Can you do a video about how you turned your helios 44 into a ''cine lens'' ? I mean the focus rings, the lens hood etc. I mean like 1:07, not the rehousing you made in the other video

@@kaneda8625 The whole cine mod is added by IronGlass as well, you can get the helios just like that on their website. The anamorfake mod is just optional:)

I love how certain people complain about everything. Even small creative hacks on an otherwise super cheap lens that looks great. If you don't like it, just move on to another video. Go buy a set of Panavisions, Cookes, Tokinas or whatever. Even those will not make up for your lack of creativity.

@@MortyFilms Yea, I mean. There is this misconception that if it's not expensive as f***k you can't really do it, or you can't call yourself a pro. The cameras we have today have insane DR, functionality and give these lenses a new purpose. We have so much power in our everyday tools that we dismiss these objects because they can be obtained at a fraction of the cost of 'high-end'. The same pattern I have seen in audio for 20 years. Ridiculous. I say get on Etsy and buy 44-2 and 44M-4 until they are all gone because they found a new home! They are great. Look like silk, will give you that Helios look you can use when the moment calls for it. Take care of them and enjoy the experience. You can give them a new purpose. They are story-telling tools.

I feel it always depends on what you’re going for. If the goal is to get an “anamorphic look” or intercut it with shots from anamorphic lenses I think this is a pretty effective way. But I see your point in that it reduces the light that comes onto your sensor.

@@MortyFilms reduces the light is a major thing and as you mentioned, makes many of the stops have strange shaped bokeh. The main part of an anamorphic look is the desqueeze into a wider frame. That should be step 1. The rest are minor, would come with step 1 anyway, and can be achieved with less permanent mods if desired. One day, someone with more money than sense will do that to a set of ziesses if it has not happened already.

This budget anamorphic fad is utterly ridiculous. One guy is on film alliance is talking it up, shooting anamorphic on his FX30 at 16:9 THEN cropping in…. WHY????! Just a giant circle jerk for a few blue flares and oval bokeh.
