"Welcome to the Real world.. " (matrix quote) Fellow leccy bike owner here, ex-demo Zero srs for 18 months and 16k miles. I'll also be doing a long term owner's review on my channel soon as there's too many test pilots who give a conclusion after a few days. You're only the second youtuber, next to me that I know of who actually went on to buy one. Getting the Eva ribelle rs next week on trial for the week so will be interesting as I'm not sure about going back to chain drive after my belt. Subbed to you, looking forward to your content. Russ

Excellent, cheers for the sub, I'll make sure I get on over and sub to your channel as well! I'll be interested to see how your experience has been given that you are further down the line than I am. Funnily enough, it was the chain drive that was part of my decision making process for buying the Eva, I wasn't sure about making the leap to a belt, but I'm prepared to be convinced the other way. I wonder what Ducati will use for their Moto E offering next year. Anyway, cheers for making contact, I'm sure we'll be seeing more of each other!👍

Good choice I will be looking into it! I ordered the metacycle in December. The website said 100 deposit but they billed my card $5000. I cancelled my order and I have been trying to get my money back ever since. Today they sent me an email asking if I would like to reinstate my order. I guess they think I might rather have the bike than nothing. They are wrong. I know how they treat customers if something fails guaranteed you are left in the cold. These people do not care about their customers at all. I'll sue to get my money back. Better than trying to sue if I get a lemon. I may wait just a bit more before looking for another bike

Really good video, well balanced. As a ZERO S owner I can confirm the insurance cost of a electric motorbike is daft. On the positive side my commute is 50 miles per day in heavy traffic through west London, so the ZERO saves me approx £1500 per year vs cost of fuel on a petrol bike. As a commuter, electric makes so much sense - no clutch, gear change just twist and go. Looking forward to seeing more videos of the Energica. Be prepared to get asked "what's range" as the first question everyone asks. Enjoy the bike (I know you will!)

Looking forward to seeing some practical tests and real world riding.

I was an electric sceptic myself for a long time to be honest, but they have improved so much that I thought I'd give them a go and I have to say, although they are a different beast in many ways, they are impressive and just as much fun as ICE bikes, albeit in a slightly different way. I hope I can get this across in my videos, time will tell! Cheers for watching though👍. And yes, I have to admit that watching those two beauties go was a huge wrench and then to be rewarded with the highest insurance premium I have ever even heard of was an unwelcome kick in the teeth🤣🤣🤣. Hi, I enjoyed watching your video and found it very interesting. I bought my Ribelle last year (also used) and have now driven more than 10,000 km. I really enjoy not having to worry about engine speed or gear any more. I'm also over 50 and, in contrast to my last bike (Yamaha R1), I find riding very relaxed. I had exactly the opposite experience with insurance in Germany. I got very cheap insurance. It's about a third the price of the R1. I look forward to more videos about your Ribelle. Many greetings from Germany. Andrew I'm meeting up with a few friends and we're going on a little weekend tour to Sauerland (a region with a few nice curves not far away).

My friend called me on tue 18th October 2022 as he wanted my advice on buying one it was the zero-sr-f he said the dealer would sell it to him for £21,500 with 100 miles on the clock he said he was impressed when he took it out for a test ride and he was impressed with the look of it . I told him don't buy it as apprance can be deciving and the bike is deciving its to much money, its not a big market in the uk so insurance will be sky hight I told him to never buy one because these electric motorbikes are fairly new and they will accure a lot of mechanical problems and the charging point are not every where in the uk and the prices from have gone up and they won't hold the charger for long they are not designed to do long distances riding , service charge will be way to high and in order for these electrical motor bikes to take off they need spend at least another 5-10 years making sure they are reliable and drop the price down dramatically. I have a benelli trk 502 adventure turing bike 2021-2022, euro 5, 250 on a full tank two build in catalyst converters build in its not overly loud I have over taken 4 cars at 70 mph with ease I've had it over one year its never let me down. Its very comfortable I've ridern it All round the southeast cost All brand new motorcycle insurance are going to be high eventhogh I've been riding motorcycle for 30 years however I took my No claims bouns of my suzuki bandit and put it on my new bike and the insurance fully comp came to £400 per year I saved an extra £400. This year renaving my bike insurance came to £350. But these new electric motorcycle are a NO NO they are not worth the money nor the risk.

Chopping 2 loved IC bikes in for 1 electric? I think that perfectly summarises what you thought of the Energica. On the insurance front, it’s a £25K (?) bike, that probably has more to do with the high premium than the fact that it’s electric. Anyway, looking forward to the updates 👍

@TheBoltHoleBiker2 жыл бұрын
I think it is because they are relatively new and insurers, being risk averse by nature, just haven't yet worked out how to deal with them. I'm pretty sure the prices will become more sensible fairly quickly, as the bikes become more common, but at the moment it is a bit of a stinger! I haven't ever had an electric car, but I would imagine the situation was the same when they were new.

Electric motorcycles are $h1t. However, I would very much like to have a hybrid electric-ICE bike, and would even be happy to have a bike of lesser power if it is a hybrid. My priority is economics, and getting from A to B. I'm interested in practical transportation solutions, not being a weekend warrior with overpriced plastic prone to computer failure, as most motorcyclists in the UK seem to be.
@TheBoltHoleBiker2 жыл бұрын
I'm with you on the economics and bikes needing to be practical transport, but I do like the electronic creature comforts and mine haven't ever failed yet🤞. As far as electric bikes being $h1t though, try getting on an Energica and winding the throttle right back and you might change your mind about them. They are definitely different to ICE bikes, but still awesome in their own way!👍
@TheErsatzMode2 жыл бұрын
@@TheBoltHoleBiker, my opinion on current electric bikes is primarily based on their pathetic ranges, and the length of time required to recharge the batteries. Because of these two things, they are not practical. Also, I am yet to see a decent dual-purpose electric bike (ICE versions are rare enough these days), and I wouldn't consider a road-only bike (they are too vulnerable, and of course not good where the tarmac ends). Further to this is the fire-explosion risk associated with the batteries in EVs. And as to computer failure, my bike was recently off the road for some nine months due to an immobiliser fault that shut the entire ECU down, and with it the entire bike. The lack of manufacturer support was utterly lamentable, and the ECU coding was not available so it couldn't be re-programmed (without spending £thousands on an expert). I want a simple bike, and reliability/reparability should be top priority, but it's not in this age of the weekend warrior. I'd love to have a hybrid ICE-electric dual-purpose bike that has an ECU to maximise efficiency, but also a distributer and reserve carb just in case the ECU, or associated component, fails. Imagine being alone in the middle of a desert 1000-miles from civilisation on any bike currently manufactured. Would you feel any sense of security, or confidence that you could ride home?
