don't get frustrated or have expectations too high. Drafting is a skill and it's going to take time to develop your chops. it's ever changing and one of the most unique and awesome things about MTG. Enjoy the process. it took me a few weeks to win a round when I started drafting in person.

@@Traplordsosa oh yeah definitely, besides I had drafted in person before but never got the science or the strategy to it, ive mainly did mostly of the mistakes mentioned in this video but this premium draft ill take it as a challenge to actually try better so once I draft with my cousins again I can get some higher spots!

@@mcbescheiden725 Not super helpful. they weren't available at the time of this video. Arena doesn't offer new set quick drafts for almost 2 weeks. just another way WOTC likes to squeeze MTG players making them play the far more expensive draft format.

Sitting down to study this with a notepad have been struggling. Best I've done is 5-3 in premiere and 2-1 in traditional draft, 2-2 in qualifier play in sealed bo1. Best wishes for your eye recovery.

The mana worker has saved me several games. I have even played it successfully in an aggro deck that somehow ended up needing fixing. No one ever thinks to kill it since it is so unassuming, unlike the 1/1 deathtouch that people will always want to get rid of with any ping they have. My D'Avenants have been disappointing simply because they almost _invariably_ get instakilled the moment I play them. Their problem is they are basically the only high profile target for removals that you have in your go-wide deck.

I am jamming Grotto in my 2-color decks with off-color kicker and the free scry has been amazing for stopping flood.

Repulse was a staple in all decks back in the days, making it sorcery with a minor kicker is maybe not an upgrade but still almost as good.

I’ve played about 10 sealed’s and about 10 drafts, and have never seen a single Wingmantle Chaplain, nor a Herd Migration. My win rate is around 60% so I’m satisfied, not struggling. Just wish I would see great cards more often. I feel like I’m never lucky in that regard.

"There's not that many mulldrifter type creatures in the set." I'm glad someone finally acknowledged this. Seems like LoL have convinced themselves that every creature in the set is a 2-for-1, but this format is just a huge flood fest if you don't draft cards that can filter or draw you out of hitting a land geyser in your deck on turns 6-10, and the luckier player just wins on card quality.

@@SkulosGav LOL is the podcast/group lords of limited and Mulldrifter is a draft/cube/pauper allstar it's a 2/2 flying fish for 4u which can be evoked for 2u. Even in Double Masters 2022 it could be pack 1 pick 1/2 because of how good it is.

DMU has been probably the most difficult set I have ever drafted, best result of 5-3 in 16 drafts... I am of course not a good drafter in general but by draft 15 of any format I do have a couple of 7 wins to show for my effort with an average of 4-3 throughout. I have a train of 2-3 results for this and I am seriously unable to find my lane in each draft. I have tried forcing, i have tried being open till middle of pack 2, and I am actually getting frustrated. I have stopped for now, feel like i have been wasting the gold coins and gems I accumulated over the summer.

My biggest personall issue is whether I corectly recognise an open line. I drafted 4 or 5 times the quick draft and I had always pivoted to green/x. And I'm not sure if I'm too weary about finding other game plans or if it's just been my luck so far. I average around 4 wins, but I'm just finding it hard to stick to a deck that doesn't end up being 4 colours. And it's my first time in any sets that I find myself with this problem. Maybe the kickers and domain are blinding me, swaying away from simpler, more coherent decks... maybe in time I'll get a feeling for the format and stop just being a domain slave

They’re better for content, most people like bo1>b03 + I personally like playing against a wide variety of decks in a draft run. I like bo3 too though!

If it came off that way, that’s not at all my intention. Part of improving is recognizing that it doesn’t happen overnight. The thoughts at the beginning are broad things to focus on if you’re trying to dial in on why you might be having trouble, the rest of the podcast is actionable advice to get there.

@@limitedlevel-ups Sorry, this sounded way more harsh than I meant it. Rest of the video was awesome as always and very helpful. Beginning was just quite general advice with a lot of 'it depends' and 'you need experience to decide.' Which of course is correct, but not very informative imho.

Tolarian Geyser is a medium card in this set you can't break double blocks with it, you can't save your own creature, there are no fat tokens you're killing with it, there are plenty of opp creatures you don't want to bounce because they get another etb effect when they come down again it doesn't hit non-creature permanents if your opener has 2 lands you might not get there; ie doesn't cycle so many fatties in the set have huge mana discounts you're tempo gain is marginal it's not underrated

Tolarian Geyser performed for me in any deck that had it in it rather well. In U/W tempo or R/U tempo and even in G/Domain it always was a card that i was looking forward to cast. Usually giving me an attack or more time to get my pay offs in the domain deck. Even against me as R/W aggro or G/Domain it performed well for my opponent too.

@@limitedlevel-ups I love this format, it feels more like a master set than a normal draft set. Many very playble cards and several high synergistic archetypes.
