Even though he said the system did not change. I feel like our 5v5 entries definitely changed. The year prior our forwards often Would cut to the middle of the ice and another forward would cut in front or behind them for a criss cross which often lead to good chances on the rush but also often lead to turnovers. So in in small aspects i think the system did change to limit turnovers. But overall the forecheck, backcheck, neutral zone and dzone all looked similar. Albeit they played better in their own dzone than the year prior

Why would Brind’Amour want to coach an underperforming team that he needs to fix? He has a good team he has built up over the last few years, and unless he gets badly outcoached in the playoffs he’s likely to get an extension from Carolina.

Granato was Fired now because he wants to beat the Flyers to Craig Berube , IMO. If its not him then Id be happy with Quennville, Gallant Ruff , Dean Evason, or Boudreau . Hoping Mckee and Peca are hired as assistant coaches.

Pres of hockey operations Pat LaFontaine, what happened there? This is K Adams team he assembled it while trading away impact players who are in the playoffs(Montour, Reinhart, Eichel). He is an assistant GM at best. Granato deserved better. Trading a center coming into his own for a young D only repeats a system of restocking not adding a vet who can provide an edge ,knowing what it takes to compete. For a coach hire one not connected at all with its past.

Eichel and Reinhart needed to go, the damage to their relationship with the locker room and team was already done. As much as I also dislike losing Mittlestadt, Bowen Byram is a great young(er) d-man who has proven he pairs well with Dahlin and Power. We also have a massive logjam of forwards at the moment so the move more than makes sense. We still have: Rosen, Kulich, and Savoie all potentially ready to jump onto the roster as early as next season, not to mention our first round pick in the upcoming draft and any breakouts from training camp.
