weed once it became legal, but gave it up for the Army. Best decision to give it up cause it made me super anxious and it was super expensive. God bless any of you who struggle with ANY sort of addiction. I wish you the best.
