Jeeps are great for the purpose for which they are built. The only problem I have with them is how over-inflated their costs have gotten. It's ridiculous.

True Minimalist I love mine. But for the same price I could of gotten a used newer Porsche. But a Porsche can't climb mountains or tow a small trailer or carry a fair amount of cargo. It's all in what you want I guess. If you want a cheap off-roader. Look at older jeeps, toyotas and so on. Even new toyotas are insanely priced.

So look at it like this, over inflated yes I agree. However, they hold their value like no other American made car Period. they are an investment. I bout a 2012 4 door JK for 28,000 I traded for a 2017 ruby I got 20 k for my vehicle with 109 k on mileage so the cost for my new jeep is significantly reduced. so inflated yes but its bad ass.

My dad has been a truck driver since the 80s so when it comes to buying cars I ask my dad since he sees which cars are unreliable (depending on how many times he has to tow certain makes and models). I asked him about jeep wranglers and he says he almost never has to tow one or ever get called to pick one up. according to him they are pretty good. he has a huge sample size and has no bias lol.

I had a 2008 JK. For the 11 years I owned it, I loved it! The AC/heat work flawlessly. Not much road noise and I ran 32x12.5 Dick Cepek, Mud Country tires. Wife didn't like the cozy quarters of the JK so, she didn't ride with me much. :) I'd sell my current F250 if, the new Commander, could pull my camper. To the Jeep haters, It's a Jeep thing, you wouldn't understand!

I drove Jeeps for 6 years and really enjoy the versatility of the Jeep. My first was a ‘12 JK & now a ‘17 JKU. Been my daily driver and has been very reliable. The 3.6 has lots of power for a Jk or JKU. It’s not a sports car and not built for a comfortable ride. It’s a Jeep. I bought it because it’s a great ride year round. Top down in the summer or running snowy roads in the winter. We get both in WV. Basically people don’t buy them for speed, comfort, or gas mileage. They buy it for the versatility & best off road vehicle (or on road) on the market.

I have a 2007 JK - and this is the MOST reliable vehicle I've owned so far. I use it on and offroad in stock condition. With regular oil changes, tires, and brakes I have had ZERO maintenance issues and just crossed 120k miles this past weekend. If you want an American classic for offroad use and onroad style, buy in! JEEP IS GOLD. Resale is always high, they retain value forever, so you can always get some money out and upgrade to a newer model with additional investment. Plus, for hobbyists, they endless accessory stream for Wranglers is a natural. The JEEP is customizable as both a daily driver and an offroad monster.

Cameron Gill one of the easiest vehicles to work on. Took me less then 30 minutes to change my radiator, it's been one of the most reliable vehicles I've owned. I've driven my little Jeep all over the US with never a problem, they really are bullet proof if you take care of them. I like how simplistic they are, I've got an 04 LJ with manual windows and door locks, electrical issues are non existent.

2013 JK owner here, problems I have... 1-Replaced starter twice at 40k miles. Second starter was cheap AutoZone so it failed right away. 2-electronic sway bar disconnect stopped working. Water got inside it. Replaced it with anti rock. Much happier with the Anti Rock. 3- windshield wipers turn on randomly. Can't figure out why but I have reason to believe the electrical system isn't that great. As far as comfort and refinement I love the JK. Seats on the Rubicon are so soft. On my 2017 RAM my ass hurts from sitting too muc long. My Jk has a basic Bluetooth and honestly that's all the amenities I need to be refined

Juan Uribe you have a loose ground. Probably on the passenger side of the engine bay, about halfway between air cleaner and the battery. Might not be that one but I think it is. Tighten it down and check your other grounding points as well. Stiff suspension can cause these to loosen.

Just bought a 2014 Wrangler Sahara 2 door this year. It was lifted by the previous owner but I replaced the 35" mud terrain tires with stock sized all terrains and it drives so much nicer. I didn't buy it for a comfy ride and fancy interior, I bought it because it is like a truck and the interior is basic and the seats are comfy, no clue why people complain about them. I am 6'2" tall and weigh 280 pounds and I fit in it comfortably. I also like that the back seat can simply be removed.

2008 #DDWranger with over 170,000 miles. No reliability issues other than what I would consider typical wear and tear. Definitely not the most refined vehicle to drive but I LOVE being able to drop the top during the summer and drive through blizzards during the winter on my long daily commute. Not gonna lie and say it is a perfect vehicle though. Defrost and windshield washer cover the middle of the windshield but don't get the driver side particularly well. Consumes oil so it needs to be topped off periodically. Door hinges corrode causing the doors to stick, paint to peel and water streaks below. Not sure if these issues have been fixed in newer models. Hopefully when the next Wrangler redesign happens things like this will not be an issue.

www.jdpower.com/cars/jeep/wrangler/2012 Ive been looking at different models including the tiguan and on the number of vehicles sold its more likele that some ended up with lemons, but was looking at toyotas andyou really need to try hard to find people complaining about engines. I love the concept of the jeep, the looks, but does it need to have such a cheap interior at that price? Dont get me wrong, im all for simplicity and utility, but it could be very high quality and still very simple and rugged. But I know jeeps fans will be offended by this comment but it just seems like a large part of the price is related to the branding and image more than bulletproof reliability which is not to say that many customers might have trouble free jeeps. Just seems like they are charging premium for basics.

I've owned forty motor vehicles since the '70s, typically several at a time. My '13 Wrangler 6MT 2 dr hardtop is the first Jeep I've owned and it's easily in my top five favorite vehicles out of the forty. I've taken it on hiking and camping trips all over the West and it's my go-to daily driver (I don't have to commute for work). It's had zero problems so far in 56k miles. It's unlifted with 285/70R17 (33") BFG AT/TA's, which is a great combo for driving either on or off road up to and including sustained freeway speeds, and the 6MT makes it fun to drive. It's the perfect combo for what I use it for, which is mostly on road but with some hilly, sandy trails with occasional wash-outs thrown in.

I've owned an 1988, 1992, 2002 and now a 2012 Wrangler and driven them all as my daily driver. Total mileage around 300,000. This started in Ohio and now happens in New Mexico. The only time I have been without my Jeep in almost 30 years due to Maintenance issues was when I blew the engine crossing a deep section of a stream without a snorkel during a flood,. I stupidly tried to move too fast and pushed water into the intake.... The jeep would have done fine if I had had better 4-wheel driving skills. If yo want a Corolla, buy a Corolla. If you want to have fun in an amazing ride that will take you (almost) anywhere , buy a Jeep! I'm planning to buy another in 2022!

Just one more thing. No matter what you own even if you have never had a problem with yours. Someone else has had a problem with the same make and model. Everything can be beat down and bad mouthed. I believe that if you treat your vehicles like it were a woman. Meaning take care of it and dont neglect it, it will serve you well. I'm no spring chicken. I bought a new 72 Toyota Land Cruiser in 1972. They gave me crap about buying it and said it would never last. Well it served me well until a couple of years ago when some guy offered me 15 times what I paid for it new. Take care of your stuff and they will last. Now if some guy would offer me 15 times what I have put into the wife she would be gone too.

I take real good care of mine. I repair/replace between fill-ups, and leave it parked in the garage when it's not in the shop. I always admired others for keeping their little treasure parked most of the time and realized only after I bought my own that you cannot drive them because of death-wobble, from overheated brakes to worn axles to a number of things, and gets maybe 13 mpg if even running. I have other vehicles to drive so JK can rest there in the garage till I find someone stupid enough to pay it off for me.

One of the best selling SUVS, actually top 10 to be precise, this vehicle is so customizable, to the point you can litterally put your own spin and personality into it, reliability it owns it, that's why people have made "The Jk", jeep life almost like a religion and lifestyle, I mean look up JK Experience for a good example, The Wrangler is, simplistic at its natural core but, that allows for so much more than you realize, like feeling like your apart of the environment your driving in, whether it's out on the sandy beaches, rock crawling in the Rockies or mud bogging in the south east, JEEP or JEEPING is a way of life and a lifestyle all together, those who own these vehicles enjoy them more than most vehicles on the road, it's just a Jeep thing and only jeep owners will ever understand that.

#DDW love my jeep. They are great... as long as you know what you are buying. For example, one wouldnt buy a honda accord and be upset that it doesnt tow well, or a 2 door truck and be upset that the small space in the back wont fit a kids seat. I think jeep people understand the jeep. The saying "its a jeep thing, you wouldnt understand" is very true

I don't know what you're talking about. I had an 04 EX coupe 5 speed and it towed a 4000lb firebird 5 miles without a complaint. Some of the trip was uphill too! That car could handle just about anything as long as I didn't slide it into a curb in the snow (or three). I spent a lot of time replacing control arms on that slippery car...

Stefan Bacon surely you understand the basic idea of what I'm saying, the base concept. That being, no real suprises when you buy a jeep. Obviously you can do many things vehicles weren't intended for, but they (vehicle x) are far from ideal for odd and end circumstances that they clearly weren't made for. Sure you can tow in your prius, but you will see more wear , more poor performance

themighty9mm #DDW about to hit 200k on my 2010. Parents own a 3rd gen cattle ranch, I duck hunt, I'm Offroad in some nasty places a lot. I have 35' and only a 2.5' AEV lift and the only drawback is the tire noise but I need those nitto grapplers. I have a hard top hoist in my garage and can be topless in literally 5 minutes. The only thing major I had to do was change out the gears when going above a 33' tire but that's not mandatory. I've never had any major mechanical issues since I've owned my Jeep besides standard wear and tear.

kingmike40 yeah no kidding. The more I see sophisticated setups the more I dread having to fix it if it breaks, especially because I’m a heavy equipment mechanic so brand new tractor trailer trucks and loaders and whatnot with such high tech setups (pitch, yaw, latitude and longitude setups on a new loader. I’ve NEVER heard of it until we bought a new one) are a nightmare because they never include enough documentation to troubleshoot an issue because it’s computer controlled 99% of the time

Well, I have a 2017 JK very basic model and I love it. My principal vehicle is a Dodge RAM 1500 Longhorn so the contrast in equipment and comfort is night and day. I have used the Jeep to commute to the city a good 110km each way. Yes it is basic, but that is one of the reasons I love it. My wife hates it, which is quite funny actually as she once had a convertible Mini which is not exactly comfort driving!! I have hesitated to do upgrades because I like the base look but watching your channel I would like to change the front bumper to one like your grey JK, with the fog lights and winch. The two major upgrades I have done....I installed a new Alpine sound system with a touch screen and Apple Carplay which was a real game changer; secondly, I bought a hard top in a scrap yard and installed it. The latter was quite a challenge. One of the downsides of driving the Jeep in the winter on crazy Montreal area winter roads, was the soft top. The windows were always filthy and difficult to clean without scratching the plastic, they were actually a danger. So I found a nice hard top for $1700 Cdn but I wrongly assumed that the wiring and wiper kit would be installed in all Jeeps so facilitate this upgrade. It took a Jeep dealer 13 hours to install the kit, they had to remove the steering wheel and dash to get it done, big job. The hard top has solved all the issues I had with winter driving and I am even more attached to the vehicle now. So thinking about new bumper, wheels/tires and small lift to make it mine. I am keeping the step rails despite the fact that purists hate them, they are great in parking lots when people want to ding your doors!! I wish I had AC but that was a crazy project to undertake so I gave up on it. Would have been more economical to just trade it in for one that had that option. All summer no doors and no roof for me, love it. I take the back seat out and put my dogs in the back with car leashes attached to the seat anchors, they love it too! My wife is a work in progress with respect to the Jeep, but on a hot summer day with the roof and doors off....she won’t say it, but I know she likes it. Things that would really improve the design of this vehicle as a daily driver would include an all wheel drive option, this would make it safer and more practical on winter roads at speed. Better/more storage could easily be incorporated and that would add value as well. Maybe I will drive it Colorado and have you guys do my upgrades for me after this pandemic is over, make a video on the “Upgrade of the Canadian JK the Wife Hates!”, that might be fun viewing!! Might be a nice way to get rid of the cabin fever that is setting in all over. I live in a small town near the Vermont border in a region of Quebec that has become the epicenter of the pandemic here because snowbirds coming back from Florida refused to self isolate as required. So locked up and safe, but dreaming Jeeps!! Stay healthy and keep doing these great videos.

I have the first jk, a 2007 3.8. It still looks great, has been as reliable as the sunrise and has nearly 220,000 km on it. I live at the end of a very rough dirt road - so it is no mall crawler either. Simple to fix, reliable, comfortable and an off road weapon.

As an 2010 JKU owner that I bought new I can say this: Pros, even in stock non rubicon form it is a highly off-road capable vehicle and minor modifications will vastly improve on that capability and still remain with a reasonable ride comfort. Good aftermarket mod parts support by now allowing to customize/personalize your Jeep to give it a unique look. It can take a beating and until now it never left me stranded or had to get towed. Now to the cons, brand new a steering column selector switch didn't work and needed replacement, an aerodynamic brick with poor gas milage, auto transmission (4 speed RLE42) overheating at around 10K during a milk-run off-road tour in the mountains, it didn't burn down but it likely caused damage to the transmission shortening its life span, various water leaks on either soft-top or hard top, several annoying squeaks and rattles early on but @30k Jeep got slightly lifted (2.5") and 35" Toyo Open Country MTs installed so the squeaks and rattles are of no importance from then on. Also added and additional trans fluid cooler to combat transmission overheating which keeps reoccurring. At 45K Power steering pump shaft seal leak just out of warranty requiring new pump. Water pump shaft seal leaks and replacement at about 50 and 100K . Clock-spring failure at around 80K with no warranty here. Transmission shift solenoid failure with limp mode and 2-4 clutch burned at 120K requiring transmission rebuild (damage from early overheating?!), three occasions i do not remember at which mileage they happened where the CanBus freaked out with instrument cluster going nuts and not allowing the trans to shift into drive. Battery disconnect and reconnect fixed that issue but that could have left an tech unsavy person stranded. Other things where I cannot really blame Chrysler/Jeep component quality for are bend tie rod and track bar, smashed steering stabilizer (not needed anyways), death wobble due to worn bushings on aftermarket trackbar, Front driveshaft CV Joint boot failure, Valve failure on charcoal canister after the jeeps ass end was submerged in water for 10 minutes until I winched out of it and other off-road related battle scars that just add character. I love my JKU despite the issues it had but I'm certainly not on good terms with Chrysler especially on the early transmission failure.

Damn, I have 150 k on my '08 and have only done clockspring under warranty, the ECM went crazy at 50k, The radiator at 130k, I had death wobble at about 30k probably because of lift kit, but fixed with heavy duty track bar. Mine is a manual, and still has original clutch and brake pads believe it or not ... I never skip any service, and always change fluids immediately after deep water crossing....but overall I would say the JK is a darn reliable rig.

#ddwrangler ....and 4" lift on 37's...people who bash wrangler have a complete bias because they don't understand the separation of "built for to go to the grocery store" and "built to climb Imogene Pass" etc. A Wrangler is not a Tahoe, Expedition, Rav4, or whatever else they drive mostly. It stands alone in a single class that at the moment has no other vehicles to compare to in the US market. #geauxwheelin

The only true issue I have had with it was the cracked head (casting manufacturing defect for this year model), but replace that and you're good to go for around $1,000. I fully expect this thing to roll over the 300k mark no problem.

My ZJ was super reliable. I got rid of it when it was 15 years old and had 165k miles, and up till that time it had never let me down. Zero engine or transmission problems, only issues were suspension and steering related due to the lift kit I put on it. Only reason I got rid of it was the damn rust (thanks New England!). The thing still ran perfect.

I am the proud owner of a 2018 f250xlt, my wife owns a 2018 jk unlimited. It’s a chief blue model, loaded. It’s her daily driver, and she loves it. I must admit, I also love it. It puts a smile on my face, every time I get the chance to drive it. I think it’s better in city driving than it gets credit for. My wife is 5’0 tall, she loves it for shopping, she finds it easy to park, due to how well she can see. We are Canadian, my wife looks forward to snow now. That is where this vehicle shines brightest, bad road conditions. I have more confidence in that 4door Jeep, than in my f250, or my Bobcat, in a snowstorm. I push snow for part of my living, I am a decent driver, in an emergency it’s the wrangler for me. Love the channel guys!

My wife has a 2015 Sport S and it is her #DDWrangler. And I drive it as much as I can... The only time I was kinda uncomfortable was when we drove from Illinois to Florida and had an 18 hour drive day. The only problem we have had has been with the radiator leaking which I've heard is a design flaw, but as soon as the warranty is up an all aluminum radiator will fix that. I feel the only people that complain about Wranglers, are people that got them for the status and not because they actually wanted a Wrangler. To them I usually say get a Cherokee, or Renegade, if you can't get a Grand Cherokee.

I had a 2014 jk , had awesome time with that car. Saying that I lost my jk in 1 hell of river crossing . I used the winch to recover but water was inside the engine already. Probably was my own fault . The water some how got in from exhaust . Never mind, the car was making a huge noise after across and didn’t left me down. I drove about 150km until get safely home. Never forgot that . I’m still considering a very nice car . And I’m looking for buying the 2019 model here in Australia. Cars are not perfect, machines will break eventually. Problem is people think that they are perfect drivers out there. And it’s hard to admit their own mistakes. I have no problem to say that I forgot to keep up the RPM . Simple mistake , insurance help me a lot . Be safe everyone , and keep up with 4x4 . It’s a good family time . Cheers 🍻

There's been reported cases of badly sealed engines on the Wrangler. Don't say it was that, the water shouldn't be able to get in from the engine as long as it's running. And I don't really understand why you didn't repair a 5 years car just because of engine issues... it still had a lot of years in front of it.

Had my 3.6 JK for 4 years now and have loved every minute - except the cost of keeping it on the going . Spent several thousand dollars on finding a recurring “sensor fault” (Engine warning light / ESP light and going into limp mode when driving over a small bump in the road), replacing numerous rockers (failed needle bearings) and several other “electrical faults. It never left me stranded, so I wouldn’t say unreliable - just expensive to keep going. I have no intentions of buying anything else (except maybe a CJ with no sensors, no computers and a basic engine that doesn’t need a computerised workshop to service it).

It's a bit bumpy, but it's not horrible, the YJs were bumpy AF. I'll say this, it's one of the easier vehicles to park, not too many spots it won't fit. My hesitation with the newer jeeps is the V6. At first I thought they were ugly, but they've grown on me. The last thing I'd think about the newer Wranglers is unsophisticated, I think the complete opposite, they're getting too sophisticated. #DDWrangler

I had one of those Jeeps for almost two weeks as a loaner. It was 4 door hardtop w/ 3.6L engine & an automatic transmission. I think it was a Sahara. It was actually brand new w/ less than 500 miles on the odometer. I strictly drove it city & highway miles & put something like approx 400 to 600 miles on it (I don't remember my exact mileage). I dared not take it off road for fear of putting a scratch on it. I really enjoyed it & took extra trips just for the fun of driving it. I thought the handling & road manners were very refined for being a "truck". Also I was really impressed w/ the interior appointments & level of refinement. It had been decades since I had been in a Jeep. I was impressed w/ the vehicle overall. My regular vehicle is a late model 4 door sedan w/ independent suspension. So naturally I could tell a difference between my independent suspension sedan versus the solid axle Jeep. However as stated earlier, I was really impressed w/ the Jeeps quality of ride. (edit) I forgot to mention. The window sticker was in the glove box & I believe the MSRP was approx $38,000.

Here's the thing about a Jeep... It has pretty damn great acceleration for a vehicle that can go where this thing ACTUALLY goes. On road performance is blah, but with the available aftermarket parts, even that can be fixed.... You want 0 - 60 in under 5 seconds, the aftermarket will help you put a HEMI or an LSX in it. You want soft ride? Aftermarket has you covered. You want cornering like it's on rails... um... It can go offroad!

We bought a JK the first yr they came out and we still have it. Only problem we've had is a short in a wiring harness. Dealer took care of it and that's it. 170k miles ten yrs later. Not much else needs to be said.

Elevated idk what 3.8 you’ve owned but there’s tons of them well up over 200k miles now, gutless they may be but as far as reliability they’re extremely reliable engines.

The 3.8 was a horrible engine. It was build off the Chrysler mini van pool of engines. If it was so great they wouldn't have replaced them so quickly. 4 years and done.

Yep. My next vehicle is probably gonna be a 2 door Rubicon. Maybe I'll get rid of one of the Jags? I'll still keep my modified 2015 GC Overland EcoDiesel, because my wife likes it to travel throughout Michigan's Upper Peninsula in it off-roading to remote Lake Superior beaches, and I use it for deer hunting. And I'll also keep the old 2014 Chevy Tahoe Z71 4x4 (my wife still hauls her metal sculptures in it). But, damn! That 2 door Jeep is a blast! One of my buddies had an old TJ with a Chevy 350 in it and what a blast that was!

I have an '09 JK-X Willys that I picked up in 2019. It was pretty much garage kept besides the owner driving it around his farm, but he added some matte black Pro Comp 89s, a 2 inch puck lift and a Rugged Ridge winch, and front bumper. About a month or two after I got it, I and my best friend, who is co-owner of a 4x4 shop in CLT, tore off the bulky fender flares and step bars and swapped them for some tube step rails and narrow MCE flat fenders, and I damn near immediately bumped up to 35" Mastercraft Courser MXTs. Then, we ditched the pucks and he had a take-off 2.5" Pro Comp lift front a 4 door JK that we installed, which actually sat the Jeep at around 3.5" of lift. Next, i did away with the rear bumper and opted for the Fishbone rear bumper delete kit, for a bit cooler look, and we called it done for a while, besides some grab handles. The next upgrade was a couple years ago, which was the Rock Krawler hi-clearance front LCA's and sway bar quick disconnects. Just recently, we decided to throw more parts at it to "finish it" off, which is mostly due to wear and tear, believe it or not, mostly from going to job sites I work at and back home. Those included 37" Mickey Thompson Baja Boss ATs, since my MXTs were well worn out from 3 years of use; an Adams front driveshaft; RK sway bar quick disconnects, 1-ton steering, front axle sleeves and truss, 4.88 gears, some gaskets needed to be replaced, along with a new Smittybilt bowless/frame less top; new header, since mine had cracked, Bilstein 5100 shocks to replace mu busted ones and a few more upgrades that I'm probably forgetting. I don't get to play with the Jeep much, but once we finish up my current list, that will definitely change and I'll get to see what it can really do. I have taken it to a few local parks and done almost all of Uwharrie's trails, but it's been a long process and I wouldn't do it any different

My 2012 jk Rubicon is a blast to drive. It is lifted 3.5 inches, Procomp mt2 35" tires and Procomp Helldorado 17" wheels with a poisen spyder tire carrier and rear bumper. The jeep is beautiful and I smile thinking about it, driving it and exiting it. It is so cool. Off road it's amazing. On road a blast. I could not be happier driving something else. Have a great day.

I have a 2015 JKU Rubicon hard top, and yes I notice some road noise, but compared to my 2 door the ride is relatively smooth. But most importantly, I've yet to be slightly concerned about getting stuck with just a small amount of consideration of what I'm driving thru. Very reliable imho. And as far as stock 4x4s go is pretty comfy.

#dailydrivingwrangler Just had to get rid of my 05 jeep wrangler x :( (260,000 miles- drove it 140 miles round trip to work and back) Traded it in for a 2016 Wrangler Sport. The dealership put a package on it, so its got a high suspension, oversized tires.... The ride seems smoother then my 05. Its just so dam fun to drive that if it is uncomfortable I dont notice it.

My jk unlimited 09 is now 10 years old and I have never had to do more than a standard service I have had absolutely zero breakdowns. it's never been garaged I use it on my farm all the time to tow trailer loads of Wood and move logs and livestock. I also use it as my daily driver for my on the road job as a computer technician. Driving it still makes me smile especially during summer when I get to take the top off.

I know this is several years old (it popped up in my suggested play list today).. I daily drive a 2012 JKU 6sp manual 3inch Teraflex and 35's . It is by far more comfortable that my 1993 YJ that I had many years ago. It rides about the same as my wife's 2020 Kia Rio but is a LOT safer and more fun to drive. It starts every time I turn the key too!
