You have not idea how dirty was our country before Milei. The former goverment used to send food to "Social Organizations", and they forced poor people to participate in marches in exchange for a portion of food. It was well know that former governor of Buenos Aires used to send people to destroy the sidewalks and reconstruct then with cheaper materials.

Hello from Argentina. To add some context he cut all that spending whilst doubling the amount (in dollars) of welfare. So for the us it doesn't need to be as harsh on the general population, also it should be paired with heavy deregulation to increase competition and generate more jobs (to compensate for state layoffs). Also you probably have more than enough to pay for anything else if you actually drained the swamp, also remember this the ones who will cry the most are the ones defending privileges not the regular citizen.

I agree with you: the Milei method is not for every country in terms of society. Milei won the election with the WARNING that the first year was going to be very rough. I mean, Milei himself told the people during the campaign that if he won the election, things were going to go worse at first. However, people voted for him knowing that fact! One of Milei’s sayings is “I rather hear an unpleasant truth than a comforting lie”.

As a argentine. That left inflation to come to America and now living in a van because of beautiful bureaucrats. American can handle what milei is doing. Like Holmes people in America look wealthier than the one's in Argentina. Where talking that left leaning politicians got chronically diabetics to eat sugar every day. It's going to hurt. But if you don't start it will end up worse and worse. In argentina did this for 50 years. A country where everything was for the poor. Taxes made you be hammered to the point it was almost impossible to be middle class. at the end we were all equals. Equally poor. There was people that would disability money. They would go with documents and X-rays of dogs spine. That's how corrupt are spending was. We're talking about people getting pension of people dead for years. So as i say. There's no other way then cutting the spending. But also removing taxes and bureaucracy. Milei is doing everything. VIVA LA LIBERTAD CARAJO! JAVITO QUERIDO EL PUEBLO ESTA CONTIGO!

Homelessness won't be such an issue because in Argentina the housing supply went up in the capital by 40 percent when housing restrictions were lifted and people can now have more flexible terms on their lease and because the value of their currency has gone up and loosening price controls bought supplies into stores and Poverty went from 52 percent to 48, so more people can now afford to buy things even after 1 year.

Well, in his presidential campaign Milei had already announced this adjustment and that the situation was going to "get worse, before it gets better" and that is what is happening; but I don't think this works in all countries equally, Argentina had the results it had because we came from decades of devastated economy.
@vecktorvis121917 күн бұрын
My friend, as an argentinian I can help you by clarifying a few things: when you say that there are people who are having a hard time there, we have had a hard time in Argentina for practically more than 30 years, with disastrous policies that led to a ridiculously high inflation (the highest in the world, by the way) of 211% year-on-year and horrendous public sector spending (40% of GDP) at end of 2023. What Milei did was not a strategy or a magic trick, it was the only thing that could be done and always saying in his speeches that it was going to be hard at the beginning (which it was) and only now, after a year, are we beginning to see small glimpses of economic recovery. Do not be afraid if President Trump is thinking of taking the same measures, it will be hard but sooner or later you will be able to see significant improvements; it is only a matter of Trump's voters continuing to support him . A warm hug from Argentina.

If Argentina, with negative treasury reserves, 40% poverty and 25% MONTHLY inflation was able to turn things around for good in less than one year with Milei's policies; then US has no excuse not to take the same path

The US are not that fucked up as Argentina was (and still is) before Milei. Obviously this method can work only in Argentina, BUT some of the things that Milei did can be implemented with a lower intensity depending each economy and each problem. The motto is DONT SPEND MORE MONEY THAN YOU HAVE!!!! And the things are going to go well

We have to start now and go 100%, there's no middle ground. Only the burocrats that suck and do nothing would sure not like it. Argentina did it in one year and from now on is all gain, their economy is not going to stop growing, working people income is growing, poverty is decreasing, regulations and taxes are getting cut and huge amounts of money are pouring into the country.

Why would there be more homeless people in the US with Argentina's method? or why would people struggle more? It doesn't make any sense. (for context: I'm an Argentinian with a degree in bookkeeping and taxation) The only people who suffered are those who were getting paychecks from the government for doing nothing. Argentina was (and still is) in a much more extreme situation that the US and none of the things that you said would happen in the US have happened in Argentina. Lowering government spending strengthens the liquidity of the country, lowers the need for monetary emission, which in turns lowers inflation and help valuate the currency allowing the dollar to have more purchasing power; and after a while, with superhabit you can lower taxes and even get rid of many of the taxes allowing people to have more money on their pocket which reactivates the economy.
@Eve_Of_Hearts20 күн бұрын
We have to change and to get out of our one party crazy spending system, ppl will suffer for a bit, but in the end, it will be for the best. Imo.

We have seen the bottom of the pit and there is no way but hell or climbing it back up. It will take a long time to fix this country, but we needed it to get fixed.

Exacto!

No, its not going to get worse as the ROOT cause of inflacion is overspending that has to be paid either with loans or printing of more moeny. Also inflation affects the poor the MOST that is why when inflation went down in Argentina so it did povertry! From 51% to 38

What is really needed is to cut unnecessary expenses. I think that funds should be redirected to public safety. In Argentina, a budget was established for security and stable medical assistance, cutting out superfluous expenses.

Helping other countries has nothing to do with inflation. Over-demand and/or under-supply causes inflation. Higher interest rates takes spendable dollars out of the economy, reducing demand. That will bring own inflation, and that's what the Fed has been doing. The other side of the coin in capitalism is higher prices brings in competition which will raise supply, and that will bring down inflation as well. Lowering demand can occur rapidly; Raising supply takes a while. Our government controls interest rates; The free market controls supply. Forget Argentina. And forget Trump; He's an imbecile.
