This is probably the only car where you can BEAT claimer FE figures on a regular basis without much effort. I had one as a rental a couple of months back, and on a 10km local suburban loop, I saw 2.9L/100. Just insane!!

I've found the claimed hybrid fuel consumption data to be achievable. However, the ICE figures, combined and urban are not achievable. So the difference in fuel consumption is greater, and the hybrid powertrain should be paid back sooner. If you do a lot of driving, the hybrid becomes a compelling choice.

What is the point in reviewing this car? If you go to the dealer they will tell you you need to wait 12 months. Then after 8 months they will email you and tell you the price has increased $5000 (although $1200 was for a dash cam you didn't ask for).... Sounds unbelievable? This happened to me. I don't go near Toyota now.

I used to always buy Toyotas but now after owning a Mazda 3, I'm finding I prefer them in pretty much all aspects. I personally believe it is a better looking and also the most satisfying drive when put side by side. I know it comes down to personal preference, but once I thought I would never make the switch from Toyota. In the end, it comes down to a matter of taste and while on that subject, mine is for red jelly beans!
@WorksOnMyComputer Жыл бұрын
These cars drive great and are more fun to drive than they probably should be. There is also no question Toyota have nailed the hybrid drivetrain and the car really does switch seamlessly between engine and battery and fuel economy is impressive..... but they are the least well packaged car I have ever sat in. They are absolutely awful at usable space - so much so it's like being a class below the Corolla in size when it comes to practicality. That and given Toyotas price, is it really too much to ask for better ergonomics, decent sound from the radio and quality soft touch materials in their cars? Maybe they can go and take a look at what Mazda can do at this price point. The interior really feels like Toyota was dragged kicking and screaming from the '90s when it comes to the grade of plastics and trim in the car. The colour displays are all low resolution and poorly laid out and the sound system is decidedly average to poor, depending on what you have been used to. There are hints of a quite sporty car there, but overall a great drivetrain in search of a well packaged and presented car to go around it.

Toyota is really falling behind when it comes to attention to detail. On paper it all looks and sounds great. The hybrid system puts them out on their own - seriously nobody comes close. Unfortunately the cost cutting is just over the top. There is no hood liner in the engine bay which makes it look embarrassing for the money. When you look at the sedan up close the in the boot, it’s horrible. Poor quality detail such as cables wrapped around the exposed gooseneck opening and the paper thin boot floor is just nasty. Once you sit in a Mazda 3, it’s an eye opener. It’s like the hybrid tech is the only compelling reason to even look at this and now the recent price increases have just made this such a joke. It’s so sad that this is just so cheaply made it’s frankly embarrassing. No other brand is doing this - even the Corolla cross has the same issues. I really thought Toyota had the best small car. Up close however it’s yuk.

I need a car with a large boot to carry 2 large pieces of luggage and fit 3 or 4 passengers on need. I can only fit a car of 4.7 metres or less into my small garage. My previous 2 cars were both Corolla hatches bought brand new and the 2015 version I used to own had ample booth and rear seat space and plenty of rear seat leg room. I'm disappointed in the new Corolla design which compromised on rear seat and booth space. So sorry Toyota, this time I've' ordered a new Kia Cerato which suits my requirements a lot better. Time to re-design your Corollas again for more rear seat and booth space in your hatchback before I buy another one.
