Dolphin swims over to kayak to say hello…

Lived here for 3 years and very rarely see cetaceans in the spring/summer, even though we know they are around, mainly because of noisy invasive tourists and jet-skis but this encounter has made my year! I spotted this Bottlenose Dolphin parallel to us about 150m away and then literally a few seconds later it was right there so must have seen us and change direction. Then, a few moments after surfacing it was gone and came up for air on it’s original path 2-300 meters away again.

What an experience! We watched them on my birthday last year at New Quay harbour I thought that was an amazing privilege, but being in the water with one so close just amazing!
