Glenn once said they've got a bit of everything, which seemed to mean more than one, talent wise. Not every band has that, and that's what made them so beautifully unique and gifted. I'm curious how they see themselves because many in show business are their worst critics, and hard to be satisfied with their own performances.

I completely agree. Don Henley is one of the most compelling male musical artists of his time. His songwriting is just masterful and his voice is haunting. So many of his songs just drip with soul crushing raw emotion that could not possibly be from anything other than his own personal painful experiences. Yet, they are so well written and sung that the listener very often feels like they were written about their own personal experiences. That is the magic of amazing songwriting and singing and so few do it nearly as well.

Henley is living legend. An American musical treasure. Everything he writes and everything he sings and performs is a potential, probable hit. There is always a message in his songs, in the lyrics, sometimes hidden but most times right there for you to connect with, whether you agree with the message or not. There are only a handful of artists who gift us with their talent over a career that spans decades. Don Henley is one of those.

@kroakie49 жыл бұрын
+Brittany Andrew, ok you have some valid points. No this isn't Eagles, yes it's Don Henley as a solo artist. But I was speaking to the original poster when they said these rockers never slow down. That could mean Eagles or Don Henley. Don't blame me for bringing up Eagles. It's Don Henley; he will always be associated with Eagles first and foremost, no matter how many solo albums he puts out. And when I said they don't slow down, I meant that their ability to perform and play is still just as good as it was in the early days. Sorry I didn't spell it out for you. I agree that the live performances are incredible. I saw the Eagles in their Hell Freezes Over Tour in a relatively small venue (Bryce Jordan Center at Penn State). They were fantastic. Absolutely real musicians. Often in live performances the lead singer hits the wrong notes multiple times or their voice doesn't have the strength and quality one is used to in recorded music.They didn't have that problem at all. And the sections of just music were incredible.

Mike Mcdonnell I have been a FAN of the Eagles music since their first LP was released. I have read books/articles about Henley and the late Glenn Frey's shitty behavior toward other band mated and others. They were total assholes who ran off founding member Randy Meisner when he was having trouble hitting high notes and substance abuse. Their real crime was getting rid of the great guitarist Don Felder who cowrote "Hotel California". Read some of the books or have a look at a good Eagles' documentary "History of the Eagles".

Your, friend Greg Rule introduced me to your song " take a picture of this" I don't see how I missed this song its beautiful as all your songs are. Honestly, your not just gifted at singing,or playing the drums, but your true talent is song writing. Your song writing is right up there with Stevie Nicks, but the difference is your music is magical and it brings something pure to the listener, where one can transport to a time where the world wasn't to busy and people actually cared and talked to one another a peaceful time. can never look at one time in my life that I wasn't going through some kind of heartbreak or another or type of lost, where your music did not inspire me to move on and get through something I thought would surely take my heart beat away. Your music and lyrical content brings healing to those of us who are willing to listen to the music 🎶 🎶. I pray you keep writing your music and that you will always have a muse to inspire you to write many more songs in your future. Well take care and God bless. Hope to see you out on the road some day in one of your concerts when the world opens up again. Best wishes

Don Henley is the consumate artist. A brilliant singe/song writer. What initially sounds like a lovey-dovey song is tainted by melancholia -something Henley does so well -tell it like it is. Great band & musicianship as you would expect. Could almost be an Eagles song. Cass County is becoming a very listenable album. It flows well & more easily than some of his solo works & is definitely growing on me. One of the few artists that still inspire me to buy a physical album these days. Henley is one of the good guys. Thank God there are still a few real artists still making great music out there. Thanks Don.

What ever the hell Americana means in music, to me Don Henley is the sound of old America, before the economy held people hostage and our system actually worked .... gone now, but the voice and conscious of the Eagles lives on,

Love Don Henley, the Eagles were one of, if not the best group that ever came down the pike. So were the Temptations... These two groups have great meaning in My life. Never saw the Temptations live, but The Eagles , four times. Rest In Peace Glenn...3%

The definitive and defining voice of the Eagles. The problem with that for Don H is that anybody listening over the radio will instantly think of this as an Eagles song. That was what happened with Boys of Summer.

@don henley Hi Don, I live in London. I have been listening to the Eagles since 1975, when I was 14. Saw the band at Wembley Arena last time you played there.

Today’s music infests the brain. These classics truly permeate the soul. For anyone seeking the answers to life’s questions, as we knew them so many years ago, seek out the masters of rock, from the 1940s through today. Many have gone, but thank God we live in a time when their voices can still echo through the canyons of our souls and turn on every lost memory along the way. Thanx, Don! Well done…
