Thank you! I just used your instructions to lay and test the wires in my wife's doll house. I'll keep watching in hopes you show how to get the lights connected!

I love your series. I’m watching them all before I start. I have my practice board. Running through my head right now is I want ceiling lights. I have the really good toys Vermont farmhouse jr. the floors are hardwood on the second floor. They came as the ceiling and floor all one piece. So you are wiring in the room box from the second floor through the floor. I can’t do that. How do I wire. From the ceiling and glue the fixture to the ceiling?

That is a lot harder to get right unfortunately. I would run the tape on the ceiling under whatever ceiling paper you are going to use. Then wire the light like you would a wall sconce. Just be sure to glue well and have any wires tucked under the fixture. In my houses even when they come with the hardwood as the top of the ceiling panel I use other floor materials over the hardwood so I can wire my lights easily. That's what I am doing in my current project.

After you install lights and one or more stop working can you repair it without tearing apart your house? I'm guessing that would be what the pictures are used for. To find the tape when needed. Can you reuse the tape wire? I really like how well organized you keep every thing.

that is what we are hoping for. Because of how we are working you should be able to track down any problems without having to tear everything out. Also with the exception of the front porch light you should have easy access to the wired in light fixtures. I have never tried to re-use the tape wire, I suppose if you don't have too many holes it might be doable but I am not sure. I don't think it would be worth the risk though. If the tape-wire fails you will have to replace it so using fresh wire for each project is better than risking having to replace it.

What is the purpose for having the wiring go all around the base at 1”? Is this for lamps later on? Seems like you could save a lot of wire if you didn’t need to go all around each room.

do you always need to have the blue strip on tape to the left or does it only matter for placing to 4 diagonal grommets in the cross sections

What if you aren’t using foam core as a base but wood instead? How would I add in the grommets
@samberg1477

The little poker tool also comes with a screw. So you would screw it a little bit to get it started and then lightly hammer the grommet in

@@samberg1477 Screw? or do you mean the #55 drill bit to make a starter grommet hole in the mdf? Would you make the hole 1/2 as deep as the grommet goes in and then hammer it in. Will the grommet cut thru the other half of the distance by hammering it flush? Thanks.

I made a room box and want to "plug in" a table lamp and a floor lamp. How do I connect the lamps to the transformer? Do I need a powerstrip?

Would you generally go through doors with the tape, or around the outside/open side of a dollhouse?

I'm wondering that too, like from one room to the next on the same floor, do you run the wire around the entire perimeter of each room? Maybe only areas you want to plug things in? Like in a real kitchen maybe you would run tape wire at a higher place like above the kitchen counter height. But to go from one room to the next room does the wire go through the wall? Maybe you could run it behind a wall if there's a gap there. What about wall sconces you don't want wires showing all the way down to the floor.

@@recoveringsoul755 I think all walls have to be wallpapered to hide the tape, as well as wood textures and lumps and bumps - although that can be a plain colour for the painted wall look. That’s mostly what I’ll be doing. Plain “painted” walls that are, in fact, wallpapered because I prefer plainer walls but have to hide a lot of tape. I ended up with tape going around the outsides so it could go from room to room, and a couple of tapes reaching up for (future) wall sconces on either side of the (future) fireplace.

@@amyslingsby6947 okay, thanks for that, I guess we can always hide the open edge of the floors and walls by covering them up. I've seen some people make removable floors by using cardstock or poster board and attaching their hardwood floor to that and sliding it in. Allowing easy access to any wiring for the ceiling on the floor below, or allowing to easily change the flooring out.

@@amyslingsby6947 hope you left a way to light up the fireplace itself. If you make a removable fireplace you could use a tealight from the back of underneath access. The last home I lived in the wall of the living room with the fireplace on it was completely bricked, and a protruding hearth was at sitting level, making like a bench. If you did that on mini scale, even for a removable fireplace, you could hide the girth of the tealight in there and have the actual fireplace more flush to the wall to allow room for the flame part . Apparently those little flame shapes are removable too. Leaving just the nub of the LED

Sorry to bother, can i use polymer clay as the base? I have ~zero~ experience in this but had a really neat idea but dont wanna use foam board :/ Like.... have the size and shape i want the base, poke my lead into it, remove it, bake it, and then lay my wire and glue the lead back on?
