Nauls' death was never filmed but has a storyboard/concept art. A partially transformed Blair was supposed to grab him. This form of Blair is known known as the "Blair Box Monster".

That part you mentioned about the thing being dumbed down to a zombie virus I disagree with, if you remember in the movie, windows got bitten and thrown around by his head during the blood test scene and was covered by that goo stuff, he was turned into a thing within mere seconds and was burned right after, you can even here him squeal

That system was broken and is still broken. It isn’t good and just half assed. A lot of time a character will just be fine and never ever transform unless you test them. Which means if you never test them they won’t transform, which makes it pointless unless you just wanna kill something. Also the side character were always programmed to stop following you at point and now since they don’t always transform, they just stand awkwardly while you move on through a vent or elevator. Still a fun game but overpriced I say. I bought it, beat it in like 4 hours.

yeah, exactly...which is why I won't spend money on this, I'll stick with the one I have w/ modded hd textures already. This looks nice and all, but if the core mechanics are the same then it's a pass for me

Have you tired The Thing Remastered continuity mod? I tried it and it is pretty cool! It removes a lot of the scripted squad member assimilation and deaths. Though MOST already assimilated squad members still infected expect a couple. And it allows you to bring squad mates through all the levels. (Sadly, Carter and Cruz still can't be saved but it might be because it's hard coded...) I even managed to save Collins! It also makes the game harder by making it darker, removing engineer immunity as well as increasing the assimilation chance and reduces a lot of the ammo and items in the level. It is still a very work in progress mod and has some of bugs as well as not all levels are complete, and it does crash a couple times. But it was very fun to play so I wish the mod developer good luck!

16:10 I was able to actually save the guy from turning but if he stays in the boss fight room too long he loses it. You need to push him into the exit room of the level, but it didn't matter because he didn't show up the next level. I still save him from turning though

Decent enough remaster but I feel we missed something due to opportunity cost. This is one of the few titles that was in a dire need of a _Remake_, to actually make all the implied-but-absent mechanics part of it. Something now we'll never get, alas.

The glowing aura effect for the flashlight in the original The Thing game was only present in the PS2 version of the game. The Xbox and PC versions were more similar to the new remastered version.

Fun fact There are some gameplay pictures of The Thing II out there, including one texture model and three models of the Bio Beast. Additionally, there is animation footage showing how they transformed. Another fun fact is that during the Xbox 360 and PS3 era, a game adaptation of The Thing movie was being developed. One of The Best Remastered I ever Played This Year on My Xbox Series X (I loved soo much That The Models of some Characters Were Remodelled Like Whitley to fit more with The Next Gen). Ps Watched The Original Movie Before Purchasing and Playing This Game and in My Opinion it was Spectacular! (Perhaps in The Future when I Have Time I will watch The 2011 Prequel).

I think they should have force infected the mandatory infected npc's earlier. So a test would reveal them, albeit earlier than planned.

I think the game having an actual infection system is not far from the game: Didn't Mcready had to burn people who got bitten by the alien? To me it implies getting those particles from claws or fangs, once they transform, WILL turn you too. The alien enters you, either eats you or does it at the microbiological size.

Actually it's explained that some people, like Blake, are immune to the Thing's invasive cells. Sure it's a way for your character to stay in one piece like protagonists in a zombie game.... but then again, how did the government know to make use of people like Blake?

While it was a relatively fun game and i DID enjoy it, it does baffle me how this game is actually good at small little details that relate to the source material, but the ACTUAL meat of the experience is just so extremely far off. The monsters don't really feel like the thing, there's just not enough variety and nowhere near enough stealth. Hell, they literally refer to it as "thing infection" which is really stupid. You'd think that they would have an actual name for the organism they're researching rather than just "oh yeah ummm that thingy" It just fails to deliver that same sense of paranoia that the franchise is known for. I will admit that it was genuinely kind of anxiety inducing for the first quarter of the game but once you figure out how everything works, it just feels so...generic. I really didn't enjoy the shooter aspect of the game, cause i feel like a survival horror game would've been significantly better for an official Thing video game, but eh, i guess it's an old game As a really passionate fan of the movie (it's my favorite movie of all time), i DID enjoy it on my first playthrough, but i think it's way too overpriced. 15 dollars feels like the max for this game. I'm just really hoping we'll receive an Alien Isolation-like survival horror game based on the Thing franchise. Now THAT would be amazing

So, from an outside perspective, your vtuber thing is kind of offputting since it only has two animations and keeps bobbing its head like it's constantly agreeing with you instead of representing you. Get yourself something to do some motion capture.
