I'm guessing prop wash from a P-38, 47, F4U, etc. would turn them into match sticks. Plus less closure rate should = more time for target selection. I'll take a US classic, the P-47. The 8 .50 cal's would, it'd be flat out ugly! 😎 Rude & crude with a tude! The '47 could probably cross the T on a knife edge Camel, slice the wings off (one side but the pair!) & cruise into the sunset! What was that? Looked like a dam big ole milk jug!

Could you imagine being in the surviving aircraft in that first wing? Out of nowhere half or more of your buddies just seem to randomly explode mid air, right in front of you, no flames initially, no visual on air defenses or hostile aircraft, then all of the sudden you hear the roar of 30mm hellfire and the scream of a jet. I mean shit, the 262 could come in from heights they probably didn't think possible, at least by anything but maybe a blimp/zepplin. Not to mention was carrying basically artillery compared to what they had at the time.

Much like the "what-if" scenarios of sending a modern U.S carrier group back into the Pacific theatre of WW2, the impact is surprisingly lackluster. Once the carrier group is out of advanced missiles and other high-tech weapons, they can't really do much and the America of the 1940s can't re-supply them. Germany from 1914-19 wouldn't be able to service ME-262s either. Sure looked like a lot of fun though.

I love the screams of terror as they fly past the cockpit. Hilarious.

Jezus....like you took unassembled Ikea furniture up there in the sky and just shook all parts out of the boxes. Savage. That multi 30mm is like throwing mountains at those wood-n-wire planes.

I was in New York City for Independence Day 2000, and there was a flypast of all current large planes the USAF and USN had in their inventory. They formations went up the Hudson River, and the four F-14s in diamond formation were so freaking loud that the vibrations triggered the anti-theft alarms in most of the cars on the parking deck we were watching from. Imagine what their sonic boom would do to those canvas contraptions…

Those World War I planes truly look like they were crudely assembled with Lincoln logs and Elmers glue

It's amazing how technology progressed in a couple of decades. Those old planes tear apart like cardboard.

That was a fun one ahahah loved it ! I don’t know if that’s true but I’ve heard that modern jet fighters can burn such « paper planes » only with the concentrated energy from their radar.
