Both are $35-$40 where I live. Someone else said they'd prefer the two value Compass Box bottles, and I'd agree. But both of these bottles are still good values.

I know these are both Blended Malts, but for roughly the same price I'd opt for Compass Box Artist or Glasgow Blended Whiskies, or even better, Loch Lomond 12 is about the same price and is an unmatched value ✌️

P. S. It may be different elsewhere around the country, but everywhere I shop Monkey Shoulder is now pushing $35.

You did not mention that Monkey is made of 3 Scotches blended (Balvenie, Glenfiddich and Kininvie). Some claim that it tastes better than the much more expensive Balvenie and Glenfiddich.

Not anymore... Kininvie is the only one of those 3 that is still used in newer batches. But it's still a blended malt... they are just using other distilleries now

It would have been interesting to see Sheep Dip in this lineup too - for me it's more of a Highland style than a Speyside which I prefer but all these are decent sippers

In Central Texas, Copper Dog is around $26 and Monkey Shoulder is around $30. I usually have Monkey Shoulder on my bar.

MS is always $32-40 where I'm at. I wouldn't call that a true budget price, but everyone has a different budget.

I would love to try Monkey Shoulder at 43% instead of 40%, but in Europe that's impossible. Still a very nice whisky for the price.

@@ScotchTestDummies yeah GWDH, 40% isn't a lot of fun, however--- U should try Bowmore small batch at 80 prf., it's a decent dram and a tasty Islay full of smoke and just the rite amt. of peat! Test---- it!!!

Great video. Monkey shoulder is a great whiskey for the price. I have a bottle of copper dog but waiting until Spring to crack it open. I agree with the other comments regarding the compass Box scotches. These are all my splendid whiskeys. Just goes to show you that you do not have to spend a lot of money for a tasty bottle.

William Grant & Sons should drop the bottle-bling & caramel from Monkey Shoulder and bump it up to 46% and/or tack on a few extra years of maturation. I'm just not a fan of Monkey Shoulder, there are just too many other "better" whiskies at about the same price IMO ✌️

Not to much of a fan of these two bottles. I do like Cutty Sark 12 year, and also Teachers for an affordable blended scotch. Still looking for the poor man's Highland Park though. Cheers dummies.

The Naked Malt (f.k.a. The Naked Grouse) might be a more budget-friendly alternative to Highland Park. Also, if we're talking about cheap Blended Scotches (Copper Dog and Monkey Shoulder, and that Naked Malt are all Blended Malts), then I suggest Gordon Graham's Black Bottle; nothing even comes close to its quality for under $20 ✌️

@@ScotchTestDummies I want to like Teachers too, but the last bottle I bought (albeit 3-4 years ago) was hot, very grain-heavy, and unpleasant; and this is coming from someone who can appreciate a decent bottom-shelf blend.

@@MrChristopherMolloy Thanks, I do like the Black Bottle but it's hard to find in Michigan. It doesn't matter much to me if it's blended single malt's or just blended scotch. If I like it I like it. Not going to split hairs at under $35.
