Tears and rain, they are the two ‘waters’ most likely to break down my waterproof makeup fastest. Also as a very oily-skinned person, I know that nothing waterproof works as my oil breaks it down quickly. I've switched to bobby brown gel eyeliner and Kevin Aucoin tubing mascara which seems to work better for me.

I am also very oily skinned - my face oils melt make-up off my face. But- I will say if I use the Nars eyeshadow primer it holds beautifully - even swimming and sweating all day.

I think something Steve Mould mentioned in his latest video might be at play too. Water dissolves water-based products because they are both polar. But when you introduce salt with chloride ions with high electronegativity, the polar water is very attracted to them. So the polar water molecules are too strongly pulled on by the chloride to be able to interact with the polar makeup in this case.

ok I'm pausing around 15:19 to put in my guess. I expect that the issue is that the salt water dries out your skin and since the water is what's lifting up and carrying the makeup away, it is sticking better(and later the chlorinated water will do this too). Locking in my guess now.

My answer to the title of the video: Yes, yes it does, at least my mascara does, it works great, and I ain't no gatekeeper so it's called: "Liquid eyelash extensions mascara, ibcccnda mascara" Looks great, it's a bit hard to get off though, but a decent makeup remover will do the trick. The brush that comes with it kinda sucks though so I use the disposable ones
