How i store my cutting dies- i got magnetic vent covers from Lowe's , cut them to fit in page savers. The page savers were added to a three ring binder. Works great, cost effective and saves time.

I used to store my dies in a binder but it got too heavy and then started to fall apart. I like them to be more accessible.

Fantastic idea 👏🏼☀️ Those albums are shocking for photos and you’ve put it to much better use. You’ve saved yourself some money and bought something from a thrift store.

I did something similar using those sheets and canvas boards from Dollartree. Works very well.

That’s a good idea! I initially used a cardboard display from the dollar tree but it was too thick

OMG as a journal and card maker, this was sad to me, but if they are not to your taste, I get it.

I wouldn’t use one of these books as is, this one definitely had nicer images than most but still not my taste.

Thanks for the video, this is a great idea. Do you have a video on how you made the easel you showed us first? The dollar store version would make a very popular tutorial too. I would really like to use that for when I'm working with a lot of dies for the same project, it looks so useful!

I don’t have a video for the easel yet but will try to work on making one.

What is the thickness and/or strength of the magnetic sheets? I tried staples magnetic sheets and they weren't really good for normal sized dies, just small ones. I also find that some brands of magnetic sheets are too thin to really give a good "grip" to magnetic dies. Thanks for the share.

You can find the link in the description of the video. They are from Amazon.

Very clever! I've always kept my dies sorted by brand, but I'm wondering how much more I would use them if they could be flipped through so easily.
@heatherspaperplayroom Жыл бұрын
I know that I use mine more because they are so easy to access. If you really wanted to know the name of the dies you could label the pages.

Great video. I purchased magnetic sheets in plastic envelopes from Amazon a few years ago. Either my dies are crappy or the magnetic sleeves are as they don’t hold the dies at all. Do your sheets hold the dies in place?😀🇨🇦

Yes, I’ve had no issue with my dies falling off.

I suggest trying “stamp ‘n storage” magnetic sheets. They might be more expensive, but they work well. They also have high quality storage for the sheets and also everything else. Like the stamp pads, refill, watercolor marker. They also have storage for several different popular companies, like Ranger, etc. good luck! Occasionally he has specials. The storage is made by high quality wood. I did find a company with similar storage made in white plastic that was a lot cheaper. I can’t remember name but I bet you could find through google. IKEA also has products that can work for some craft supplies. I also use Ranger, Tim Holtz,, Simon Says Stamp, Spellbinders, Stampin Up. Good luck in finding what works for you! Nancy in Colorado

I purchased "magnetic vent covers" from Lowes. They come 3 to a package and cost quite a bit less, the only catch is that you have to cut them to size. You can use regular scissors, I use dollar store ones. I think they are 8 x 15 inches. Happy crafting.
@heatherspaperplayroom Жыл бұрын
@@mamapillow8365 that’s a great idea, I wasn’t sure if they would be strong enough to hold the dies.

I agree with the destruction of a very nice book vs using $1 poster board. Its nuts. Everything is content, I guess.
@MsHazza73 Жыл бұрын
I would do this any day of the week. These albums are notoriously bad for photos and rarely in decent patterns or colour schemes. Heather bought this book for $1.50 and it served an important purpose for her crafting. You cannot pull the pages apart to use the images as they are stuck fast. Don’t be so passive aggressive with your comments.

Do you not need to know the brand or name of your dies? For some reason I seem to remember my die and stamp sets by brand. I keep them in clear plastic envelopes, stamps in front, dies in back, and label with brand and name of set. I keep them n a rack, organized by brand. I also made a catalog of what I had, which was a lot of work but now I just have to add new ones to it. This works for me, but we all need our craft areas to work for ourselves.
@heatherspaperplayroom Жыл бұрын
My matching die/stamp sets are stored very similar to yours. All of these dies are stand alone ones and I have them catalogued in Evernote. I really don’t need to know the name or manufacturer as when looking for a die I often just flip through them which works out easier than looking through Evernote. My main reason for cataloging them in Evernote is so that I don’t duplicate purchasing!

Why didn’t you just use the book and put the magnets in it?
@heatherspaperplayroom Жыл бұрын
I never thought of that. I started with the Zutter ones in the case so was looking for a cheaper option. I don’t think the book would close at all if I added the magnet sheets and the dies though. It would certainly be worth a try to see what it would look like.
@MsHazza73 Жыл бұрын
It wouldn’t close once you put magnetic sheets plus dies on both sides of each page. You’d have to expand the spine for it to function.
