Awwww Junior! I LOVE the woman who basically perfomed a miracle with his health and for the love and confidence she has given him. I'm so happy for both of them; they made my day! Junior’s story is a double edged sword. On one side is everything that makes me hate humans for their hatefulness and needless cruelty and on the other, that which makes me love dogs, in part for their capacity to love, forgive and be so resilient. To avoid having another TIA, I choose to focus on the second side of the sword

One of my lifetime dogs was a Rhodie-chow we found at a shelter. He had been put in a puppy collar and tied to a tree as a pup, and never released. his esophagus was damaged due to the pupy collar growing into his skin and he was afraid of hands, only having been exposed to his abusers and the shelter staff. It took less than 6 months to get him up to small kibble (with liquids) and used to being loved and petted. He was a great dog and I hate that the early abuse probably shortened his life, but I'm very glad he was a part of my life. I have seen some of the most horrible humans do to dogs, and I have seen some miracles. (I worked with breed rescues and in the shleter system for a period of time.) I choose the side of angels. I can be an optimist and hope for the best. I hope you (and everyone else) can too. There is good in the world; sometimes we have to uncover it.
