Static balance was the only way I was able to improve my riding during the winter. Love it!

I'm so proud of both of you, but especially Alexis as I feel that's part of what holds her back, not feeling comfortable at slow speeds and losing her balance because she relies too much on putting her feet down. Keep it up and you'll be kickin' butt in no time!

Guys check out Rich Larson ( the IRC Tire guy) has heaps of drills and one is his static balance drill. As Lexis said it helps in trail and hard enduro tight single trail riding.

I found that the trick to doing a static stand with the wheel straight is to start with the wheel turned first to get your balance and then slowly inch it around straight.

Having good balance for someone short riding a tall bike is key. Ask me how I know this. Great video! Lou
@AUSTIN_RIDES5 ай бұрын
The secret is to do it with the wheel turned, and small adjustments to the front wheel make the bike stand up or lay further over towards the direction the bike is leaned. Much easier to make micro adjustments with the bars than it is leaning the whole bike with your legs. This is how all the trials pros do it unless they are on something skinny and how I was taught when I started trials. Try it with the front wheel down hill slightly as it makes it even more sensitive and it will all make sense.

I'm 40 years older and started riding dirty bikes 3 1/2 years ago, but I don't have much spare time to practice because I work a lot, I'm a much better rider now but I feel like I should be much better by now, but I'm not, obviously my problem is that I don't practice at all, only when I ride on weekends. 3 weeks ago I started practicing the static balance and I already feel the difference, I feel much more comfortable going downhills which has been one of my weakest points, I'm also much better on rocky terrain and on corners, I'm a bit faster now and I'm definitely enjoying riding much more, in conclusion, the static balance drills helps a ton, I'm gonna keep practicing all the time now, great video guys, I love your channel.

Defiantly a benefit. If your stuck in a hole or close to an obstacle you can balance with your feet on the pegs and then collect motentom with the clutch and compresse the suspension and release the clutch to gain momentum quickly to get unstuck or over that obstacle. Watch some of the hard enduro guys. I did notice you kind of dug a hole with the front wheel turn it it... that helps with balance static. Something I need to practice.

I feel like a really applicable drill would be to upset the suspension and then stick a static hold. Then repeat.

See I’ve questioned this ever sense Hard Enduro posted the video last year of the pro enduro guys doing this and the longest was like 18 seconds.
