I grew up on country music. My friends in the city couldn’t understand my love for the music. Our radio stations only played country so it was a given. I’ve watched very few people who look like me representing our love for the genre. I am so pleased to see these young ladies not only representing, but bringing back the sound I grew up on. I think it's really interesting when she said that country wouldn't look like them. I think even the die hard country listeners forget that the Blues is what started it all, and was predominantly Black Americans singing it. Elvis took inspiration from Blues and Country to make the iconic sound.
