Love it! The hardest part is when you have homeowners believe you are making $10,000 on a $10,000 job. It’s almost counterproductive to explain where all the money goes so it’s one of those things that I just leave alone.

2 more things… pay your quarterly taxes. My brother constantly makes this mistake and it always comes back to get him. You don’t know how profitable you are if you aren’t constantly updating your books and paying your bills…. Also, debt kills him. It seems everyone feels they need a newer truck.

Would love to see a video or at least hear your take on running a repair only business model. That’s what I do, modeled after another established and very profitable mentor/contractor. Extremely low material costs, highly needed service with low competition, and very fast and profitable jobs.

Why are most roofers scared half to death to give an estimate in in writing or anything in writing I had some contractors come out and not even give a business card and why don't roofers have an business ID on after all they are coming in to your home it's like doing business strangers

Premature failures of new roofs are the following. 1. Flashing 2. Improper ventilation 3. Pipe boots 4. Ice dams (inadequate ice / water) 5. Shingle / hip & ridge blow offs Interesting enough most inexpensive roofers don't change the flashing even when required by manufacturer for warranties. Also they buy the most inexpensive pipe boots. Hacks make me stacks. I follow 8-10 Master Elite and TAMKO Pro Roofers in my market and make bank on roofs less than 10years old.

100% man, we bid on a job the other day that was 65 squares and we did it at 40%. Some jack wagon came in and undercut us by $15,000. There’s just no way he made enough money on that project to cover everything.

Same here, was with customer inspecting every detail on roof and attic. A good hour, gave him my report with pictures and details. Cut up roof with hips and valleys and 8/12. Bid it for 30k, he gave my report to someone else and they did it for 12k😮. My math doesn't add up how they're making their gas money let alone buy materials... It just doesn't add up.

@@jaga72 how many sq was the job and what is your labor cost per square? Your numbers seem to be highly inflated for a competitor to bid the job at less than 50% of your bid.

How many roofing companies actually have only 10% overhead? I would say very few if any. Maybe the Chuck in a truck, working out of his kitchen.
@RoofingInsights3.0
@RoofingInsights3.0 Жыл бұрын
If your overhead is more than 10% you should rethink your spending and your model. $1m roofing Business shouldn’t be spending more than $100k per year in office and staff, neither should $5mm business spend $500k on same. If you spend $200k bringing $1 million, you have spending and efficiency problem.

@@RoofingInsights3.0 Would absolutely love to see the overhead breakdown of a successful $3 million - $5 million a year company. Maybe someone will anonymously share theirs with you so you can do a video and break it down for those of us whose goal it is to get to that point.

It’s easy to make money in the New England area. All you need to do is: 1- shrink wrap a truck with a company name 2-Sub-contract all your jobs to people who exploit the illegal aliens who are controlled by the cartels because they are indebted to them 3- Let them use air guns and destroy the shingles. I know “set the pressure I don’t know how it is done in other parts of the country but I’ll bet they are using the same so called “business model”
