All those saws are sooo sweet! Son in law picked up a Pro mac 10-10 for me where he lives, as a parts saw, for $20. He tried starting it, but when I got there, I flipped the switch the right direction. She fired, 1st pull! And cleaned up to an 8 or 9. Woo Hoo!

Love the mac content! That's how l first came across this community. I got a 10-10A starter on the clutch side. I rebuilt it and 19 year old me thought it wise to cut out the bridge between the exhaust holes in the cylinder. I didn't even make it to wood before it snagged a ring. 😭 But the surprising thing it still ran. So it is in pieces waiting to get rebuilt. Got a used cylinder that might work, but l want to get it re-plated/recoated before l use it.(l have spent way to much on this saw for it to be shelf ornament🤣🤣🤣!) Or l need to find a NOS cylinder. Its been close to 2 years now, and l cant wait to get it put together and bury it in some wood!! Looking forward to tomorrows video!

Back in the days of Blue Homelites and Yellow Macs every farm i ever worked on here in NZ had a Chainsaw and Firewood was a young fellers chore. In the 1970s Homelite were big here. Bloody good strong saws which were a bit picky about running when it was wet. The old points system hey. But boy you could dig them into a log and could those things cut! Love the content Buckin. I can smell the old 25 to 1 mix from here.

Looking forward to the tuning video. I’ve always left my saws stock, but recently bought one of those Neotechs just to see and they come really fat on the high end, so I’ve been tweaking it a little in on the hi jet each time. Thanks to your buddy the Tinman for helping me make sense of carbs. Powersaws have always just been another tool among the many I’ve used in my life’ and it’s not one I use to make a living so I’m only just now trying to sort it out some more. Thanks

Buckin' Ive noticed how consistently you have smoked most of the newer "state of the art" fancy pants saws almost everytime with saws 20 or more years older than yours. Yes, the old macs are some beasts but I think your filing and your tuning are the x-factor. Im a rookie but I see other power saw people doing comparisons between 800$ saws and claim one is better because it is ported or has muff mods. New chain this, new chain that out the box which is always sharp but if its not sharp in the right way, for the right wood, its like putting mud tires on a Ferrari. Which of course is going to wear it out faster than usual. My little 25 cc top handle saw whipped my 50 cc saws after i got it filed right. It was a valuable lesson.

My chainsaw piston looks like someone took a fill to it by the exhaust. I was trying to mill some post out of a leaning dry white pine. I don't think my Chinese saw had enough rpm's and was on 68cc. The white pine was already leaning caught in other trees when I bought property. It is one of the biggest trees on property. I don't want to see it go to waste. I did drop it on logs to keep it off the ground. And the size and area it's in means I need to mill it there. I used a 2x6 as a guide. Got 8 feet of a live slab before chainsaw ran out of gas. Put more gas in took a break. Came back and it ran till it wouldn't. Basically using a 150 for a super duty job.

Except for some real high compression cookie cutter saws, 2 strokes dont usually have to worry about spark knock. 90-91 is fine. 87 would probably be fine if you could find it in ETHANOL FREE. But most ethanol free "rec" gas is usually at least 90.

Not trying to get in your business sir. It depends on the size of your stove or fireplace. For me I cut my logs at exactly 15". I can cut them a bit longer but it's tricky to get them in the door. I do cut them at around 20 for a friend but his stove is a lot bigger than mine. Just find a split piece and measure. Hope that helps, sir and good bucking.
