I don’t know if it’s just missing from the clips, but the lack of concern from the defendant’s really irked me. You have a small timid child who was hurt and you came into court attempting to blame him for your dog’s bad behavior? It rubbed me wrong. If you need to stop and stand to the side to attempt to control your dog, you already have previous knowledge that your dog might cause a problem. It sounds like the dog is untrained, unsocialized, or has a bad temperament. Why attempt to evade accountability when you clearly know.

There’s someone out there who thinks that they get aggressive with Judge Judy. Big news, is they can’t. Or that they can make her look like a fool. But the think is, and note this is what she’s said before. “They don’t keep me up here because I’m gorgeous, they keep me up here, because I’m smart.”

@Ellie5621 he could have still come up close from behind if he passed her, then walked back a bit and got himself bitten. Many kids these days think they can just walk up to strange dogs and pet them without asking first, maybe that's what he did when the woman's back was turned. I've had similar things happen to me when I've had my dog. I was stood in a bus shelter, there was someone there asking me about her, he did ask if he could stroke her and I said no, she doesn't know you and she will nip. He kept asking, and I carried on saying no, it wasn't until I looked up the road to check for my bus, that the dumb sh*t suddenly bent down and stroked her, and guess what, he got nipped. I did tell him not to many times. He still wasn't happy and continued bemoaning the fact she'd nipped him. His own fault not mine or my dogs. She was quite happy sitting there by my feet, being a good girl. Now kelsey would only do things like that if she was scared. If people ignored her, she would be fine. She never growled or barked at anyone. Now, she was only very scared of men. She was scared of women too, but not to the extent with men. Due to a past traumatic experience.

We adopted a dog from a family with young kids because the dog couldn't be trusted not to bite them. He's had extensive training to correct it but he's still prone to snapping on occasion. Its really not that difficult to keep kids and strange dogs away from him. He's friendly as long as nothing is scaring him, but he has a glass nerve and a stubborn nature. If there's going to be kids in the house we just have the dog out and vice versa. He used to wear a muzzle on walks but since he's very well behaved on the lead we just tell people passing by not to put their hands near his mouth and that's been fine. We obviously can't tie him up outside a store or let him play at the park off lead, but he has enough freedom to run around the yard with the other dogs at home. Some people can't deal with the fact that old dogs don't change. They praise bad behaviour in puppies and fail to do anything to manage it when the dog is older. Once the dog is an adult there's a limited amount you can do to train them and all dogs have some personality quirks. Having a bad dog doesn't mean you're a bad person, it just means taking the extra steps to keep other people safe around them. Our rescue it a dangerous little bugger but he always feels very guilty after biting someome. He doesn't want to do it, but he can't help his instinct when he feels scared. No idea why he's so messed up since the family who gave him up were lovely and sweet but I think they treated him like a baby instead of a dog since he's quite sure he belongs on a couch and not outside. He gets better all the time, but i doubt there will ever be a time when he can be trusted not to bite.

BS. There can be lots of reasons why the dog bit the child. And I don't mean, it was the child's fault. The least plausible story is Judge Judy's jealousy. More likely the dog feels the urge to protect the baby and to raise it, that's what his instincts tell him. The dog didn't try to kill the boy, he bit him, because the first warning, barking, had no effect. That's why the mum needs to react and like Judy said, get out of the way of the boy. At home, she either needs to train the dog with the baby or she needs a dog trainer to help her. But as usual it is easier to call the dog aggressive and get rid of him then to put in work.

Always a possibility. I was bitten by a dog myself when I was a teenager. Mostly I felt bad because the owner had to punch his pooch in the head to get her to let go of me. Thankfully, and probably as an animal person I didn’t develop a fear of dogs. But I feel for people who do get traumatized by situations like these. Unlike this lady, the guy walking the dog that bit was probably more traumatized than I was, since I was the first instance of it happening.

I've been extremely wary of dogs always, but more so after one just leapt a tiny fence and savaged my arm. If I hadn't opted to carry a fold up umbrella which I hit his nose with, I may have had worse injuries. To this day, no idea why he took an instant dislike to me, but dogs are territorial, and it looked like the owner was home so dog was on full guard duty. Owner never came out when I yelled out to them either. Reported it straight to the police station with my arm still bleeding. Actually I didn't want the dog put down; the owner however should have been flogged 20 times for not securing his animal properly. If we did this instead of putting the animals down willy-nilly, owners would be far more careful.

Like what could they do then. A responsible owner when an party goes near the dog should tightly grip the leash, make it short and make sure the aggressive dog does not go near another party or if they have shown aggression in the past need to be nuzzled for both it's safety and the publics safety. defendants should understand that dogs are the "easy mode" of pets. when handling animals, you should be vigilant and remember they could bite anytime. and if they do, as the owner, it's your responsibility. instead this couple are dodging the responsibility and blaming it on the kid that got bit. if you cant handle it, walk the baby or the dog, not both at the same time!

This case reminds me of an issue we had at the kids playground, this older couple would walk their dogs but would take the leashes off and let them run around, well I went up to them and pointed out the sign at the park that said, dogs must wear leashes , and they put the dogs on the leash and head over to the other end of the park. A few days later they came back and did the same thing, and instead of trying to reason with these people my sister and I left, as we walked back to her car one of the dogs came over to us and started yipping at my niece who was all of 3 at the time. She then ran to get away from the dog and it chased her and she fell and it attacked her, I was right behind them and pulled the dog off of her and took it back to the owner and said "LEASH!" Then my sister picked up her daughter and took her to the car the dog hadn't bit her but had torn her shirt a bit. We called the city and made a complaint, gave them the couples license plate number. We never saw them again.

Yeah, by no means am I an animal expert, but without even hearing the whole story and being a dog owner myself, I knew where this was going. There are plenty of people out there who can walk their dogs RIGHT next to a passerby with no issue whatsoever, and they know exactly who they are. I, personally, have been in a position where I had a dog who wasn't well-behaved in certain circumstances, such as around children, and you can bet that any time a child was coming my way, I made sure the dog and the child would not be able to interact. This woman going out of her way to try to prevent the dog and the child from interacting is a dead giveaway that she knew this sort of thing had the possibility of occurring. Not careful enough, whatever happened.
