Good morning Al. Your kitchen is a great testimony to functional design and Kitchen Aid! Purchased my stand mixer in 1977 and still going strong! Did take a cue from you and bought a 6 qt. Instant Pot. It is just my husband and I, but my brother-in-law enjoys coming down from the main farm for weekend dinners. Like your family, we are a mix of the "BEST OF " 1935 and 2018. Soon you will be unfolding continued homesteading adventures in 2019. All the best in the coming New Year!

Nice Video its so cool on your Farm Sorry for my English I‘m from Germany
@Bamboo4U25 жыл бұрын
In German, you capitalize the first letter of all nouns, correct? That's one thing we don't do in English. (So in your first sentence, "video" and "farm" don't need to be capitalized. And "it's so cool" needs the apostrophe since "it's" is a contraction of "it and is.")
@gailc.goodwin20535 жыл бұрын
Don't be sorry, you did very well writing in English. It's a hard language to learn with some crazy rules. Most people wouldn't do very well writing in German, right? Guten Tag!

What a lovely day you had. Isn’t it a satisfying feeling roasting a turkey you raised? We had a quiet sunny rain free Christmas Day with a home raised roast chicken, home grown sweet potatoes and pickled beets, deer sausage dressing with our own onions and garlic. Whipped cream from our Jersey on green tomato mincemeat pie for dessert. Your Christmas treats for the animals were great. Wishing you the very best forv2019

That is one yummy looking Christmas feast!! We had smoked Turkey legs and used hickory and apple wood chips for it. Delicious! A chef's tip I picked up in hospitality is when you use your knife to scrape food off the board, use the other side (Top Part) of the knife to scrape otherwise the knife loses its sharpness and goes blunt quicker :D

Such a joy to watch your video’s! Thank you for sharing your Christmas Day with us. Everything looks delicious! You work very hard providing video’s of your journey of your farm. I find watching your video’s so calming. My adult daughter is struggling with chronic Lyme Disease and has been very sick which is heartbreaking as a parent. Watching your video’s through the years has been a joyful experience, so on hard days you may have filming your life, know it does make a difference in people’s lives. We used an orange, apple, & spice brine recipe (I only used 1/3 of the salt added just before cooking) on our turkey, and cooked it (in the brine) breast side down for a majority of the cook time then flipped for the last 30 mins or so and man did that turkey breast meat come out sooo juicy... Even my husband was impressed and he's not much of a turkey person.

When you have an oven fire, sprinkle baking soda on the flame. It will put the fire out (it suffocates the the flame,) absorbs any liquid and helps with the clean up. Backing soda is one of the ingredients in kitchen fire extinguishers!

Beautiful sunset! We dont cook on Christmas. We prefer to relax and enjoy the day. We have things prepared ahead. When I got up I stuck the Breakfast Burritos in the oven. Around 2 we stuck the Lasagna in. Cheeseball and desserts all made the day before. We use paper plates to minimize the cleanup. Give it a try one year. I think you'll have a new tradition.

Al, Glad you all had a Happy Christmas ! Kitchen fires are not good. We had a fire in our microwave the week before Christmas. It's old and had been doing random things in its programs recently. At 4am it decided to grill!! It grilled its empty self so hard there was blue smoke everywhere. We disconnected it from the mains and let it cool down. At 04:20 I bought a replacement on Amazon, which is just amazing as the following day it was here. The old one is in the garden on its way to recycling. Moral of the story.... Smoke alarms are cool. We have 4 in our house as it is long and 3 floors high. Happy New Year when it comes. Regards Stephen.
