Best content on here. The WW1 planes are just more captivating, followed closely by WW2, etc. The "Scouts" (generally the term for the two seaters with rear gunners) were hugely dangerous and often attacked from underneath when possible.
@CakePrincessCelestia3 жыл бұрын
Scouts initially were light, fast and unarmed recon aircraft that at the beginning of the war have been armed with machine guns. The term stayed until the early 20s and basically describes a single seated fighter during WWI on hte British side. Then there was the Sopwith Scout, named Pup by the aircrew (just like the Fighting Falcon is called Viper), because it looked like a puppy of the 1 1/2 strutter, which often was called Scout, even though that was a 2 seater. The Bristol Scout also was a single seater. Sopwith 1 1/2 Strutter, Bristol Fighter and other two seaters actually were called "fighter" back then until that became the general term also for the scouts.

This is the reason I might lay out the cash for a high-end rig. DCS in jets is just too much of a learning curve for me, but this? You can just jump in and go;.no complex systems to master. It's the right mix of realism and entertainment IF you have some flight sim experience, imo.
@wth-pete35392 жыл бұрын
I was thinking the same, but decided to jump into DCS (I fly just WW2) and was quite suprised it really is not that difficult. The cockpits are fully clickable so you just need to bind same stuff as for any other sim (throttle, pitch, roll, ruder, looking, map...) and then you can just press butons in the cockpit and don'T have to bind everything as in IL2 for example... IT can take lot of time to trully master, but if you decide to just kinda jump in head on you can be flying within hours... but I would do it only if you think you might like it and keep playing continuously. For some quick action here and there without thinking more arcade stuff is of course way to go. Just wanted to say, that it's not that scarry of a beast as it looked to me at first...

Amazing video as always. Sturmovic is my favourite flight combat sim offering WWI content for my Cosmos. I just wish I was half the pilot you are. I agree, the experience of VR with the WWI aircraft is just amazing. My big beef with the WWI fights is the VERY low lethality of the guns. I can almost never get a kill without shooting the pilot. I think I've lit a guy's engine on fire maybe once or twice, and I've almost never taken off parts of the wings. So I don't know HOW you're taking them down so fast (unless they've changed the lethality in some update. I HAVE used my landing gear to bump guys out the air.

Here's a genuine WW1 pilot trick to use when attacking tailgunner planes: Attack from above. Dive down under the bomber at a distance so that you can close the distance while you pull up and spray him from below, then continue the climb in front of him and to the side so as not to get in the way of his forward firing guns.

Yeah when using this era of aircraft have extremely inaccurate guns. Plus they dont do near the damage that modern planes do due to the aircraft your shooting is basically just wood and heavy cloth instead of rigid materials. So the rounds simply travel through and through and only leave a tiny hole hardly affecting the planes stability. I read a book about The Red Baron years ago and he said,...."I wouldn't even try to fire until I could read his gauges." He also said he always aimed for the pilot due to the fact the motor and pilot are basically one big target. These make for the best dog fights though. That's a facts. Very pure.
