I know this song by Whitney Houston but when I found out it's Dolly Parton who is the original singer I fell in love with the original. Dolly captures more emotions, her voice is like a velvet and it fits this song more.

I always cry when Dolly Parton sings this song I Will Always Love You she is so sincere the song is so heartfelt. She is a true Entertainer who always gets her point across I remember this song frokthe movie "Best Little Whorehouse in Texas," which starred Dolly Parton and Burt Reynolds she was amazing and when she sang the song in that movieI cry every time I hear the song. Great actress out standing performance; She was so sincere and believable I cried when she left Bert Reynolds. Dolly the world will always love you. Bravo encore🎉 every song she ever sang is a winner.🇺🇸🎇🎇🎇🎇✌️ spectacular!

Well, I must admit it's the first time tonight I'm taking a look at the original version(s) of "I will always love you" by its writer. I've always thought it was Whitney's song, even though it was written by Dolly Parton. Dolly Parton looked so kitsch to me - I'm French and don't know much about country music. And then, tonight, I was watching the videoclip for "We are the world", wondered who the attractive bearded guy was (Kenny Rogers) and then watched his duet with Dolly on "We've got tonight". Didn't know Dolly at all but loved the funny joke about "Who needs Sheena Easton", her teasing smile and the complicity between the two. I'm just discovering who she is. And I find her very touching behind the excentric look, the hair, the big lips and boobs (she was very cute when she was young). I love her voice, the sensitive way she sings her own song. Much more powerful and moving than Whitney's (that I love, though). I'm going to listen to everything she's done! Thanks for sharing! :)

The same happened to me, I'm a big fan of Dolly now. You should watch her interview with Barbara Walters, in that interview she explains why she wears wigs and eccentric outfits, because she wants everyone to recognize her. Iconic artists like Dolly have done the same, some examples Michael Jackson and Elvis Presley.

You should listen to Dolly and Porter Waoner singing ' The pain of Loving you' Also ' That was before I met you' .. 'We found it' ... 'Run that by me one more time' ..and The right Combination' and if you know anything about body language you can clearly see that they were in love. The intimate glances, flirting and the chemistry between them is magical. I have no doubt that the rumours of a love affair are well founded. She wrote ' I will always love you' for Porter when she was leaving his show after 7 years to further her career. She kept her promise to always love him and was at his bedside, with her hand over his heart , singing ' I will always love you' when he died, aged 80 yrs.

So easy to see why Dolly had not one but two number one hits with this song before Whitney sung it. Dolly had already made million's from it and made even more by letting Whitney borrow her song and then also making Dolly Parton the only person in history to have had a triple number one hit with the same song. Dolly is a smart women as well as the greatest singer/songwriter in history.

This song by Dolly is a country (ballad ) aka love song. I don't mind covers. I just don't like it when people always says it's a Whitney Houston song. Dolly not only wrote it as it's her song about a real story going all the way back to 1974. Oh yes Whitney did make it her own but many times I prefer thee original then any cover. When songs get recycled people forget whom the original artist and song were performed by. I love the way she sings it as it was country song not pop etc

Dolly wrote this song for Porter Wagoner who gave her the first big break on his weekly Grand Ole Opry tv show that was watched by millions of people. She stayed on the show for 7 yrs and it was a love hate relationship. Looking at them singing duets like ' The pain of loving you' and' Run me over that one more time' the chemistry between them is magicsal. It is evident they really loved each other. However they fought a lot over their music and production so much that Dolly decided to leave the show and move on. @@candlemelt Whichever version of the song people prefer is a matter of personal taste so arguing over which version is the best , is pointless. Personally, I prefer Dolly's version because it was written by her from the heart for a special person in her life whom she loved dearly i.e Porter Wagoner whose show she performed on for 7 years. It is not only her voice, but the feeling and emotion thay inspired her to write the song is what captures my heart.. I heard her introduce the song once on stage by saying " In everybody's life there is always a special person that they love more than anybody else in the world , and I wrote this song for that special person in my life". She was referring to Porter Wagoner whose show she worked on for 7 years.

I can't believe she ruined your own song it was so beautiful when she sang it in 1973 but now she's just overreacting and yep she ruin your own song by trying to look glamorous instead of loving😢😢😢😅😢😂🎉😢 that's terrible

Dolly conveys such confidence and emotion singing this song. But most of all the comfort and nurturing is there as well. One of the best songs ever and I’m a die hard metal head
