I love this! I ALWAYS encourage my students to use their dogs' food as training treats in their no/low distraction training places.

I train my 8-week blue heeler puppy with some of the morning food before she gets the rest of the morning food. It only takes a few minutes here and there to train a puppy because their concentration span is short, and she loves it😊

Great tips!! I made the mistake using "high value" treats maybe in excess, and she got loose stools. Lesson learned!

one thing you can use is foods w/ probiotics or use fortiflora probiotics! my girl has a bit of an iffy stomach so i use native pet daily and fortiflora when she has an episode and it works for us :] I use a lot of high value treats, two things i do to reduce stomach issues/weight gain is 1. if you're using high value treats is to use them outdoors where the difficulty level is harder (or indoors if you're asking something very hard). this way higher value treats are used as needed and can be removed from their meal portion! i personally feed my girl twice a day for meals and she might have a snack or treats between them depending on the day because it works better for her, but we use buttons at home and she tells me if she'd like to eat sooner than usual or feels more hungry that day. 2. if you don't already incorporate two days of the week where your dog has an 'off' day where you're only managing but not training, start adding those! it gives them a break and then you have at least two days where you're not using the big treats but maybe smaller, low calorie ones if weight or stomach issues are a worry.

I’ve got a question about when you’re training your dog. Do you still like get to like snuggle with it when it’s sleepy and stuff or do you put it in the crate and let it sleep in the crate
@Felix-jo7nj4 күн бұрын
highly dependent! if you're the type to let the dog on your bed and stuff sure! but if you don't let them sleep on their bed or crate. if it's a puppy/dog under 2 and they're having a daytime nap i make an effort to at least try to use it as a chance to practice calm crate time and that the crate is a place to relax. (large/medium breeds are slower to grow mentally so sometimes also need help remembering they need rest if they're energetic dogs) but by no means does training your dog mean you cannot give them affection or let them just be

Not if you regularly fast your dog, like all mammals should be fasted.

You're gonna need to give some context or rephrasing here, because that's not really something I've heard before

It has been shown that fasting dogs is not good for many dogs. Mine would end up in the Vets office. Dogs are not wolves anymore.

stop using diet culture on animals. no animal needs fasting unless a medical processional tells you or it's a species prone to constipation (like fish) :/
