Eddie Izzard did 27 marathons in 27 days... and he's "just" a comedian. Some people can handle it , others can't. To each his own... Most people don't need to remember they're not invincible - but a hell of a lot more need to push themselves harder to see what they're capable of.

one year in high school, (im a paraplegic) i told myself i was too old to ride the bus and should have been driving, i didnt want to ride the bus anymore so i told the driver she would no longer be driving me to or from school that i would just go in my wheelchair, so as stubborn as i was i did just that 4.3 miles to and from school for a whole year, honestly i wasnt sure if i could do it and i proved myself wrong while having people stop on the side of the road asking me if i needless to say i never took any of the offers and pushed only to have proved myself wrong, so that was 3.4 miles twice a day for 365 days +\- non school days

Loved the video Casey, so motivational! A year ago today I was playing volleyball and felt strange sensation in the back of my neck. I didn't think much of it at first but then I began to feel pain in the back of my neck and weakness in my arms and legs. Within 30 minutes I was paralyzed from the neck down and unable to breathe at all; thankfully I was in the hospital by then. I am still fully dependent on a ventilator to breathe and have no movement below my neck but it's wonderful to watch you and live vicariously through someone so spirited! Keep being awesome - David

For you doing the impossible is running 4 marathons in a 7 days. According to me doing the impossible is running 100m due to my physical condition. I was told at 21 I have a neurodegenerative disease, which might end up very bad in 5-6 years. Now I am 28, I lost my dad, I am going to graduate as MSc and I got accepted in one of the first University in the world for a PhD without even getting paid. They accepted my research proposal. They say, you can do your PhD and work to get money. Well, I don't have any money, and I am not sure to be able to do the PhD itself, but I accepted. All of this started with my dream. Doing research to help people with my disease in the near future, since its to late for me to change my situation. Casey, you are one hell of a man though. I admire your passion and attitude.

Casey if you Expect, Believe, and Say "I'm going to be depressed at the end of summer" You will be..... Maybe speaking out loud to yourself like "I'm going to find joy in spite of winter this year" could help turn it around :) Thanks for sharing, your my running hero bro!!
@specialagent45756 жыл бұрын
Nah, it's a thing that happens to people. Reduced sunlight and all that. The same thing happens to one of my best friends. He gets really down in the winter and when summer time rolls around, he starts feeling a lot better. It's literally due to less sunlight. It's probably even worse in New York than it is in California (we just have less daylight hours, they have rain and other crap to deal with).
@Lumencraft-6 жыл бұрын
SpecialAgent45, I'm not saying there are not other factors contributing. Photo sensitiveity is very real. When you say things yourself, those words have a powerful impact, because who do you believe more than yourself... Sometimes the best way to silence a doubtful inner voice is to speak out loud over the top of it with a confident outward one.

Nicholas Major Nicholas Major he can't run as much because New York gets nice amounts of snow and ice so he can't run around in short and a short sleeve all the time he has to wait for it to be clearer and not all iced up, this also makes it harder to get around for work cause he can't ride his board and stuff so it takes longer to do things. Also I think that last part was very unnecessary buddy.

I'm about to be 34 in a few months. I've gotten a bit overweight over the last 10 years at 220lbs. I quit actually working out at 23. Working a night shift doesn't help. It's extremely hot in FL and I don't think it's smart to do a whole lot in the heat. However, I think you just inspired me to do more than a half hour a day on the treadmill. I'm going to start tomorrow after I get off work and push for 10 miles, and do it everyday after. Weight loss isn't the goal but is a welcomed effect. I was skinny at one time, thanks to cardio, four hours a day, for six months, going from 230 to 140 at 16 years old. Lets see if I can do it again.

Just had a thought, what if you challenged yourself to something that you don't do naturally? You really like running, so doing a little extra distance probably wouldn't be as hard as say: don't eat candy for 7 days, or sleep 8 hours a day for 7 days. Great video as always, thanks for making these!

It's almost like carrying a child for 9 months! I just love Candice! She's never shy to put Casey back in his place. He often makes fun of how Candice doesn't exercise. Yet I think what she's doing is mentally and physically so much more challenging. Wouldn't it be an idea to take Francine out or do some chores in the time you'd go running? To give your wife some relief from her constant stress too? :)
@withdiamonds876 жыл бұрын
Marie Bach I often think this too... he should challenge himself by doing the impossible and being there all day for 7 days with his child... rather than running. I personally reckon it would be way more rewarding, and probably physically and mentally more draining that 7 marathons!
@masha73776 жыл бұрын
@@withdiamonds87 totally. Being alone is easy. Constantly checking in with someone else's needs is very draining, esp since Frannie doesn't have the brains yet to rationally compromise. ;)

@tommynikon22836 жыл бұрын
Casey: 4 marathons in a week? WTF? Suggest you look at your Xrays again from your cycle accident. They're a mess. I ran like you, daily....more than 2000mi every year, for more than two decades, running thru the pain, injuries, NOT listening to my body or anybody else and...at age 50 it hurt to walk; ten years prior I had to give up running completely. Now at 62....I just had my Right hip completely replaced. Do you know why? Because I had injured it in highschool....but I kept running. Didn't listen to anybody. And I paid the price- and having ever been a runner is like I'm talking about somebody else- not me, and not me in a long time. That identity is gone. So good luck, LISTEN to your body, and be cognizant of the downsides. I look at my Xray with a titanium "tent stake" down the middle of my femur, the plastic socket at the top, the four 4" screws inbedded into my pelvic bone, my inability to be as active as I was my whole life and go..... I shoulda listened, backed off some, and thought about the LONG TERM goal....instead of my short term goals which were always....more miles!

@vivianloney88265 жыл бұрын
@@fjm457 You need to take time to recover properly during exercise. Or your body becomes less and less effective at healing itself. After every run you will have micro tears in your muscles, inflammation in your tendons and ligaments. Recovery is when your body heals from the impact and this is where strength is built into your muscles, joints, bones, and lungs. If he had improper form he would have been injured in 6 months, it takes years for the effects of overtraining to take place. Then you get stress fractures, arthritis, tendonopathy, etc. You don't even need to take a rest day. You need to periodize your mileage and intensity, and know to taper when at risk of overtraining.
