Favorite interaction with another dog handler having to do with not letting dogs visit each other. Was training my dog on a bridge (working on focus with distractions and maintaining a sit stay while i watched the river, also bridge desensitization because my dog was scared of it at first). Gentleman with an offleash dog asked if mine was friendly, i said yes but I'd really prefer to keep distance. Guy called his dog to a heel position and stayed on the opposite side.

Ive found most people have no business owning dogs, especially the breeds they choose. A dog is a lifetime commitment, needs training and attention. Dont get one if you cant or wont devote the time and energy.
@amberhoward78072 ай бұрын
I did as much research as I could on my breed and even that wasn't good enough. She's still very reactive as this video showed me she seems to be a very prey driven type of dog so I am still working with her everyday! She still chases the cats and she barks at every and all things, but she also is very sweet and after barking and being excited she actually plays really well with other dogs and she also is very sweet once she meets a new person, but it is a slow process for her to feel comfortable. She has to kind of go slow and the person has to be patient and brave because she will bark and lunge (I have tried training her to not do this behavior since day one when we got her...) but once the goes and licks the hand of the person they are now best friends. But she is also a pit/rot mix so I am always on high alert of any possible hang ups... I do think if I wasn't this committed that I should not be owning this type of dog... But I am learning new things all the time and putting everything I know into place. I just wish we had better options of dog facilities like training places, pools, prey driven type training facilities in my area... The one's that are here are mostly just a correction style facility and it's one where they go for a week and I'm not involved... I personally do not want that.

I was seated outdoors at a coffee shop with a dog I'd adopted four days prior. The dog was still very nervous at the time and a little dog-reactive, depending on the other dog and its body language. Some lady whose dog mine had barked at earlier thought it would be cool for her to come over and introduce them! Her dog was pulling and pulling at the end of her leash trying to sniff mine. "Please don't let them meet!" I said. "She's still in training!" And the lady was all dejected, "Well, sorry, Dolly, I guess they don't want to be friends." Come to find out it wasn't even her dog, she was walking a neighbor's dog! Stop assuming all dogs are friendly!

@@crowleyvoltaire5864 It’s really sad when one realizes that most of our own govt, Drs, and vets gaslight us and advise us to consume products designed to make us sick and keep us sick so they can then turn around and sell us the big pharma solutions to “fix” the issues. That being said, the huge positive is when ppl wake up, see the manipulation for what it is, and start making better decisions and those better decisions lead to such dramatic changes that culminate into being healthier w/o the interference from those who supposedly “care” about our well being. It’s a rare thing to come across a healthcare professional or vet that truly cares about their pts and wants to cure them rather than chase the money of keeping pts endlessly sick. When our vet introduced us to raw, and I started researching the benefits, it filled me with horror to realize the junk I’d offered my dogs bc I’d believed the high dollar, high quality, don’t worry we put only good things in our kibble gaslighting. Once I switched to raw and saw the results, the positive change in all of my dogs is 100% undeniable. Everything we put in our bodies, our children’s bodies, and our pets bodies has the ability to hurt or to heal, and realizing that food/medicinal/ dermatological etc products have been used as a vehicle to keep us all sick puts the power back in our hands bc now we can break the cycle. I’m so glad to see others realizing what’s been done to us all.

Random people feeling entitled to introduce their dog to mine is a BIG ISSUE. I don't know where these people's minds are, but it's insane! My Akita is pretty well behaved. I've worked hard to make him so, and he has responded nicely. I get no pull on him on a walk, even when another dog we pass is at the end of their leash pulling, barking, and growling as we pass. My boy Kinjo would shrug his shoulders if he could. Doesn't care. However, he is a 116 lbs unaltered male Akita. He is particular about the energy another dog brings as it approaches him, and he has a distance he will tolerate. Most people have no idea what energy their dog is bringing, and if they bring any anxiety, rudeness, assertiveness, etc towards my Akita, he is going to object. An Akita objecting is not a pretty sight. Still, I've had it happen numerous times where someone sees my beautiful big dog and then b-lines straight toward us to "meet". I say, "No, he's not dog friendly!" even if that's not necessarily true. I say it for their protection and mine, just in case. Once I had a lady respond angrily with, "Well mine is." Uh, cool lady. Now go away. The sheer entitlement of some people...

I don't know what wild hair is up some people in my area, but off leash/long lead/uncontrolled dogs are everywhere, and my GSD has gotten into so many fights - started by the other dog, though I've come to believe he has the dog equivalent of a punchable face - that I eventually had to look into ways to deter other people's dogs. The sheer number of people who just hope or assume it'll be fine, or on some occasions, aren't even in eyeshot of their dogs boggles my mind.

I was at hunting camp one season with my pit/sheppard/lab cross. A couple came in a day or two later with their two dogs. I was walking back from the head when the lady asked if she could bring her dogs by to meet mine. I told her not to do so, that it wouldn't end well. About a half hour later as I'm getting ready for the evening hunt, there she is walking towards my camp with "treats" for my dog, her dogs in tow (no leashes) I told her not to bring her dogs over, that my dog doesn't get treats randomly and he isn't dog friendly. She insisted that her dogs are fine with other dogs and continued to walk my way anyway. I finally got pissed enough to raise my voice. "Look lady! I told you don't bring your f***ing dogs over here! I don't care how friendly they are, my dog is not and he will kill both of them! Just stay away!" Then she got a little closer and actually saw my dog I guess. He was a protector and he was very dominant. He stood up, chest puffed our and he gave the pit bull stare that looks through your soul... needless to say it took her by surprise I guess because she stopped and muttered something like holy shit before turning around. Oh, he was also off leash but he was very very well behaved, that is until you showed up uninvited. He never attacked another dog, and only went after a jackass that thought he was being funny by bluff charging my dog over n over (at a feed store) then proceeded to tell me how aggressive he is. I worked there and my dog was raised on the lot from the first day I got him. I looked at the guy and said "it would serve you right if he bit you. Acting like an asshole towards him like that." Then I proceeded to call him an idiot as I walked away and went back to work. My boss ended up asking me about it so obviously this guy was trying to start shit, showed the camera footage. Next time he was in she let him know exactly what an idiot he was.

I think I was an adult when I saw my first service dog, although we had heard about them. As a kid we tried to take my dog to PetSmart and he didn't enjoy it very much. Lost it's novelty ASAP. How much I've learned in training since then! Now my two dogs go with me to the pet stores no problem - in fact, one is quite the ham when we go.

Any dog starting to play too rough she will playfully but seriously also pin to the ground until they realize they need to calm down. She is like a ninja. My favorite move is her distracting them with the mouth and then sweeping their legs. She will put her weight into if needed on larger dogs. This includes my dog who can get a bit wild. She is also amazing at taking street dogs and teaching them how to “dog” with a family.

I have 5 dogs of my own. One is boerboel one is a Staffordshire bull terrier. Both my neighbours have pitbulls. I work at a dog kennel. The "you can bite or you can breathe" chokehold has ended SO many fights, quickly and efficiently. Just be sure that you're choking the aggressor, otherwise you'll just make the victim more vulnerable. It can get hard to tell when teeth and fur are flying. I had to use this when an off leash pittie latched onto my boerboel when he was just 8 months old. My boy was screaming and trying to hide behind me. The pittie's owner was screaming for his dog to stop. I had the pittie in the air for a long time before he FINALLY disengaged. I was surrounded by screaming and crying people who had done nothing to help. My guy was okay. His cheek was bloody. Thank heavens for those jowls! The loose skin stopped the pittie from getting a deeper grip on his face

What will happen to these fogs if something happens to the owner, euthanasia? I socialize my dog as much as possible, because aside from him experiencing the world full of nice people and dogs instead of suspicion and fear, I want to ensure he can be more easily rehomed if something happens to me. She's friendly with humans (especially with children) but God forbid we come across a dog because then she wants to fight (even though she's gone through training from an early age). Problem is that even when we've given her an order, there are owners that don't have muzzles or leashes and let their dogs roam around freely... I've lost count how many times we've said "Don't get your too close, she's not friendly and she will 100% attack" and have been ignored because their dog is friendly with other dogs. If your dog can kill you, even theoretically, you shouldn't have that dog. You should never get a dog where the fight isn't guaranteed to be 100% in your favor. I can handle any breed of dog, even police trained. And before anybody makes any wild claims, police training doesn't make these animals invincible, it makes them controllable, nothing more. A dog is only as deadly as it is physically capable of being. People lose against police dogs because it happens in conjunction with regular police action and people tend to avoid harming dogs as a societal habit. If a dog attacks me and won't stop, it dies, period. Regardless of size, breed, or function. The same goes for humans, really.

I recently lost my first own dog. We have had some bad interactions with other dogs. I trained him up to be social and not to be afraid of other dog or other animals. Sadly that changed in the second he got attacked by another dog. I have never been faced with a situation like this. I know that dog that attacked mine, it not friendly at all so we always avoided them on walks. But this time he was in a lose flexi line and went straight for my dog. My dog did not like him so he started to walk away from him and then all hell broke loose. He went straight for the throat of my dog. He was holding on to him when i tried to separate them and i tried slowly picking my dog up and he was holding on to my dog for dear life. I had to put my dog one the ground again and this idiot of an owner stood there and watchted the whole thing. He did absolutely nothing to help. Suddenly the other dog lost grip on mine and i scooped my dog up the second it happen. I was so upset and cried the whole walk home. I never been faced with something like that and from that moment my dog changed. Luckly my dog has double coated fur and escaped any serious injury. But he was red from all the pulling on the fur. My dog started to be fearful of every dog he encountered, he barkes and was whining every time there was another dog around. I meet the guy with the other dog randomly without my dog on the way to the store. I stopped him and told him to never ever think for 1 second that your dog is safe around others and stay the h*** away from me and my dog, and if i ever see this happen again im reporting it. He never answered and i just walk away. Never spoken to him since The fact that he just watched me struggle and did nothing or say anything at all to me. All my respect for him died that day

I'm pretty sure the Malinois was trained to bite the pants, they wouldn't allow it to bite someone under these circumstances when they could have controlled the guy without the dog, nor were they under any danger. Policing in Europe is not like in the US - for example, there is rarely an occasion to unholster a gun and it's a massive deal when shots are fired, so rare is the occurence.

New neighbor moved in behind me, we share back fence. She has 2 Australian Shepherds, and I have a German Shepherd, Pitt and a McNab. I told her my McNab is not stranger friendly to humans and other dogs. She is trained to guard our house and property. So, my dogs are out, she lets hers out and yep straight the fence my dog goes, puts her head under the fence and bites the other dog who also tried to put head under fence. I have blocked that off now since I see the problem. However, she says, "Oh just leave them out in the backyard and eventually they will get to know each other, through the fence? and become friends. I told her, "NO I won't be doing that, do not try to pet her, don't try to get your dogs close to her, she will attack if she feels threatened." To us she is sweet, loyal and friendly but to strangers, not so much. The McNab is trained but for some reason with that lady and her dogs, she will not listen to me at all. She has a stand down command she ignores when it comes to her. Hopefully I can correct that soon. Well finally the lady behind me gets mad when my dogs come out, grabs hers goes inside slamming the door. Like I am suppose to wait for her to be done so my dogs can potty. Ughh i wish I lived out in the middle of nowhere sometimes. Anyways, love your videos! And yes Chihuahuas are demon dogs from hell, my oldest son had one that lived to 17 - evil thing.

This was incredibly better then I expect... Usually react videos are funny but add little to no information, this was not the case. From the improvised strangler leach to the advise about petting stray dogs, I've learned stuff that can be helpful even if I don't have or intend to have a dog.

We had the Chihuahua that used to try and bully the big dog and take his bones, the big mongrel treated it as a joke and used to pick up the bone and dangle it in front of the little guy then jog around the house carrying his bone until the chihuahua tired out. His favourite game was pretending to attack a family member so the chihuahua could defend them it was hilarious. I think that if we had video taped their shenanigans a lot of folks would have freaked out but the little dog was in no danger of harm from the big dog who was always patient and gentle with the small psycho.

I have a livestock dog/pet. She only has to do work during certain times of the day so she gets to be an indoor pet the rest of the time. She knows not to chase small animals, because usually she has to protect small animals under her care. She is trained to have a good recall just in case, and a freeze in place/stop command. I know it is her natural instinct to hunt animals and so I’ve mostly trained it out of her, but even for a dog who spends her life protecting small animals, I still know that she wants to hunt things. It is the natural order. We let her drain these urges though using a simple game of fetch with a non-squeaky toy

I always carry mace anytime I leave or am walking my dog, for both dogs and people. IDK why people walk their dogs without mace, if you've ever had to break up a dog fight it's almost impossible to control your dog, and another dog who may or may not be on a leash or have a collor on, the best thing is to just have mace just in case.

the reaction of the street dog was more than measured, it simply made the girl understand that he did not like being touched in that way or in that place, she was also a stranger to the dog,the one who made the mistake of not respecting the boundaries and became too familiar was the girl

That Dutch video.. it's scary to see how police doesn't have control over their dogs.. you can hear the cop say 'relase' a couple of times in Dutch.. and the dog not listening.. that is quite worriesome!!

Garrett - can you do a video breaking down the dog shooting in Iowa by the cop - they called it justified but - tail mid position and wagging wide (not high) ears forward and down (not up and not slicked back). Most of all the dog stopped and play bowed to the officer before he shot it - and the cop even lured that dog with a closed hand out from him like he was offering a treat. I think it was a bad shoot but interested to hear what you think.

I have a question. I had a German shepherd who never met a stranger. He love everyone he met. The easiest shepherd to train that I ever had. Now this dog had never shown any aggressive behavior in 8 yrs that is until 3 guys were installing a chained link fence in the front yard and my GF walked up and started talking to them. He almost knocked the front living room window out. When she heard and saw what was happening she ran into the house and he immediately stopped. She tried to go back outside and he would yell let her open the door. Now did the dog know something we didn’t or did his long subdued behavior come to the forefront? I unfortunately had to have him put down at nine because he came down with the dog version of ALS. Any recommendations on a large boned shepherd breeder?

Some street dogs have interaction with humans. Usually it´s not the positive kind. Even if my dog is friendly it does not mean that your dog is not a nuissance to mine. It might end unpleasantly if you insist on yours to come in too close. A buddy got in trouble because his dog chased after the neighbor´s cat. The cat almost made it under a cover. For some reason the cat decided to engage in a fight instead of slipping under the cover. Cat failed to survive.

I dont have the money to buy your courses but I have been watching and applying everything I can get from your videos. I have a pitbull that looks just like John wicks dog. I am proud to say he is picking up training very well today he started to chase a cat that was on the other side of the fence and I was able to recall him without the use of the E collar. I just started working with him a few weeks ago he was very sick when we got him from the shelter. Anyways I wanted to say thanks hopefully you see this.

My Dalmatian had what I called window syndrome , behind glass she was serious . No glass she was a cupcake. Once I was sitting in my car in a parking lot with my windows down. My Dalmatian was in back seat. Now Dalmatians are coach dogs meaning they were bred to run with coach horses and then guard at night in stable. They also protected against highway robbers in coach days. So there I am in my " coach " , aka car , when a little boy half leaped through the open window . He wanted to pet my Dalmatian. I was startled, a boy hanging in my window, and by the grace of God I grabbed my dog's muzzle as it went passed my ear. Honestly, she would have bitten him in the face to protect me. I yelled at the mom ,as I pushed boy out of my car with free hand. She said " it's okay, we have a dog at home ". Years later I am still stunned at her response. So close to disaster
