Thank you so much for uploading this video. My long haired chihuahua has put her neck out and I just wanted to be able to alleviate her pain. I'll definitely be using these techniques to try and help her. Thank your little dog for her help too. All the best to you in these horrible days we've all been going through with this virus. @@garycrowley1 I was scrolling through the comments on the video and someone mentioned that you helped with their sacroiliac pain and that you helped. So I went to your KZbin page and had a look. I didn't realise that you actually provided massages and stretches to help pain. When I was a 19 I'm now 45, I was in a really bad car accident I suffered broken pelvis, sacroiliac, right pubic Rami, crushed legs and feet, sciatic nerve damage which affects my legs and feet, brain damage which affects my memory and balance. I was in hospital for about 7months. I am in constant pain. When I saw your page I immediately subscribed as I will definitely be trying out some of your stretches and massages to try and alleviate some of my pain. thank you for putting these up. I'll definitely let you know how I'm going with them, in time.

I learned how to do this living on a friend's couch. You'd know they enjoy it when they close their eyes and want to put their head down and start dozing off. I put my left hand under the muzzle to let her take the weight of her head off her neck and then I massage the muscles down the spine. For someone who's always feared dogs, I never thought I'd know what a Rottweiler's breath smells like and me not be bleeding. 😂

If a dog is having neck pain can it cause them to yelp? And cause them to not want to turn their head?

Yes. Just do your best to work on the area, above and below the area as well. If it hurts your dog do something else a bit higher or lower. It should actually feel good to your dog when you work on them. Hope that helps. Best, Gary C.

@garycrowley13 жыл бұрын
I wish could help, but if my techniques aren't working, it sounds like a ruptured disc in your dogs neck, which I can't fix. The fact that the legs aren't working is worrisome. I hope the meds can bring down the inflammation it's it not as bad as I suspect. Sorry, I wish I had a better answer for you. All the very best wishes for you and your dog. Gary C.

OMG. This video really helped me.. Thank you so much Gary. I have a 10 year old miniature poodle and when I was touching her she was yelping so loud. I got so afraid and started to find out where exactly it was hurting. Maybe her mouth, eyes, legs, but I couldn't find it ! After couple days, I noticed my dog had difficulty to go up and down to bed, then examined, I realized it was her neck. She is definitely capable of moving her neck right, left, up and down, but when she puts a pressure on her neck and look up, or i press her head down, she was yelping a lot. My family and I gave a neck massage shortly whenever we can, and now she seems to be better than a week ago. But, still yelping a little and hesitating to go up and down. Do you think she'll be fine soon or I should take her to the Vet ? I'm hesitant to go to the Vet since it's extremely pricey, here in Canada. Thank you so much again !
@garycrowley17 жыл бұрын
I'm glad my videos are helping. I'd keep working on her and as long as she's improving I think you are fine to avoid the vet. If it stops improving and she's still in a lot of pain then maybe a trip to the vet would be in order. Hope that helps. Best, Gary C.

Sir .I hurt my dog by grabbing his neck 😢. Now his neck is swollen up.what should I do .? Please let me know .what medication is needed
@garycrowley1 Жыл бұрын
If it's swollen from you grabbing your dog, that's hopefully just the healing phase from a trauma type injury like spraining your ankle where it swells after you sprain it. If you can get an ice pack on it that would be great, but you may just have to let it heal on it's own until the swelling goes down. Best, Gary C.

This is pissing me off because it seems to be helping everybody else & I can't help my chihuahua. I don't know what to do, her neck skin is loose, her hair is so long. Her neck is hurt but the only part I can work on ("press, pull, release") is the back of her neck. Anywhere else I can't because I can't make sense of how to not hurt her or which direction to rub or where the individual muscles are because her hair's so long and her skin pulls. Do you hold the skin? It doesnt look like you do. Like, the angles in these videos are terrible & the more frustrated I get the more I can't figure it out. You go TOO fast. Press, pull, release?!?? What? Where & how for her shoulders? You say the dog can be in any position, but you don't show an actual position & which way to rub. And it's so fast by the time I start figuring it out what you're saying is over & I rewind & rewind but it's just too fast I'm literally crying right now after watching these videos I'm so frustrated.
@garycrowley17 жыл бұрын
Hi Ladie Jane, Here is a video of just the Press Pull Release technique. www.do-it-yourself-joint-pain-relief.com/joint-pain-relief-techniques.html#Pull You might think of your dogs skin like it's a cloth that is covering some clay you want to sculpt. You press into the cloth/skin until you are pressing on the tight tissue underneath. You don't slide on the skin, you press down enough that you're pulling on the tissue under the skin. You can work on the muscles on the back of the neck, sides of the neck, front of the neck. Just do easy enough that your dog likes it. Find all the tight tissue you can and release it. You can do your dogs entire spine down the back if you want. It will only help and should feel good for your dog. Hope this helps. Best, Gary C.

She strains her neck a lot (not a lot, but more than a normal dog) because she stuffs herself under the low couch when it thunderstorms. We blocked it off now, but it's been storming off & on for a few days now so she hurt herself going in & out. We've blocked off the opening now so it doesn't get worse. We take her to the doctor every time, & they give us tramadol & a steroid but I can't afford the vet until Friday & that is why I looked up the video. I also think it did help her last night, she was able to eat & wagged her tail. I also want you to know I am not a mean person & I hope I didn't come across as unappreciative because this is a really kind & thoughtful series of videos for you to do. I just can't stand not being able to help her, you know..
@ladiejane86847 жыл бұрын
God bless you. Two things: Hypothetically, could I do it for hours if my dog doesn't stop me? And if she doesn't stop me, should I stop if she starts to twitch/shake? Or just if she gets up & leaves? She usually doesn't sit BY me, but since last night she stayed for a long time while I did the back of her neck & tried other places, but she yelped twice & I wasn't feeling confident about it like I was her back so I stopped. I know she likes it though. Thank you for your fast response, the cloth tip & the video were helpful. I'll let you know. 💘

@garycrowley17 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can do it for a long time if they like it. Sometimes they yelp if you get the right spot but maybe go a touch too hard. So just work on that spot with just a bit less pressure. If she sits near you, generally that means they like it. Not sure about the twitching. Probably not bad, but I might give her a little break if she starts twitching. Best, Gary C.
