Thanks for the great video, I'm using S22 Ultra (SD 8 Gen 1). When it comes to gaming, this thing heats up and when juicing up with 45w charger (without using it) it often chooses the slower charge option which take forever to charge. I do miss my old Oneplus 7 Pro where it still charges so dang fast even if you're playing while charging. Now, to upgrade from the S22 Ultra, seems like ROG 6 Pro is the way to go... unfortunately.

It has an 8 (Plus) Gen 1. The difference between the 8Gen1 and (Plus) version is substantial. For one the (Plus) is made at TSMC. Compared to Samsungs inferior node. 2nd is a 10-15% performance boost along with 10°c lower Temps. TSMC is why I stuck with the Note20 Ultra which used the TSMC made SD865+. The OG SD865 is also made by TSMC but Qualcomm quickly jumped ship from the Samsung made 8Gen1 to TSMC for the 8+Gen1. The main reason, MediaTeks D9000 (which was made by TSMC) performed better in Temps and CPU/GPU tests and games. So, of course they couldn't have that. They had TSMC fab up the 8plusGen1. That's also the reason ASUS waited to launch the ROG Phone 6.

I kinda feel like you said so much and nothing at all. I'd say the biggest issue with Asus ROG phones is the software. Is a buggy mess. There are random glitches, crashes, and broken features. When they fix certain bugs it breaks others. I owned a couple of ROG phones but ultimately went back to Samsung (before ROG I had an S7 edge) and bought an S22 Ultra. To be honest is so much more phone for the money. I know it does not have the cooling or the shoulder buttons that the ROG has but you can buy adapters on ebay if you really needed them. The camera is leaps and bounds better than the ROG's as well as a WAY more polished software. Also add the radios on the ROG devices dont support many carriers and the phone is not that common so finding cases and screen protectors is pretty limited. Lasty the water resistance rating is hit or miss wich is mainly why I switched. You can dunk an S22 Ultra on a pool and it will be fine, not so much with ROG phones. Dont get me wrong I love ROG phones but there way too many compromises to "daily drive" them over anything more mainstream like an Iphone or a Samsung. You really have to go against the grain to use one everyday. Keep in mind I compare it to the S22 Ultra because these phones are expensive and it only makes sense to compare to other flagships. Hope this helped.

hard doubt. I hold both the rog3 and 5 and they are my best phones till date for the price and comes with superior audio, display and 3day lasting battery. I still get updates on rog3 with 0 crashes. A strong processor that doesn't throttle so much, looking at you 8 gen 1. (Must beSnapdragon 8+ gen 1, maybe tensor 2 if it improves) 3. A good camera 4. A good battery that can last for a day 5. Fast charging of at least 40 mins to 100% 6. 120 hz refresh rate screen Is that too much to ask? Issues for flagship phones Samsung S22 ultra: 2, 4 and 5 Xiaomi 12S Ultra: 1 Vivo x80 pro: 1, 2 Oneplus 10 pro: 2, 3 Google(as of Tensor 1) Pixel 6 pro: 2*,4, and 5 iQOO: 1, 2, 3 Motorolla: 1, 2, 3, 5 Asus ROG Phone 6: 1, 3 So from this, at least right now, Xiaomi seems to be the nearest to my ideal phone but its not only available in China. Yea, the kicker is that despite the prices, phones are basically made to be swapped out yearly at this point. Ask most of your friends and see how many outright own their phone or if its just leased through the carrier and they are paying monthly for it. Because of that your not going to be able to hit all 6 points on pretty much any phone out there anymore since the manufacturer wants you to just upgrade to their latest model.

Comparing it to any phone with SD 8 Gen 1 is just bad. The reason is because the newer model by TSMC is WAY more power efficient and in certain tests can boost up to 30% higher performance than SD8G1. Poco F4 GT has severe thermal issues and throttles a lot (I have it) so it isn't a good alternative. Curved display goes away so S22 Ultra isn't an alternative either and if you even considered the ROG phone (to actually buy), the S22U shouldn't be only of the other options. Nubia however is the only real alternative as long as there software it's minimal and have long updates. And also that you get them bi-monthly or so.

Thanks Android Authority, that was a near-miss. Your review has convinced me to go for the Asus ROG 6 pro (or the variant). I had thought about one of the others you listed. But as you say, their audio capability is poor in comparison to the Asus. No Snapdragon 8+ chip to support aptx Losseless like the Asus rog has. And SD card capability, love it. 3.5mm headphone socket would be great. A lot of companies charge more to take it away from you. Oh and battery life! @@PanosPitsi In my opinion that is one hell of a stupid comment. If nobody wants a headphone jack in 2022, explain why they are STILL including one on phones from ALL price points and companies are STILL making wired IEM's/Headphones. Explain why companies like Sony who make wireless headphones STILL include a headphone jack on said Bluetooth headphones (Sony XM5 is the example I'm thinking of, a £380 headphone). You still to this day get better audio quality from a wired headphone/IEM than Bluetooth. A hell of a lot of us STILL want a headphone jack so maybe instead of acting like you know it all, first take into consideration that you know nothing and don't speak for others.

Well, my opinion might be biased, since both my desktop and laptop have been ROG for the last 6 and 8 years respectively. For the last 8 years my phone has been the ZenFone, possessing 3 different generations: the original ZenFone 6, the ZenFone 3 Ultra, and the ZenFone 6 Edition 30. The last one of these just died over a month ago, so I am in need of a more modern phone, and since they removed my favourite feature from the ZenFone 9 (also smaller battery, and imo uglier design), I have decided to go full ROG, though I *do* prefer the ROG 5's nomenclature with "Ultimate", with the "Pro" nomenclature it seems to me as if they're trying too much to be like Apple.

The "Black shark" is the best bang for your buck. I owned 3 types of them last year, Black Magic 6 is the Worst. Remember this, you are buying a phone. The system need to be stable, less Chinese and globalised, camera is also need to be acceptable. Asus did the best, but the Black Shark did better in saving customer money ... Actually, you will realise that the value of the phone wont be that price. For your sake and fun, buy the cheapest black shark, and then game everyday with it, or do whatever you like. No body surprise of the look of your gaming phone, keep it yours.

I think it is fair to mention also that previous version of the ASUS ROG Phone have very little durability and can at time break fairly easily, even from pushing the screen too hard with your thumbs. A sturdy shock absorbent case might be essential for the ROG Phone 6 if it is not designed to be as durable as its predecessors. Additional warranty would most likely also be a wise choice for the ROG Phone 6 just incase adding an additional cost to of probably about 100.00 Euros max to the already high price tag.
