Nice video Chris 👍 I am using Tunebot myself for some time now. Reso 380 and batter 280 is a great way to start with and after that some fine tuning and in most cases you get the perfect sound but that's my own experience. Get a fat snare 370 reso and batter 270 works great also that's with my 10 lugs snare. Eight lugs I have 385 reso and 273 batter. Greetings from Austria 🙂👍

The only thing is the snare beds always give goofy readings for me anyway so ai always end up having to do those by ear.

Bass drum felt beater will help you prevent denting the snare reso.. snare head being tighter makes you need to hit harder for the tunebot to react.. or you can place the tunebot close to where u hitting it

I use a 400 tune bot setting on my snare side and a 300 on my batter side. Produces around a G note. Sounds awesome on my 5x14 wood and 6.5x14 steel. Try it out tune botters

Just a tip I wouldn't use a stick to hit the reso. It's so thin your likely to dent it!

Very nice video, just a sidenote, the lugs next to the snarebed are ok to be up to 10hz lower than the rest, this is because of the snare beds in the bearing edge. If its more than 10 hz difference you need to fix it but 5-10 hz should be considered a normal difference

I just tried the Tune Bot for the first time today. I noticed very different readings even at the same lug. Sometimes drastic differences. Same lug without changing anything would come up at 130 and then 400. Is this normal or am I doing something wrong?

tune-bot.com/instructions/ Check Step 3 specifically about using the Filter. Only strike once per reading and aim for about 1-2 inches away from each lug toward the center. Often the overtones will cause the tunebot to read drastically different pitches. Also make sure the bottom of the drum is muted by placing it on a carpet rug or the floor. Hope the link helps!

I'm a beginner drummer. I bought a Tama imperialstar kit and just changed out the factory heads with Remo emperor coated. I downloaded a tuning app and I'm happy with where I have the Toms. I have no idea what I'm doing I just went off settings I found online. I didn't change out the factory reso heads as this kit as it's brand new. I tuned the reso on the toms but left the snare at how it came from the factory. The reso is at 480. That seems high doesn't it? I'll play around with different settings but (again) I have no idea what sounds good or bad. And then there's the snare wires. I don't know how tight or loose they should be.

Good stuff! I have a few recommendations.. first of all if you are using your phone to tune your drums it will be very difficult for it to register any frequencies below 200hz.. the microphone in our phones aren’t made to pick up the bass notes which is probably why you’re seeing 400hz. I’ll share a link with you that has great info about drum sizes and some recommended tunings. My preference is usually for lower tunings with minimal resonance. If you’re into country, rock, or folk music you might even want to put some moon gel and tape on your heads to get a dry sound. The snare wires should not rattle when they aren’t being hit… you want the snare wires to have a natural decay to them. Loosen the throttle all the way, make sure the clutch is up, then start hitting your snare.. as you hit the snare start to tighten the wires.. you’ll hear the wires get more and more “tight” sounding.. typically you’ll want to hear the wires rattle as soon as you hit the snare and quickly die off.. excessive rattle just sounds like your snare is broken so I prefer tight. If you got the money for it, I highly recommend the tune-bot.. I’ve used mine for years.. saves a lot of time and is consistent tune-bot.com/tuning-guide/

@@heychrisgreen table 4 medium resonance is exactly where I have my Toms. It sounds better than it did with the factory heads but I don't know what they were tuned at. I played around with my snare and it's much better. I have the wires way tighter than I did before. They used to rattle just by hitting other toms. I thought about getting the tune bot but figured I'd try the phone app. You're probably correct about the microphone but as a beginner drummer who's just practicing it'll work for now. Thanks for the reply

I usually Google search “Drum Frequency Chart” and they’ll have many good charts. The one I use specifically in this video I’ve uploaded to my Google drive. Thanks for watching! drive.google.com/drive/folders/1r8K4n7akPPA_1QsI_sRqhi-k50yw1wpn?usp=share_link
