If Mr. Codrington wants to use Leviticus 18:22 as the immediate context of 18:21 then he also should do the same with Leviticus 18:23 to be consistent. If laying with a man like with a woman is condemned only in the context of cultic activity but in other cases it is permitted then laying with animals would be meant in the same way - as an service to Moloch it would be forbidden but in other instances it is perfectly OK. Right?

That's the folly of their argument; they say that Leviticus is for only those who practice "cultist" worship. Really? If that were so, then why didn't God insert that little escape clause into this text? Answer, because it's an abomination regardless, be it cultist or not in a cult. God wiped out these nations since they practiced such abominations, and if so then he would have to turn and wipe out Israel too if they did the same. No, doing these things, whether in a cult, church or in a synagogue is evil and sinful! These people really annoy me in the sense that they look into scripture to find answers to support their upholding of gay marriage and such and when they don't find it, they insert their own beliefs right into scripture and call it as "sound doctrine"! I guess from that perspective one could read scripture and get a great recipe for pizza; however this is not how scripture is written and we are not to insert any sin into God's word and then twist it to make it seem as if God approves of it and scripture is very clear on this subject and these people don't like it one bit. And it's not just the homosexuals; it's Catholics, Mormons, Jehovah's Witnesses, Word of Faith, NAR and the like! They want what their itching ears and strangled hearts in sin to have whatever they desire; acceptance of sin on any platform or by any means, even using scripture to justify it! Their condemnation is well deserved.

No, I think that misrepresents Codrington’s argument. In a nutshell, he has said that he believes there are committed, covenant “gay” relationships. Covenants are between adult humans; not sheep, donkeys, “fourteen horses”, etc. White does say that he does not believe Condrington has a solid biblical or logical basis for his claims. And it's mentioned so clearly that it's weird people even argue about it. I get that some people struggle with same sex attraction, and I don't believe that having these feelings means you can't be a Christian anymore. But it's important as Christians to modify the way we see issues into conformity with the revelation of the Bible.

God has implemented in marriage the formula for salvation, where he is the groom, and mankind the bride. We as the woman are corrupt and must die, yet God offers to save us from our corrupt nature. But we must deny ourselves and marry him if we want to inherit his perfect nature. It's the only way. Then we produce an offspring of new the new creature that is a hybrid of god in us and us in God, so we go on as sons, but the mother dies. We the woman must inherit the nature of whom we marry. If we don't marry God (our opposite sex) we can not be reborn as the new life, for a new life only occurs between the bride and the groom. Here lies the problem with homosexuality: If the bride (man kind) is NOT attracted to her groom (GOD), she is active in spiritual homosexuality, she rather loves herself or another of her corrupted kind. Spiritual homosexuality, prevents that relationship that produces new life to save us. Likewise, marrying satan spiritually would give birth in us his corrupt nature. This is all spiritual. Now, god has said in romans, that because of this, we give glory to creation (ourselves and demons) rather than the creator (God) because we acted in this spiritual homosexuality of not being attacked to God, God himself gave them a reprobate mind so they act in the flesh the homosexuality that manifested spiritually first, leaving the natural use, man with man, and woman with woman, rejecting the nature of God incorruptible for animals and man corruptible. To manifest in the flesh the doomed ways of their spiritual behavior.

I used to have my primary school awards evenings in this church building. I would've loved to see and possibly meet Dr. White, what a great man of God and epic debater. I don't however think that this was much of a debate. Graeme clearly demonstrated that he does not believe the Bible even though he tried to assert many times that he does. The debate was about what the Bible says about marriage, not what Graeme says about marriage. We as christians are called to love all sinners, including gay people and therefor to share the saving gospel of Christ with them and the world. To allow any sinner to continue in sin and say God approves is a lot less loving than standing firm in the Word and waving the warning flags as to call sinners to repentance. When Codrington stated (approx 1hr 10 mins) that if he uses the same methodology (exegetical) that Dr. White uses to get to trinitaranism, he gets to gay marraige. Dr. White probably didn't notice that part but Codrington sneakily used the same methodology which was isogesis rather than exegesis. Notice that when he starts to say that God would regard "SOME" homosexual relations/activities as sin, right from there he started with an assumption and tried to put it into the text. When you use exegetical methods to get to the Diety of Christ you don't start with that as an assumption and insert it into scripture to validate your assumption. Ths is exactly what Codrigton did in this debate time and again. He's either being deliberately dishonest or he totally mis understood what exegetical methodology actually is.

I thought Dr. White handled the subject very well, and provided not just really helpful answers, but a good understanding of the fundamental question itself. The debate is, as you could guess, basically the Bible on one side and human desire on the other. One thing I didn’t hear brought up though: If your purpose was simply companionship with the same sex, there is nothing wrong with that. It’s called a good, loving, friendship. It does not require sexual relations, immorality, or pretending to be married. Godly friendship is a legitimate way to love, and it does not require sin.

I don't see how it needs to be a positive case for "God approves of gay marriage." Like they mention in their answer to the question of making a commandment against gay marriage, God shouldn't be expected to list every single acceptable action in the Bible. "You can do ____. You can do ___. You can do ___." nonstop. Plus, the question of the debate (read the title) is whether God restricts marriage to heterosexuality. You can answer "no" just by denying the opposing positive case. You don't need your own one.

If the context in Leviticus is condemning just the Canaanite religion or their version of homosexuality, then why didn't the Israelites who first received the law see that? If that's the case, then "proper" homosexuality should've been legal in the days of Moses & Joshua; however, we know that's not the case! His argument is old, unoriginal and not well thoughtout. If that's the case, then we shouldn't condemn prostitution either, if Leviticus is only condemning pagan temple practices.

While this debate is a no-brainer, the fair argument by the negative side was presented: if Christians can change what they believe regarding other doctrines, why not this one too? I wouldn’t agree he assessed each one correctly in his list, but some fair comparisons are made. This is where the Church is weak; it has compromised, both regarding plain biblical doctrine, as well as godly tradition, and has allowed for further compromise, such as what Codrington represents: accepting sodomy and changing the nature of marriage. Perhaps the fairest comparison is to the Church’s acceptance of divorce and remarriage. Not only that, but the right to privacy the Supreme Court discovered when it legalized contraception, was shortly after used to legalize abortion. The SAME privacy “right” was mentioned in Obergefell in 2015. If a man and a woman can do whatever they want in bed, then so can a man and a man. Likewise, the use of the “cultural” argument, which is a mainstay of the pro-sodomy crowd has already been used to abandon biblical doctrines by more orthodox Christians. The claim that one can assert a plain instruction in the New Testament is just “mere culture” and doesn’t apply to us, is awful interpretation, unless you can really prove your point. Yet if regular Christians can throw around the culture argument to write off the woman’s submission, to write off the role of the homemaker, to write off modesty of apparel, to write off head coverings, and to write off footwashing (which all come down to plain New Testament instructions), then why not use the culture argument to get rid of the hetero-sex nature of marriage? The point is not to rub the Church’s hypocrisy in its face for the sake of rubbing it, but to establish that Christians need to learn to respect the Holy Bible much more than they do, and then to live it. Christians need to repent of their own liberalism, compromise, and immorality. Then we’ll see what happens with the rest of the world. Start with respecting the lifelong nature of marriage (which kind of goes along with its man-woman nature), obey it in your lives, and uphold it in your churches. Let’s have a biblical, God-centered worldview, for real. Let’s lead a biblical God-centered life. The Church must end its compromise with the devil.

In the 1400's the bible was not translated that way. Why? Paul made up the word used for "homosexual" why? The truth is simple. A true Christian just knows this lifestyle was never meant to be. Satan once said 'Surely Hath God Said." Now his followers says the same. What is evil parades our streets as good that opens doors to remove God that hates this to create a new god that honors it. This removes God as good to evil and the created god evil into good. God foretold this would happen that is being fulfilled. Demon's increase as God is removed to honor demon's with opened doors to remove God that Satan be the new god. I don’t see how Jesus’ main ministry was to tell us what’s right and what’s wrong. If that was the case the gospel would read like a rulebook. It does not. So maybe it is not your purpose in live to tell everyone what’s right and wrong.
