I've always felt that this era of Charger was one of the best looking cars of that period, it's just too big. If it was built at about 2/3 or 3/4 scale it would be perfect. Somewhere around the size and scale of the '65 Mustang but looking just as it does there. I saw a video a couple of years ago, I believe the guy was in Italy but I'm not certain. He disassembled a Charger of this period and completely redid it at about 3/4 size. It had the original V8 rebuilt and the original 4-speed. I have no idea what he spent on it but the results were spectacular! It was done in burgundy with black leather... soooo nice!!
@tomnekuda3818
@tomnekuda3818 4 жыл бұрын
@@MrGaryGG48 I owned a RoadRunner of the same period. For me it was the perfect size car. Mopar had the Challenger and the Cuda for pony cars. They were pretty nice but like the Nova I owned, with power they would come around on you very fast with the short wheelbase. I'd really like to see your 3/4 size Charger,tho; I bet it was cool if done right. Hang in there, chief.

@@DuBstep115 DuBstep115 I hadn't thought of the Dart but the one that comes to mind is about the right size (for the discussion). I know that the marketing people have their own agendas but a car of those proportions would be a really interesting proposition. With the smaller size, the power-to-weight ratio could have been impressive. As I've commented before, "They just never asked for my opinion!" ...and my wife's retort, "OK, what's your point??" ;^)

A killer episode, totally dig Dom's Mopar ride here man! I owned two 1969 Chargers a 383 one & a highly optioned 440 RT/SE, so when the first "Fast & Furious" movie came on the scene I was on board, I even know the fellow who rented the first big block blown drag motor for Dom's initial 1970 Charger for the close up shots in LA.

Second generation Chargers are the most beautiful design of any muscle car that ever came out of Detroit. It is a shame that they are also the most destroyed TV/movie cars of all time. It is a wonder that there are any of these 50 year old cars left at all.

Yeah that is cool that he's into driving his baby end doing burn out....for anyone who thinks we are crazy for doing burn outs....dodges always had great low end power as soon as u let the clutch out or stepped on the gas pedal they would start trying to spin the rear tires so if u wanted to impress your friends I only needed to go to quarter throttle and u were spinning an spitting rubber oh yeah with a simple 1970 two barrel 318v8 and it 230 horse power u could roast them pretty easy....with a shift kit I actually melted rubber on to the bottoms of both quarter panels of a non posi car I spun it so hard with just 180 hp 1972 barracuda......but my 70 challenger 3 speed manual would try to break the tires loose in first gear every time I let the clutch out good gear ratios....most muscle cars they made u pay extra for that not dodge they had a lot of performance stuff for the street other didn't give u....like fun and a balance car with tortion bars like a BMW use so u could adjust weight front to rear just by turning two bolts for real hot rodders they actually make tear offs for your lower rear quarter panels so when u go to the drag strip u don't scratch ur ten thousand dollar restored paint job.just pull it off like dirt bike goggles tear off when ur done....I was the only person in my neighbor hood to actually put their mopar thru it paces racing and driving it like it was stolen when there wasn't a lot of traffic what made dodge better besides there looks with Nascar and drag racing in their blood they were aerodynamically better the faster they went and became more stable plus the suspension design technology was advanced an more sophisticated they were great highway cars better then most at higher speeds safer.....

The most iconic charger? The general Lee is the most iconic

No. the most iconic Dodge Charger was the 1968 Dodge Charger R/T with the original 440 in the movie Bullitt with Steve McQueen.

@@TheFlatlander440 Right on. Better than the '69 Charger. '68 is my favorite. I've owned an 81 and 79 Trans Am, one of which having a Pontiac 400 swap, 79 and 00 Firebirds, 79 Camaro, and 68 Le Mans with a Pontiac 400 swap. All of the vehicles I've owned can be seen in my "My Carz" playlist And I was born in 1997. I will now own a '70 Plymouth Road Runner, 68-76 Stingray, and more Trans Ams. 70 Barracuda and 68 GTO are on the list, too.

fun Fact : these cars were originally designed to be "desert speeders".... my preference of the rap around the nose port bumpers is higher than that of the under nose bar bumper of the 68-69.
