I didn't watch the whole video but assuming she doesn't spend enough time with her dog nor has really buckled down to try to train. It seems like her dog doesn't see her as the alpha or leader, and that's the big mistake with a Dobe. Mom and dad both topped out at 120-130 pounds. Anything much more than that would have thrown them out of German breed standards. Most American breeders think bigger is better with Rotts but not so (in my humble opinion) - rapid over growth can cause all sorts of issues & definitely shortens life span. I hate to be the one to say this...BUT, the training that this dog has WASN'T done with this lady. Yes, he knows the commands, but I think she paid for someone to train him, and the only reason he follows HER commands is because she gave treats when he did them. One of the FIRST things she said (when they were going in the house) is "Do you have treats!?!" This dog was raised getting rewarded for doing "tricks," not WORK. She was treating him like some trick pony. And, when he got overwhelmed, excited, or bored, he became ill-mannered, which in HER mind was "aggressive." She plainly said "He will just snap!" This is NOT the breed for her. I could tell even Dog Daddy was getting frustrated with how ignorant she was acting. (Not calling her names, just stating how she made herself SEEM!) I just felt, watching her during the video, she wanted someone ELSE to do the work. She just really didn't seem serious about correcting her prior "training mistakes."

@alycat91862 жыл бұрын
I’m pretty sure she said he had been trained before. I believe she stated that in the beginning when they were in the kitchen or maybe the patio. The problem she was having was even though he learned commands, she wasn’t exercising him enough or being firm with him and always very playful with him to where he would get out of control and she couldn’t handle it bc he’s so big now. Those weren’t issues when he was a small puppy, but at 88 lbs of solid muscle that’s a different story. And now she’s scared of him bc of the bites she received and instead of recognizing his jumps are playful her prior trauma of the bites makes her think he’s being aggressive. You can tell he’s a sweet dog, but he needs boundaries for sure. And like DD said in the video he thinks she’s his litter mate and not his alpha. So he was probably play biting. You know how sometimes dogs pause and stare at you right before they do the pounce to play? So if they are not corrected when biting as puppies they don’t understand they are really hurting you.

I really appreciate the patience and calmness and politeness yet no bullshit approach towards this woman. It is beyond me why an submissive anxious women with zero dog experiences needs to get a Doberman puppy. She chose the dog for many reasons but not the right ones. I highly doubt she ever read about the breeds character and needs first. They look beautiful and I bet she chose him because of that. Hence I don't know her motivation for getting a Doberman as a first dog. She herself acts like a toddler who's annoyed with the fact that this dog needs a lot of exercise and training. I appreciate the dog trainer explaining her everything, like not let the collar on except for training, not being tense or anxious but firm, telling her how to give commands in a relaxed but firm manner etc. She really looks tired when she realizes that HER whole attitude towards the dog needs to change. Well done, hope she sticks to the training. ❤ I myself got me a Rhodesian Ridgeback puppy mix and the breeders asked me what kind of dog experience I had. I said I was raised with German Shepherds but my father trained them and at age ten my parents gave me a hunting dog (English Setter) and helped me to raise him and put me into dog shool with him. Then the breeders ask me if I am ready to go for puppy shool again and I said, yes of course. That's why I trusted the breeders. Many breeders don't ask for dog experience but look at the money. RR is a complex dog and needs a lot of physical and mental training because she will grow into a force of nature with a lot of muscles and force and strength. Hence I git myself time for three months to be around my puppy like a mom for maternity leave. It's good for this woman that she didn't gave up on the dog but was looking for help. Still, something tells me she should not own this dog. Let's hope she can learn how to change her attitude. Thank God for her that dog is just waiting for commands and exercises and a pack leader ❤

This video gives us a lot of insight into what you encounter, and what your clients are sometimes overwhelmed with. How stressed out they are. It shows how patient & considerate yet persistent you are with the owners, some of whom are at a loss to know what to do or where to start with their dog. Her dog is a great example of what happens when the dog is “in charge” of life. The owner seems to be so overwrought, anxious & distracted with her situation that she just cannot absorb what you are advising, telling her at times. You almost have to take baby steps, and help her to appreciate each accomplishment along the way, so that she can then see that it is possible for her to take the next step in training, and her dog is responding. And you can see her growth.

He acts like a hyper child, he is a sweet dog he just needs to get out and run for like 30 minutes to an hour XD and have a firm hand and some training for manners in the house.

Exactly my thoughts!

To be honest, I don't think that 30 minutes or an hour of running will do. I think the dog needs more than that! He's young and full of energy. Several walks a day, a place were you can let him run free and on which he can play with you and other dogs and also an activity that stimulates his intelligence like obediance training or agility. . That's what dogs need. Especially breeds like this. What do people nowadays want? A good looking cool dog that obeys and loves you and can be left alone at home for hours and hours on end . But putting time and effort in training and actually meeting the dog's bare needs for physical/mental stimulation?! No thanks!! People, please get stuffed animals instead, smh.

Make it 2 hours of medium to intense exercise at least. Trust me.

@@lenaniemeyer4450 I would ride him on a bike or put him on a treadmill for total 2 to 3 hourse a day. After a month you can decrease. They get calmer over time and need less exercise when they get inti a habit of exercising.

The poor dog. He's looking for direction from his owner who is clueless. He needs a long run before any training takes place. He is desperate for some fun. . The owner needs to dress appropriately to exercise the dog, i. e., flat comfortable shoes at least. My heart aches for the dog. So misunderstood. I hope she can progress with your training as she appears to love the dog.

PAT, EXACTLY-- what the Hell is she wearing? An underwear looking mini skirt, bare legs, and 4 inch heals. Then she wonders how she gets scratched and bruised by a big puppy with claws. It's sad because it's obvious the poor pup loves her but isn't getting anything back.

You can tell she is so overwhelmed and frustrated he did so well with her and the dog! He’s so patient and understanding! It’s so clear the dog is just full of energy and wants to play and has been just getting over on her bc he can and will bc hes a puppy! Just like he said the dog sees her as a litter mate not an owner! She was hoping he would come and it would be fixed immediately you can tell by her body language at the end. She just has a lot to learn … I hope she learns! He’s a good dog :)

If I were younger, i would absolutely love to have this dog. What disurbs me, was the look on her face at the idea of having to even walk him, to expell some of his energy...sad. Such a great dog. I sincerely hope that she started doing right by her dog, or rehomed him. He's literally begging for structure and leadership, and needs a job.

hahaha when you know the "aggressive" dog for only a couple of minutes and he listens to commands like a champ at 7:28! :D gotta love the dobermans, this one is such a beauty..

Sadly what I’m observing is that this owner is afraid of the dog…. She is so inexperienced with the doberman breed.. Dobermans are a lot of dog. You did a wonderful job reinforcing that his behavior is not aggression. This doberman needs to run free and play on many acres of land to release his energy, like my doberman has! My almost 3 yr old dobie would love his company and energy. I hope she comes to learn the breed and can coexist with him.

He’s absolutely wonderful . He loves her sooo much and he knows she is the leader of the pack but she’s just not firm. I’m so glad you are helping her you could bet we’ll have saved their relationship. Once she learns to read him and gets truly comfortable playing rough sometimes to allow his natural personality to flourish, and easily separates the behavior of a mature dog. She’s going to have the best friend and loyal companion she’s always wanted. Good news he’s almost over the puppy stage and he’s going to smoothly sail into adulthood. I’m so excited for them . He’s a spectacular good boy . Thank you more than I could ever express. Please tell her how happy I am for them both.

Man you are doing a really great to help people understand how natural is the relationship between dogs and human. I have a friend who have locked his dog for years in the house. They say that they take him out for walks but I don't think that's the case because when I first took him out on leash for a walk he didn't know what to do. He was so excited and started shaking. The lady I see here is much more loving yet confused with his. Never the less I'll share this to my friend and hope he'll learn something out of it.
@sheilahammond42602 жыл бұрын
That's sad. Yes, there are people who keep their dogs locked up all day. I had a friend whose neighbour had a Spaniel. The dog was kept in a cage in the garden. Always there, every day. The owner hardly ever walked the dog. He just kept him for the times he left the city, which was during his vacation. Eventually my friend reported her concerns, and he was taken away and rehomed, hopefully to a better situation. The guy didn't really care that much. I think he was glad to surrender his responsibility. It depends a lot on how we are raised, and where, as to our attitudes towards our dogs. In countries where rabies is prevelant, they are not so adored.

I have owned multiple dobermans. U have to be very firm with them they are a dominant breed like a Rottweiler. My female dobe is 6 yrs old and I get compliments all the time on how well mannered she is. She knows the huge fenced in yard is where she plays and does the fastest dog alive zoomies and the house is where we have manners and dont act like a jackass.

having this problem with our rottweiler, my husband and i are the main caregivers. we walk him and play with him, he is 15 months old and has shown he thinks he is alpha. He is nor listening too often, stalking our poodle (which i have to keep separated) and yesterday he out of the blue bit me. I had a napkin in my hand that he wanted, i told him no and he just leaped and bit my hand. then he growled at my husband in another occasion because he didnt want the leash, then another time growled at me for not reason. I was just standing in the yard and he came at me, my husband grabbed him by the collar. We know he is a great dog but we are not great trainers for him. sadly we are finding him someone that can give him what he needs. Never again will i take another dog, you raise them and fall in love.. it breaks my heart. I even told my husband im not crying so much because of the pain but because i never expected him to do this.
@Smuvbee742 жыл бұрын
I agree. Outside you can be a fool. Inside you better have some manners. If you start them young they will learn. You have to be patient. I have a 4 month Rottweiler and she is learning to chill in the house. Takes a lot of work and time. Dogs love to be with you all the time so spend time with them and teach them what you want them to do. They are like kids they want someone to lead them.
@captgraybush28902 жыл бұрын
@@ivonnecastro3569 The best thing you can do is assert dominance with the dog. When he is not listening or otherwise acting like he's the boss. Grab him by his scruff force him to the ground on his back belly up and straddle him while keeping his head pinned. He will fight like hell for a few mins. But will give up and accept defeat. On their back belly up is a submissive position for a dog. And in the wild, The dog on bottom belly up is the loser in dominance. Also not allowing your pets in your bed or on your furniture is showing dominace. No more table scraps! The pack Alpha always eats first and eats the best food. The pack alpha ALWAYS has the best sleeping spot. So by follwing my instructions. You will be showing the dog you are the alpha of the pack. And if he bites you, Bite him right back. Grab a handful of floppy ear and bite it.
