You are not giving yourself enough credit. Your small purple improv piece is so nice. Put a binding on it and be proud!! And your sketches are excellent improv beginnings. Stop saying the “put down” comments and start believing in your abilities because your improv designs are awesome!! ❤

That purple piece would be a great pillow or a zippered pouch. So many possibilities.

I really thought my efforts were very mediocre, but after all the kind comments on this video I think I've been suffering by comparing myself to other quilters. I need to practice being kinder to myself. 😊

I've been meaning to do a mini quilt wall for quite awhile... Maybe I should finally bind it up and get started!❤️

I love both pieces, the quilt as you go, and the wedge piece. For the wedge, I prefer the landscape orientation. It seems to have more movement, and the wedge itself reminds me of a spotlight at a movie premiere. I love how you problem solved, and had the courage to share your thoughts and process, not knowing how things would turn out. I think you have great potential as an improv quilter, and I hope you continue to explore improv quilting. Do what makes you happy, and don't worry about how others will receive or perceive your designs. Your style is your own. Be proud of it.

❤️❤️❤️Thank you so much for your kind words!❤️❤️❤️ I'll have to look at the piece again to see the spotlight, that never occurred to me. I was thinking of it as more of a rip or tear. I think that's one of my favorite things about improv quilting, it's open to interpretation. Everyone who views it brings a different perspective to it and I think that's lovely. I plan to continue improv quilting, but I'm not sure when I'll work up the courage to do a full sized quilt. For now I'm going to stick with mini quilts and scraps.😊

I agree with others who encourage you to believe in yourself and give yourself credit. You're a *very* talented quilter, crafter, designer, teacher. I love watching how you teach and encourage others, from beginners to veteran quilters. And your voice is *so* warm and encouraging and approachable. I don't believe in "manifesting" things by speaking them, but I know we listen to ourselves when we tell ourselves that we're good enough. And sometimes be begin to believe the negative things we hear. Don't be your own worst critic. Remember - "Comparison Is the Thief of Joy"!

Thank you! I always enjoy the process (and using up the scraps), but I think I need to work on not comparing myself to the more advanced improv quilters. 😊

I really, really like your work! Your solution to the center is almost-but-not-quite the brilliant technique of foundation paper piecing. The fact that you came up with this on your own shows how good your instincts are. I’m going to repeat what lots of folks have said: you are being waaaay too hard on yourself. If you like what you’re making, you’re doing it right. The whole idea of improvisation is that there are not strict rules. Make the quilt that you want to make, and try not to worry about what other folks are doing. And be more accepting of your ideas and your process. I promise, the quilt police do not have you on a watch list!

Thank you so much! ❤️ I laughed out loud when I read "I promise, the quilt police do not have you on a watch list!" Hilarious! 😆 I think it's hard to find the line between healthy criticism and unhealthy criticism. Without healthy criticism it's hard to grow and improve and with unhealthy criticism it can be really hard to stay motivated and try new things. It's definitely something I need to work on!

I've been quilting over 20 years, these pieces are beautiful! When I was younger I worried more which way was right, now I do what I want cause there are NO rules to quilting! I would consider this totally improv drawing or not its coming from your imagination and creativity! Keep on sewing and just enjoy the process, even the frustrations!

Thank you so much. ❤️ I've been quilting for a long time too, but I'm still relatively new to improv. I'm hoping to do a lot more of it in the future because I want to start working on more original designs.

Thank you! ❤️ Improv seems to incorporate so many different things I have a hard time figuring out what is improv and what isn't. I would LOVE to take an improv class! There don't seem to be any in my area and all the big quilt shows are too far away. I think I'm going to look into getting some improv quilting books. 😊
