Just a GpPro 11 for me, but then the camera comes second to the diving. I agree buoyancy and trim have to be the first things to master for good, smooth video. I love the way light can be used underwater to add a bit of drama but here in UK it's pretty turbid so massively powerful lights just give massive backscatter. In clear water 7000 for wide-angle video lights sounds about right though. Make-up? Don't use it myself and it never even entered my mind that you did or not. Trust me, you don't need it!

I use a near decade old knock off action camera. It works well enough and is small. Someday I might upgrade to something more, but I’m happy with it and I really like that it’s not on my way when I dive. Skills, fun and relaxing first, then camera - for me at least.

I had a ton of fun with a Sony RX100MV in a Fantesea housing with a single Inon strobe. I recently took the plunge to go with a Sony 6700 and a much larger (and heavier) housing. Always fun learn and something new! Definitely agree about practicing back kicking and, as I'm finding out, how to learn to balance your camera in addition to your own buoyancy!

Carolina is the BEST! I just did a cave photo shoot with her in January. She's a great cave diver and amazing photographer. I can't wait to be back there again in the near future.

Isn't she though? I had a great time.

Your trim and buoyancy are way prettier than a full face of make-up 😊 Loved the comment about snot 😂

2010 is when I dove cenote last. This video really inspires me to go back to Mayan Riviera and get back into cenotes. Also to get drysuit certified this summer.. Love your vlogs.

Great Video as always! A lot can be said for less expensive/compact cameras. I just got home from Socorro. Shooting a housed DLSR with two strobes and an 8" dome was like a sail in those currents and surge! Exhausting. Grab the GoPro on the next dive and felt free and light! No drag and good results. BTW, you are going to love Socorro!! Freaking amazing place.

Hi, beautiful videos! :) Carwash is so gorgeous with all those fishies and the fairy plants underwater. I have a sealife micro 3 camera and I'm working on my buoyancy and trim so I can start delving into underwater photography. I'm pretty decent in air... now want to tackle water lol

Yeah, buoyancy is the key to everything! Keep practicing and growing. It'll pay off.

Appreciated the info about the cameras you use! I have another behind-the-scenes question for you: what video editing programs do you use to create your lovely videos?

I switched to the free version DaVinci and I’m really happy with it so far. I used Final Cut Pro for years but I like the color correction tools in DaVinci.

The use of models I think is a tricky question. I think that diving in particular tech diving primarily reaches an audience that is better influenced by aspirational advertising. Instead of "That is me" in the ad, you are thinking "I want to be them and go there." They look perfect instead of a middle aged men and women that are tired and sore from a long dive.
@AzulUnlimited6 ай бұрын
Good point. Sometimes reality can be a little too real especially when it comes to advertising. But I hope that as consumers start to educate themselves more, we can move away from such "deceptive" imagery and be authentic about the wide array of divers out there.

Don't even get an Olympus or GoPro or FDRX3000. Get a divevolk enclosure. If you're diving in an overhead environment also get some float arms to hold a couple D710V. You have a great camera in your pocket and if it's any sort of modern it's better than a sport camera or a TG6.
@AzulUnlimited6 ай бұрын
I have friends who use the Divevolk and they love it. I might look into that as well.

You're always posting videos without make-up, messy hair, just woke up, after a bad night, and everything else that comes with diving and van-life, and now you're suddenly self-conscious about it? I did my first cave course a little over a month ago, and Aktun-ha was one of the caves we dove in. Really cool to see you visit the same caves/cenotes! On the last day of the course, we did a photoshoot in Nohoch Nah Chich cave. Being a model is quite challenging, especially with multiple divers, because you try to synchronize breathing, but at the same time, you are trying to remain still, but you can't correct your buoyancy by exhaling, because you would be making bubbles that you're trying to avoid in the photograph.

Yes, because this was for a brand photoshoot, so that’s a bit different from the stuff I shoot for my channel. Awesome you got to do a shoot. It’s a really cool experience
