Hidden and completely isolated for many centuries in the volcanic region of Etna, the Cirnechi Dell'Etna is a dog that stands out for its resistance to heat and its ability to work many hours without eating or drinking, a virtue that it keeps today. Used as a hunter and as a guard dog in temples and sacred places, it’s believed that he comes from an ancient Greek colony in North Africa, from where it was introduced later on the island of Sicily by Phoenician merchants. Actually, the Cirnechi was recognized by the AKC and is predominantly used as a family pet companion.
